  1. I think the approach of cutting corners to make it appear 7753 may work well with the factories and existing parts. This may mean that for those reps that should have 7753 but currently sporting 7750 today are a good candidate the use these 7753. The factories will likely need less parts to change to drop these in the Breitling Legende for example.
  2. This is perhaps something that we always forget to ask the dealer and maybe even afraid to ask. By the time we really need to know and understand, it is almost always too late. So i recently purchase a nice avenger from a very good and loyalty worthy dealer. The watch arrives and immediately, i reported that there is something wrong with the movement. So it is sent back at my own cost for return shipping. Then it came back repaired and guess what? It has a new problem. The watch stops and the only way to get it started again is to start the chrono and stop - then the seconds runs again. So it goes back once again at my cost for return shipping and then it disappears into the bermuda triangle of lost mails. The package, as of today is lost. Did not arrive to destination nor did it come back. There's no tracking per the mailing instruction but it did arrive the destination on the first return. It's been 5 weeks since mailing the second return. I am offered a discount the next watch but I am out the original cost and the return shipping costs My point for posting this is to prevent or reduce this from happening in the future. I guess the first question is what is reasonable and fair return policy? Should this be something that is agreed to up front i.e. terms and conditions?

  4. @coeuss - that's too bad he passed away. that push to stop selling may just lose steam...but maybe good to everyone else. @jkay - indeed. the eta movement reps have been around a while and gets better and better. do you guys remember the first A7750 version? and when this was modified to work in the daytona?
  5. I picked up a watch magazine at a book store and there is this big article on the CEO or head of swatch group. He (forgot his name) has been telling everyone for years that they (swatch) will stop providing movements to anyone except the big watch houses. Apparently it will come into effect in the next 2 years unless the court stops it...something to that effect. Well there's a lot of thing that can happen here and one is that there would be less watches in the market and may drive the price high...i doubt this would affect the rep world though....or does it? Anybody hear about this story?
  6. This came out late last week. Saw it in Trusty and PC site in the other sections....low key as it was not splashed in front page. What are your thoughts and how do these 2 versions compare with the original? One thing I noticed is that bezel maybe REALLY screwed down from the inner case back (i.e. somewhat like the AP). You can see the opposite screws when the case back is open. Also, this is the same movement used in somne of the Bentley models. Lacking in the pics is how well the date window and mag was done in this rep and may just be the deal breaker for the super rep status. Check it out: http://www.trustywatchguy.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=21_169&products_id=6521 http://www.trustywatchguy.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=21_169&products_id=6522
  7. anybody know what's the new url for perfect clones? the old one is dead - http://www.perfect-hour.com/
  8. Is the placement of the date window corrected too or only the date wheel font?
  9. I've searched and came up with nothing. Anyone know if someone has done a DIY adjustment on this? Need to know how this works and adjusted.
  10. What gap? Not aware of any gap that needs to be there until now. Two piece baton? Really? I have been looking at the pics for a while and did not even notice it.....but then perhaps most of I was looking at were reps Even then, I still did not pic out the baton thing until now. Does not bother me and mine's on the way.
  11. Oh yeah and you can charge for pictures taken of reps in the display booth! Bring this to the next GTG
  12. Definitely. The sunken datewheel is the biggest killer even if it has all the other things right. I would not mind paying $100 as longs as they get this one right.
  13. Cougraree is right. The local AD is definitely your best bet. The shape of the lugs also matters. Case in point, the Santos 100 chrono has the lugs sitcking out a bit in comparison. Then the thick leather strap prevents it from 'hugging' your wrist so you have this gap on both sides. The SA lugs are pointed downwards and the bracelet wraps around your wrist so although it is big, it hugs your wrist. You have to check it out from the AD.
  14. @AllergyDoc - Nice review. You got me sold on the baton marker. The pics, well that is one the best pics I have seen. The size is substantially larger than the marina <whew>. I have the white 2008 on my wrist now and a the first generation SA with blue dial from AD. I just placed an order for the same as what you have reviewed - 2009 SA with baton markers. Thank you again for the review.
  15. @Big Mike - the price difference varies. Based on what I have seen in AD locally, the price is difference is about 3k - which again made me think that it is solid. A difference of 1K would certainly suggest that it may not all be solid. Anyway, solid gold is definitely out of my range...gotta stay SS
  16. Just ran into this one from the bay....blacksteel with black ice....paging Mr Freeman... Blacksteel Ice
  17. @Allergydoc - that is indeed a very beautiful watch. This is the 2009 version with the baton marker. I prefer the arabic marker. The detail in your picture is stunning. Would you do the honor of doing the review on this new version? Not to put you on the spot
  18. I did some searching and could only find a review by shultz on the 2008 SA. Has anyone reviewed the 2009 version - new dial?
  19. Wow. This is interesting. I really thought they were solid gold links. They even show the gold pieces being melted in the chronolog. What a bummer...no different thant the TT rep you get nowadays. Now if the rep factories could just make those sunken datewheel fixed...hmmmmm....
  20. I have 2 SA and after seeing this pics I think I will get myself a third one
  21. Very Nice!!! The top 4 pics look hot. Wonder when we can see a decent rep on these.....I hope they don't come out with sunken datewheels!!! So far, it is the number one killer for me. I can see that they have updated the Legende as well....but may suffer the sunken DW cancer
  22. Just got an email with this new model. What do you guys think? Case is about 42mm...slightly smaller than the steelfish.
