I think one of the biggest tell in the watch is the date window. The date window in the gen is super cool (tapers inwards nicely).....while on the rep seems to be simple cut-out on the bezel. Having said this....will wait for Lani's review and then see how far is it from the gen.
Saw some excellent pics of DSSD on a gen forum. Putting the pics here so that the Rollie experts may get a chance to compare the new DSSD rep to the real thing:
Thanks Lani. How is the gen supposed to be? Is it supposed to be absolutely smooth (i.e. the number are engraved and then there is some transparent glass coating on the bezel)?
Yes...there are some nice 7750 ones. However, in my experience, gals like to go more with quartz than with autos....too much hassle to wind/change date etc.
I know you are bombarded with questions Lani and thanks for answering all of them so patiently. How is the pearl on the watch? And also, does the bezel has a smooth feel or can you feel the numbers engraved?
Nice pics Lani. How is the crystal on the watch? Apart from the bezel numbers....is there any other obvious tell that it's a rep?
Waiting for your review
Cheers
I ordered and got this watch .... 3 days flat from US to Singapore. Came with original box, instruction booklet, warranty card etc. Watchery called me twice to confirm and validate my order. The watch looks really nice and to me...seems like a decent deal.
Cheers
So the confusion still continues....is the current version, that is being touted as 1:1, the best that is going to be made available for now.....or is there another version in the making?
Looks good mate.
I got my BP couple of days back.....lovely watch....but the strap was soo plasticky. However, I sold the watch the day I got it......even though the watch is really nice ..... somehow....felt rather light on the wrist....matter of personal preference I guess (too used to wearing HBB/SAs now )
@1976...you have a point. However, the quality of PVD application has improved these days. I have a Graham PVD.....which I have been using for a few months now....not a single chip/scratch anywhere.
Am seriously considering buying a U-Boat Thousands of Feet. The models look very very accurate and also come with Swiss ETA movements.
Best of all....@ 50mm...they are massive.
Here are the ones that I am considering....but am not able to make up my mind.
