I wore the gen for about a month. It is not that grey but i think it is the photos.

You win, you were right but we lose. (sort of) Do not get me wrong it is a nice effort but one of the things about the 26k that is different than other panerai is the font on "luminor marina" and "panerai". They are different than other watches before them. (they are also used on some of the new boutique SE's This watch just has a cut and paste of the 005 text. I have always been one for what looks good looks good and the rep factories seems to make things that look cheap and choose the wrong fonts but here the choices are ok. I think the font is wrong but does look good and "gen" so I can live with it. Just still have to wonder about WTF they are seeing when they hold the gen and finished product side by side and the goal is to be perfect as this maker claims. On another note what do people think of the color? They photos make it look too grey but I am thinking it is just the pics. Chad

The black is always like this. I have never seen a black that is not like that. I think overall the finish of the black dial is nice though with double ar. Chad

Found a good pic to show what I am talking about. This(ubis photos below) is one of the more impressive rehauts/crystal distortions I have seen but as you can see in link below it is still not totally gen like. http://www.network54.com/Forum/353390/thread/1298180921/last-1298180921/FS-+PAM+118+E+Series+Luminor+%28whorok%29 I have never seen a manual wind luminor posted here that looked like that in that area of the watch. For me on the wrist it makes a huge difference where as crown being close to the case enough and cg details are less noticeable. While ubi's is as close as it gets when I see some of those DSN cases FGD watches compared to the above link it is not even in the some league. Add to that most people strip the AR on a cloudy crystal and you have a sunken looking dial that numbers get cut off viewing at angles and the dial appears a washed out grey.

IMHO this is one of the very few panerai reps that really looks like a gen from the photos. I am always surprised when people pay 800-1200 for an assembled pam rep which to my eye still looks 100 percent like a rep. (rehaut, cg issues, crystal distortion/cloudy, dial finish etc etc) We have waited a long time and its great to see some gen like watches. It will be interesting to see what this does to the used prices on the other more expensive luminor reps.

Little sketchy for him to say not to post QC pics. If you cannot return watches anymore due to QC pic policy you should be able to do whatever you want with them and they should have nothing to hide.

The 26k dial is different than the standard sandwich dial in font and cutouts. I bet they botch that and just make it like the 111 but with a 9.

I think it is funny people say the 360 is "so wrong" If you say that isn t everything we do here "so wrong"?

One easy way to spot this is the case never casts a shadow over the top of the numbers on a gen when viewed from an angle. You see this is in most of the great reps here especially dsn based cases. The 201a gens are even more pronounced. The dial appears to be right up on the crystal which makes the no-ar not so bad and just plain looks good. When I see a DSN cased watch with AR removed on a cloudier than gen crystal it just looks wrong if you have worn a few gens. These watches 177, 219 and this one look MUCH better. Probably came from redesigning from the ground up. No one seems to notice this though or care..... I would take this over a gen like cg pin any day of the week.

One thing about these new watches and I am still stunned that no one notices these things with all the stuff everyone else comments on is the rehaut finally looks like a gen. All these jimmy, franken, FGD, etc etc watches I see on here, the dial appears to sit too low. My friend at work wears a jimmy cased super rep 112 and I can see from across the room its not a gen by the how low the dial sits. I do not know if it was the crystal, case or dial but these new watches do not have that problem. Chad

Lume looks horrible, these guys who make these just have no eye for quality or taste.

Vac is of course way too busy, oh well. Zig is impossible to even get by email these days. I guess I should have researched it a little more before i bought them although the person I bought it from said it was a piece of cake and his watchmaker does it all the time Thanks for the help ubi! Chad
