  1. I have a pradata as well. Great looking watch but its finish is meh at best. Pearl is currently MIA, the bezel is not properly aligned and the DLC coating has decided to part ways with the caseback (but you have a brushed finish so you're safe in that department). Also, if you have a DLC pradata: they forgot to coat the bracelet between the links. It's bare metal there.

What a bummer about the DLC! That sounds like something that would be done on a cheaper watch (like one of my DLC'd fossils).

I got the blasted finish, which hopefully looks good! I have read similar reviews that the blasted is a last step finish as well.

  2. I wanted to share a neat piece I just ordered today:

  3. That's a bummer :(

Andrew will probably have you send it back to his watch repair guys to clean it. Takes about a month to CONUS. I just had a similar situation with a crown that fell off.

I may look into what it would cost to have someone else take a look at it in a shorter period of time... but that is just me.

    Best of luck!

  4. Jack,

This is going to sound weird, but you are not the first person I've heard have this issue. I've heard of this happening to probably 3 or 4 other people. Strange.

I'd contact one of the watch repair guys in the forum and see what it would cost to send it off.

    Best,

    Sam

Live1 got a custom build by zocker (on RWI) FYI. Truly beautiful.

Live, could you give a ball park of what the parts cost? You have quite a few Gen parts.

  6. Well,

TC makes the 16610, and that is a newer 116610. You can tell because it has the rehault engraved ROLEX all around and the ceramic insert.

Basically what I'm saying is that a TC is a different watch :) although both submariners.

You said he paid 4k ... I assume you do not mean USD!

If you love the look of a 116610, BK is your man.

Either way, I'd source some gen parts: crown & tube, crystal, bezel insert, etc... have someone put it together for you, and you'd be into it $1200 to 2k USD range depending on how fun you want to get ~ less than a fourth what he paid.

    You're friend is a showoff :p

  7. I don't think I've ever bought a rep without having a few beers first. Here is my patented rep buying process:

    1. Get the itch several months after my last rep purchase

    2. Research the heck out of a rep, burning 5-10 hrs on the forums

    3. Get lost in the minutia of the merits of version X vs version Y vs Gen

    4. Get discouraged that the date wheel font is off by .00001 mm vs Gen on the numerals 6 and 9

    5. Throw in the towel and decide not to waste my money

    6. Forget about it for 2-3 weeks

    7. Have a couple beers, remember the watch, grab my laptop, buy the watch on the spot

    8. Repeat in 6 months

It's not a terribly efficient process, but by God it's gotten me a nice little collection over the years!

This is the perfect explanation of the replica purchase cycle! #4 could not be more spot on.

But I have to agree with Mike -- This is more like a few week cycle  :bangin:
