  1. This is my GMT World. It is matched to a gen leather strap. It transforms the watch. It is over with The Zigmeister right now waiting for Chieftangs Double AR treatment. I got the watch fully serviced, relumed and a datewheel swap. I can hardly wait to get it back.

I'd love to see the pics of your watch when you get it back.

  2. Metro,

Nice black dial world. I aslo recently purchased the White (actually silver) dial world from Ruby. and she is a beaut. Double AR would do the black dial justice. Try finding a brown croc strap for the black dial to add the extra contrast. This may be next on my order list (if i dont get the Montbrillant datora instead).

Yes the black dial watch could really do with double AR, but it's still nice as it is. The white dial watch has a light AR coating which is very helpful, but unfortunately that watch is now dead. It didn't survive a rain shower I got caught in. It got condensation under the crystal, which is fine because that dried out. The problem was the movement satrted to sound very noisy. And finally the bezel became very loose.

In contrast, the black dial watch survived a rain shower with no evidence of condensation under the crystal.

You win some and you lose some.

  3. No matter what your intentions, its not a very bright idea to post reps on a gen forum. Our hobby is still very much underground (at least our high end reps). If you read the posts in that section you will find that they are still fairly ignorant to high end reps. By making them more aware, you are also making the distributors and manufacturers more aware. The swiss manufacturers tolerate our hobby for the most part, because the majority of reps are crap. As the become aware of the quality of high end reps the become more proactive about doing something about it. This very forum was attacked after another idiot member posted his Hublot rep in a gen watch forum!

Oh NO! Maybe the Swiss have found this site too?

  4. The good rep strap is on sale here...

Great review Andreww! I am also a huge Breitling fan. I have 3 Breitling reps at the moment, and my latest is the SS Chrono Avenger. I went for the SS version because it has the new Asian 7750 (28,800 bph) movement with decorated rotor and AR coating on the crystal. The watch face is also very clear and crisp. I don't mind the fact that it is not as accurate as the titanium models, I still think it looks good in SS.

  5. I recently had a stainless chrono avenger black dial swiss ETA and it was a very well built watch and great dial. the only downfall was ZERO anti-reflective coating. Half the time you couldnt read the time becasue of reflections. I finally got [censored] off and sold it and bought an Asian Bentley T chrono from Paul. I should have kept it and just replaced the crystal. It was one of the best reps ive ever owned for fit and finish and detail. I didnt get it from anyone here on the board. It was from a firend and not sure where from originally.

Ok. I just ordered the SS Chrono Avenger. It's supposed to have an AR coating. I'll let you know how it goes.

  6. I am looking around for a good Breitling Chrono Avenger rep. After looking around for some time I have narrowed it down to two watches.

    Firstly:

    http://www.ttwristwatch.com/index.php?main...products_id=993

I like this watch because it is made of titanium and it has the UTC dial on the bracelet, which would come in handy at work. However I don't have any experience with that particular movement.

I have also seen this watch here:

    http://www.perfectclones88.com/bl10059-[ce...nos-p-1990.html

I have been told it is a 21.6k bph movement.

    1. Does anybody have any experience with this particular watch or movement?

    2. How good is the quartz UTC dial, how reliable?

    3. How good is the anti-reflective coating?

If that doesn't work out, the alternative watch I have been looking at is:

    http://www.ttwristwatch.com/index.php?main...products_id=975

This watch movement is the New Asian Valjoux 7750 (28.8k bph). I have confidence with is movement and I am happy with it's performance after owning two Breitling Navitimer World watches, both using this movement. I don't mind that is watch is made of SS, I would rather accept this flaw than put up with an inferior movement.

    1. Does anybody have any experience with this watch?

    2. How good is the anti-reflective coating?

    Thanks

  7. Seeing as you've not completed your profile, I can't be sure of your location, but using your local time, I'd guess Europe.

In Europe, there's only really one choice and it's the choice I made: Precious Time. He's got them in stock and as you can see, they're not crap.

Beautiful watch! Just out of interest, what's the button on the case at the 9 o'clock position do?

  8. I was looking around for another Breitling Navitimer World, hopefully one which the slide rule scales all line up. I found this watch at the following link:

    http://www.watchez.com/Breitling-Replica-B...tches-1537.html

    on the Watchez website.

I sent them an e-mail enquiring about the picture and the slide rule scales. Their picture shows the watch with a large date font and the scales all lining up, just like the gen. The description of the watch on their website was very general and didn't give much detail.

The e-mail response I got was very generic and didn't answer all of my questions. They did say that their product was as pictured on the site.

Has anybody seen this particular watch from this website? And does anybody know of any Navitimer World watches which the slide rule scales line up?

  9. OK, you've found the 2893-2 movement in the second one which is the better movement ands happens to cost $220 more. The 2893-2 is an actual GMT movement, whereas the other 2836-2 is moified to be a GMT movement.

You might want to compare the pics of the two watches. Crown should sit higher on the 2893 case (good). the 2893 is a better and more modern movement. The big question will come down to do you want to spend the extra $220 and is it worth it to you.

You say the 2893-2 is a real GMT movement. Does this mean the hour hand is adjustable forward and backwards in 1 hour increments, independently of the rest of the hands (like on the genuine Omega Seamaster GMT - sorry, this is the only genuine GMT watch I am familiar with). And also, if this is the case, does that mean that the 2893-2 does not have quick set date feature (like the Seamaster GMT)?

  10. Modded 2836-2.....!

So does this mean that the hour hand is adjustable independently in one direction or both, or is the GMT hand adjustable independently. Whichever hand is adjustable independently, is it adjustable in 1 hour increments (jumps) or does it turn like a normal watch hand? Also, what causes the date change, the hour hand or GMT hand?

  11. I have a Navitimer World, and the scales don't line up. The red triangle next to the 36 mark on the outside scale doesn't line up with the 36 mark either. The scales don't seem to have any practical value, they are just symbolic.

I looked at a lot of photos before I bought the watch, but it was difficult to determine if the scales lined up or not, because in most of the photos on various websites, the scales were offset which made it difficult to determine if the scales lined up. I took a gamble, bought the watch, and the slide rule is useless.

  12. Agree with PAM1A in most of his reflections, but I like the black dial much more than the white

You should not worry too much about the size, the Fiddy and the Navi World were my two latest purchases, and the Navi W wears A LOT smaller than the almighty Fiddy. It has been my everday wearer since it arrived, on a very nice black BOB strap well worth the money.

    232998-11831.jpg

I found the regular Navi's to be too small even for my wrist, the thickness - wel, it ain't a slim and elegant dress watch, but hey, it has a goood appearance both for casual and dressy occations.

    232998-11832.jpg

Despite the well known flaws, like a small date window etc, this watch/strap combo gave me a goood feeling, and that is really what this hobby is about for me. :)

    Well, my 0.02$ anyway.

    232998-11834.jpg

Do you know if all Navitimer GMT's suffer from the problem that the inside and outside scales of the circular slide rule don't match up? I bought one and I love it, but I'm not happy with the slide rule scales.
