  1. First of all, big thanks to JAMDOT for letting me borrow his 1:1 15300 to compare and take bracelet measurements against my MBW 15202.

    Thank you, JAMDOT!

Now off to my pics and notes:

the MBW 15202. note the large white gold screws. could be more recessed though, IMO.

the 1:1 15300. nicely recessed screws. but a bit smaller than it ought to be, I think.

compare them to the gens here. Note how the AP logo is incorrect on our reps.

I prefer the 15300 butterfly clasp, however, compared to that of the 15202.

    Wrist shots.

The thickness is the same on both as measured by my digital caliper. note that the 15202 bezel is closer to the case but the caseback is a bit thicker.

The 15300 has a thicker gasket that lifts the bezel a bit. But the caseback is thinner though.

Note the differences on the bevel angle on the bezels.

The two jumbos side by side. they measure the SAME, even though dealers list one as 39mm and 40.5mm

What to choose? It's a personal choice - one with seconds hand and the other without. Both have visible flaws that a Royal Oak WIS will spot.

I wish our dealers can combine the virtues of both and come up with a SUPER REP in the end.

    One can only wish.....

  2. Quick specs:

    • IWC Portuguese with Panda dial
    • serviced movement and @6 frozen
    • double AR'ed crystal
    • curved end leather strap

      Quick impressions:

      • PR has improved dramatically after the extra gears were taken out. no more sluggish chrono hand movement
      • AR is TRULY impressive. get it for one of your favorite watches if you have the funds
      • dial just glistens now. see the finish on one of the pics below. markers are also really shiny now. this is because there is no more glare onthe crystal.
      • Curved ends on the strap fill the gap nicely and it hugs my wrist better IMO.

  3. I have the blue one, and it is worth it. the quality is better than your CN version. whether the price difference is worth it is really a personal call

bracelet edges, screws not stripping easily, fit and finish, gaps between links, etc.... are small details that to me, make it worth the $$ difference.

I have red somewhere that PP also make "custom combos" like Hublot does so a fantasy PPN is not really impossible.

Like Jeff, I wear mine with pride. on some weird occasions, I would try to slide my MBW 16610 under my sleeve, not because of fear of being called out, but I did not want to come across as a show-off. But not the PPN. Not a lot of people know it. But everyone who sees it always gaze at its beauty.

  4. so why am I inquiring? no, this is not a shameless FS ad. Am not entertaining offers until I officially put it on the block.

been going back and forth on this "trimming down effort" and I am in the middle on this one.

too many watches, only one wrist to put it on. only seven days in a week. only 4 weeks a month. so something's gotta give in.

so just looking for opinions, that's all. thank you.

  5. this nasty hobby.... some watches you just keep in the case to admire. such a waste of money

    :p

... like this white GMT. TW case from EL way, way back.

when ETA was really swiss and and you can feel the quality of the movement when turning the crown

correct hand length. pins on bracelet. lume. serial number on the case

buy a used GMT movement and you can pass this off as a .... ;)
