  1. Imho go for the vintage and keep looking for the grail, nothng beats vintage&gilt:) On the other hand: "The attraction to this particular 1675 even though not the grail piece is its from a seller who sells a ton of vintage pieces so my thinking was to buy this one stay on the wait list for the gilt and trade it in where the other appears..." this seems like a very good idea to me too.
  2. They have all brands and are reliable a deployant clasp is something nice (mainly recommended for getting a clasp here, the strap itself better source locally) http://it.aliexpress.com/store/group/WATCH-BUCKLE-CLASP/323861_212118656.html other I use are strappedfortime or watchbandcenter.com with large selections.
  3. It´s got a mean toolwatch look, quite aggressive - and cool with the colours on top and the black strap. Great Seiko, love it:)
  4. Just browsing around, maybe take a look here: http://stores.ebay.com/Clark-Watch-Parts/_i.html?_dmd=1&_nkw=omega and Cousins.uk also do have parts. Good luck
  5. Hi, good question and interesting find with the Certina. As the calibre is the same ETA C07.111 based on the 2824-2 it should be no problem. If the date is at 3 or 6 or 9 does not matter as it´s a round datewheeland, the distance from center to edge I suppose is equal to the ETA. List of watches with this movement is on watchbase.com, just found it thanks to Your Certina-Tip, the Tissots I had been looking at where all in the $400 range plus import-taxes to Europe. This will be interesting to follow if You do it:)
  6. For double the price You get a nice, used, gen 16570 Explorer II and it´s a fantastic watch, a Datejust old model would be possible too. If the intention is to spend that much it´s better applied in a vintage dial- hands- crown- crystal etc., an ETA or clone movement will do the job. Modern R. are mostly for using out of the box in my opinion.
  7. Was going to say that if You go for a blue Aquaterra the new Bond one with yellow accents is out:) Hoping to see some real-life pics from You soon.
  8. You´ve got a really nice faded insert result, very well done.
  9. According to Your choices get the AP Diver V7 (or maybe the AP Myota 15400) and use them out of the box. Mod with an A/R crystal if must be. Read and research Ale´s PAM guide as well and visit Panerai wristshot - sections. Leave the modding for vintage pieces, Rolex or Panerai.
  10. Fine piece, congrats. I had been staring at those... must resist:)
  11. So now they are stopping Yours too, like in the rest of strict continental EU for the last Years already. Looks like You will have to start paying the (working) triangle shipping fees to get them safely and deal with the 3-4 weeks waiting time. And You´re here for long, almost 9 Years, wow. Good luck for the next one.
  12. You did notice the gen caseset is ceramic, the rep is dlc SS, on the gen the date sits straight to 12, on the rep it´s lying sideways and You seem to need a special pin to set the date. At the price the A7753 goes, it´s precisely the rep I would buy in quartz for less than 1/2 and wouldn´t notice any further caseset differences - it has enough already. All my carefully treated A7750s run fine and steadfast - Yes, precisely - You have to treat them carefully, be careful when to set the date, how and when to stop the chrono if You use it at all, not hand it over to friends who will push the buttons - and be specially careful not to wind them and not to bang into anything as they are not very shockproof. This is a priority: Have You checked where You will send the blackshield if anything is wrong or it needs a service, if the watchsmith does even work on that rep-movement and how much it costs? (and forget about having it serviced in China, it will come back with another problem) The quartz one, You just put it on, use it and abuse it and don´t ever worry about, You´ll have enough other attractive, desirable and gen-like A7750s waiting in line.
  13. Once again some of the most fantastic and wonderful builds in this thread today, I can just dream of:)
  14. Would love to have one, good opportunity to improve on the rep crystal as well. The 2-liner gilt dial with red accent and the red triangle just look great, as do the non-snowflake hands, amazing match.
  15. Just google goowatch, goophone etc. and watch some videos on Youtube
  16. Thanks, it was a pleasure. It´s a beautiful and efficient watch and the pics (and the option for a Donerix strap) are great:)
  17. That´s sad when untouched and unspoiled nature and homes to kind people are destroyed like that. Hoping for some rain and containment of the fires and that everything with You, family and friends stays well.
  18. The Tudor heritage chrono is a nice quartz rep. It doesn´t have any ticking seconds unless You use the reliable chrono and it´s a hefty, good looking watch. If You´re getting a fastrider or similar it should be quartz anyway, can´t see any advantage of getting the A7750 movement there. The only thing I don´t like on rep or gen quartz is the large ticking seconds hand when it´s there, as for the rest a rep quartz (when it is well made meaning sapphire crystal etc. and not the cheapest materials they often have) has a good, solid feel and reliability to it. A genuine Audemars Piguet or Patek Philippe, now that I would prefer with the fantastic automatic movement.
  19. Ask carefully and try out. Many will frown on reps, others don´t mind at all. Always great when You find a real pro that wants to work on them.
  20. Thanks for the review and the great pics. Looks fine this Omega Chronograph with the highlighted reds and something You don´t see often nowadays on here. Congrats
  21. Hi and welcome to rwg, lots of info and pics around
  22. Hola y bienvenido Cyber-Clint:) Welcome to rwg and the world of watches.
  23. Must have been great to catch some Caribbean sun and relaxation. Thanks for sharing:) Do they have special offers like tax-exempt sales or something to justify all those boutiques? If You go by the 1% rule for luxury articles, there must be lots of people having those 12.9 million who choose to go on Caribbean cruises and than - right there on the ship - they suddenly decide they need an RM:) On second thought, I get it: there are casinos on board and these serve both as an incentive to try and as an "on-board" recycling bin, for those, that easily earned some cash on a lucky day.
