  1. @PT could share with us exactly what the factory says of this 29J movement? and You can get pictures from manufacturers of this so called "new 29J"?

@ Mahler, Factory have not given me any extra info on 29 jewel movement, however a couple of weeks back when the basel editons were released, i asked if the movement was to be installed in the older style daytona's. At that time, the answe was "No"

It is possible now it has been released according to other dealers posts, however i would like to see the 2008 daytona models taken apart to see if the movement is the same.

As for aquaring pictures, i can only obtain ones with caseback open, i cannot get any with movement taken apart. This is something i would like to see too.

Those who have ordered the 2008 versions it would be interested to hear about reliability. The older style daytona's would tend to give way in weeks, if the movement was bad...

  2. The above comment i made was a "comment" not a fact.

I am as much interested as you are about this movement. I hardly sell daytona's because of the failure rate of this movement.

I am yet to stock this product. As i too would like to hear about the changes in movement which is what attracted me to your post.

Please note i have no major watch repair skills.. so asking me to take apart a movement is something i am unable to do. If i had the knoweledge on how to do this, beleive me i would do it first thing to show any possible improvements on this piece.

I merely commented on your review to say when i asked about this movement in the older style daytona, i was told it was not ready yet.

I am not saying the movement is not the claimed improved 29jewel movement... all i am saying is i would be interest to see the 2008 basal models disassembled to check if it is the same, based on what i was told a couple of weeks back.

If it is the same.. then fair dues.... you have an excellant review which has helped me and a lot of other members. I do not like to buy dead stock.. hence why this review is as important to me as it is to you.

Remember i am not selling or advertising any of these just yet... I am contributing to this thread, so we can compile an accurate review of this movement for all members knowledge.

Please do not jump on me for merely making a comment. It is the sole reason why many dealers like me choose not to participate in user threads and only post in our own sections. When we do participate somehow we automatically become a target.

  3. Interesting read.... As far as i am aware the new improved movement is only installed in the 2008 basel editon daytona's, and yet to be installed on the older type models.

I noticed your one is the older style daytona.

I understand you were told the new movement is installed on this by a dealer... but i think its worth analysing a 2008 basel edition or an IWC Portuguese before discarding this movement.

  4. How much did you pre-pay? Everything I'm hearing is soon, soon and around $350-$385, which is worrying, but inevitable. I have the cash sitting around ready to go to my dealer.

Officially released today..... Pug yours is already No1 on the waiting list... will update you with delivery info in 2 days.

    Regards

  5. Ok... After some long hard fustrating thinking.... Ive finally come to a decision. The last four were very hard to choose from, but im going with the first one that really was mindblowing when i first saw it.

Andreww, Jboy, and Jkarpas.... All your designs were Phenomenal.

  7. ===================COMPETITION IS NOW OVER==============================

First of all thank you to everyone that took part. It was really fun to see some of the designs, a lot of hard work has been put in by everyone and its extremely hard for me to pick a winner.

I'm going to go through all the posts and see if i can come to a final decision. Its going to be a difficut choice as i like a lot of the designs. I will announce the winner shortly so stay tuned.

  8. I don't possess any of those fancy programs (some of) you guys have....so I took a while with Paint. I realize your site is very elegant and may not have room for this.....but hey, like my dad says "I don't care about your grades, just honestly do your best"....so I did.158780-12853.jpgI was unable to load my paint image onto imageshack due to the lack of internet speed here.....so I took a picture of the design and cropped it as accurately possible to make it look good.....pardon the weird effects. All the best,Dutchy
Every has put in a lot of effort here. It is greatly appreciated. Its hard to pick a winner, as all designs are good.
  9. Wow there are some excellant designs here. I may just take someones offer up on website design. I like the layout of whats on there right now but it can definatley do with some tweaking.

There competition is really a difficult one. I know there are still a few entries left. Some people have been working quite hard towards this.

There are some elements a like from various designers here. If i find it that difficult to make up my mind, there might just be more than 1 winner :)

  10. A few quick questions if I may (that will help me and others....)

Do you prefer a "graphical" logo? (One with a picture of some sort in it) - Or just a straight type logo (words only)?

Do you want the logo to fit any particular format? (eg - as a banner on your wesite and at the bottom of posts - or do you want something that can be an avatar too)?

Will it be ONLY for web applications - or do you want something that can go on letterhead, etc?

And yes - I do this for a living. The more info you provide, the better designs you end up with.

    Thanks!

I prefer a logo with some sort of watch element to it.

Banner type is fine, but it will be an excellant idea if there is some sort of content on there which i can then use for other things, e.g. watermarking my pictures.

    Open to ideas and suggestions.

I would like to use a black background on my website so it would be good to get something to match. However if the logo is exceptionally good, then im happy to change my background accordingly.
