It's been sent! Just got to wait now....the worst part! haha
Ended up getting a 2nd watch, as the first one he showed me had quite a squint right sub-dial hand.
The one I ended up getting sent is perfect. Everything aligns 100% -

Ok I'll try and be a bit more active in the panerai section here especially on the new products.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI've gone with the PAM 356! Paid. Just waiting for QC pics in a couple days.
Mind if I message them to you when they arrive, seeing as you're far more of an expert than I am.

I actually don't really know so much about panerai, just the models that I know. I don't know if the mods would be happy with me linking it but there is a fantastic guide put together by ALE over on RWI which would tell you all you need to know.

Well how about when it arrives I'll buy your steel bracelet and you can buy my rubber strap!
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI'm going to go with Toro, im afraid. Get the black leather strap version. As I get a 10% discount if I use Western Union.
Then I'll get the box set from AOO, which is $45, only $10 more than a rubber strap, and the strap is included in the box-set. So, effectively getting the box for $10.- 1

111 v4 noob is a decent starter watch but you have to have a very sharp eye in QC as more often than not it's old v3's they are trying to get rid of.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkThe 356 is cheaper anyway (the one you recommended). So I think I'll go with that!
Spoke to Perfect clones, and the only one they have in stock is a steel bracelet one. Which is slightly cheaper. But I just don't like a Panerai on steel bracelets.

For sure. The handwound panerais are generally way more reliable than, for example, an a2836 watch (in my experience). The 6497 is a very nice movement that feels much nicer than a miyota or Asian eta on the wind.
Any chrono watch is going to add a greater risk of failure especially if you use the chrono without knowing how to use it properly (resetting without stopping, using between certain times, etc) - lots of info in the movements section will guide you in this department.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkThink I'm going to go with the PAM 356 from Toro.
He's also recommended the PAM 111 though

Mine are around 6.5 in and it fits fine.
If you wanted something a bit smaller the new 682 from xf factory is 42mm, still quite chunky but if you wait a few weeks for the factory to update the lume then that's a potentially great choice.
Otherwise there are lots of other pams on offer currently with loads of the dealers, especially by kw factory, so lots of options for you to consider. I had a h fac 26k that IMO fit my wrist fine. If you think you can pull it off then you can pull it off IMO
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkAwesome!
Does the added complication of the chrono add any issues? I've always gone with the mentality that simpler is perhaps better when it comes to rep movements.
-
I'm 'umming and ahing' about what model to get. I do like the Daylight. But I do have reasonably small wrists. So not sure if the buttons for the chrono add too much bulk.
Also not sure whether to go black or brown strap. I'll probably get a rubber one too for more 'outdoor' usage.

Sloppy gear train by design, same on the Swiss version. I'll take two pics of it at its most extreme

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkAHHHH, so you mean the hand doesn't always sit 'flush' on the markers?
So, the equivalent of the minute hand landing half way between 44 and 45 minutes? Also looking at getting a box (love the Panerai box). Thinking AOOTime is the best option. Theirs appears to be the same as Toro's, as a fraction of the price

Yep that's the one. Some of them have a very slightly wobbly right hand chrono hand which happens on most a7753 movements so check this out on QC just to make sure it only moves slightly. Mine moves ever so slightly and it's unnoticeable. It's a proper super rep otherwise with a decent movement.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkCurrently in discussions with Toro via email.
What do you mean by a 'wobbly hand'?

Toro has the 356 on offer at the moment, am absolute steal at that price
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkThanks for the tip mate. Think I've found it on their site. Not sure if I'm allowed to link to specific ones. But is it the "Pam 356O Noob Daylight"? that you were talking about?

One of the few dealers I haven't bought from. I don't know what has happened, but any dealer can get any watch if it is available
I've had most experience with Perfect Clones tbh

There are no silly questions, but sometimes it helps to learn about a watch before you buy. Type "Panerai daylight" into Google and you will find all about the genuine, which is always a good place to start, then select a reference number or two of models you particularly like and check the TDs websites to see what they sell. Having started looking at the genuine, you will be in a great position to assess how accurate they look. Also once you have a reference number you can search the fora to see what others think of the rep.
I could just say buy model X from dealer Y, but honestly you will enjoy the hobby more if you learn and understand things for yourself. Oh and when you get your lovely new watch, post a wristie ?
So, I was looking at a 'noob factory' Panerai (can't remember the model number) sold by TS Watches. But their website seems to have gone down. Also emailed them and received no response unfortunately.

The DayLight models on bracelet seem to be quite well priced, and come with a true 7753 clone fitted.
Sorry to ask a silly question. But what's the DayLight model? And who sells them?
-
Been looking at the various dealers. However, I'm always sceptical about how much they big up their various models.
Could anyone recommend the best 'bang for buck' Panerai Radiomir dealer? I don't really want to spend over $300...
-
-
Okay then, may I suggest this one as you've not given any hint as to your taste/style/preferences.
http://www.pf-818.com/-p-2232.html
If no one else suggests anything are you still going to buy it? lol
And for those too lazy to click the link........
That's the idea! haha.
Admittedly, if this just becomes a huge [censored] take to make me buy the ugliest watch possible, I may retract my statement, before I end up with a Thomas the Tank Engine watch
-
Not The Sound rude but come on its pretty lame choose what you want why Should we Waste our time browsing PC for you this is kinda what is The best sub question just In a more complicated way
what is The best rep under 300 from PC question
do your own research buy what you Like
maybe narrow it Down to a couple and ask again
I wasn't asking for 'the best' anything. I was just asking for input to see if there's perhaps some weird and wonderful suggestions. I'm not bothered about researching the 'best' anything.
Thought it might be interesting for some people to have an input.
-
I guess nobody wants to give their input haha
-
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.
I thought I'd treat myself to a new rep, however, I thought I'd make it a little more interesting and let you guys choose. The most 'votes' wins, and I'll buy it. I only have a few rules:
- Must be from Joshua at PerfectClones
- Must be $300 or under
Other than that, cast your recommendations! I'll put the most mentioned models and names into a 'poll'
Let's see what I end up with haha!
-
After posting. I've changed my mind haha. My Sub was keeping me awake last night because I could hear nothing but the movement through my pillow last night.
Nightmare!

Tongue in cheek...
The term 'beater' always revs me up. What is a 'beater'? VRF guys will say "5513!", TZ guys will say "Patek trip date/moon, Purist guys will say "A. Lange Zeitwerk repeater, Sir." while Nanuq will say "The last one I broke all to hell."
...but times have changed and by definition (imho), today's 'beater' is usually no longer a mechanical watch because truthfully, they are about as tuff as hen eggs. Many will say "Ok then, how about a G-Shock?" Well...they are usually plastic and thick so they stand up high on the wrist and are just looking for trouble...metal door frames, rock walls, etc and besides...they are fugly, lumpy, and fray cuffs. Nix the G.
Next they say "Ok how about a Seiko 5?" Nah...mechanical = fragile and they run only if you shake the pizz out of 'em. Nix the 5.
Timex? The word j-j-j-junk comes to mind. Today's Timex ain't yesterday's Timex. Nix the mex.
The answer is (drum roll), there are hundreds of 'beaters' but the vast majority today happen to be quartz (analog or digital but digital = Ugh!). A 'beater' needs to be in a low profile case (to help it stay out of trouble) with sapphire (prone to shatter), MG (prone to scratch and shatter) or acrylic (prone to it all) crystal with a canvas, rubber, leather, metal, nylon, barbwire etc strap or bracelet.
Rotating bezel? Nah again, they are for kids and real divers (not bedroom divers).
Screw down crown? Yeah, if you can stand it (stripped threads).
Crown guards? Nah, why guard something that usually gets stripped, not knocked off?
Q...Ok smarty, what 'beater' would you get?
A...A thin quartz pocket watch in a steel or plastic case carried inside a leather/nylon etc pouch on my belt.
"B-b-b-but you can't wear a pocket watch with a suit!"
You do not need a beater if you are wearing a suit, you only need a 'beater' out in the wild, my child.
So...a 'beater' = what you like and can afford to lose, break, or destroy. Each to his/her own.
Edit:
All kidding aside, how about a Bulova Precisionist or Accutron II? They are cool (smooth sweep quartz) and the price is right on many models on eBay.
I'm going to sound like an utter TOOL right now...but....there's such thing as a smooth sweeping quartz?!?! Where has this been all my life? haha. So the accuracy and reliability of a quartz, with the luxury feel of a smooth sweep. I'm sold!
-
Normally I do. But I sometimes go days without wearing a watch at all. I take them on and off so frequently.
-
That's a beauty! Gen or Rep?
What model is it?
-
Bidding went above my target. So I thought better to leave it.
Loose Panerai Crown Guard

I recently got a PAM 356 Daylight. But the crownguard has come loose. Is it just as simple as finding a mini screwdriver and tightening it down? Or should I dab some superglue into the screwholes to secure it?
