  1. Bidding went above my target. So I thought better to leave it.
  2. any idea where I could get the right Milgauss hands for the job? Scratch that. I've found a movement for £59 and a set of hands for £9. Sorted! what other tools would I need for the job?
  3. I'm aiming for a 28800 bph. I'm assuming my current movement has the 21600 it whatever it is. Mighy be a silly question. But. Can a movement with a date wheel be used in a non date watch? If that makes sense...
  4. hey guys. I'm considering giving myself a little project with my Rolex Milgauss Rep. It was my first ever Rep and was a bit of a cheap one. From memory it has a 21j movement, which isn't quite as smooth ticking as my newer reps. Basically, I want to start off my project by popping a better movement in there. I don't want to go too OTT on the costs. Because at the end of the day, it's a cheap watch to begin with. What movement would you guys recommend? As I've got bugger all experience with actually modifying watches. Thanks in advance.
  5. I just don't see the point in spending a thousand quid on something to reduce the immense exertion of putting my hand in my pocket and looking at my phone... a second hand gen Tag Heuer will hold its value better than this technology device. Maybe im just being boring haha
  6. I still think I'd rather have a proper watch...
  7. Any idea what the pricing will be like? If it's sitting in the £1,000+ area, I'd rather just buy a mechanical legit Tag...
  8. I shall keep you updated! Currently the highest bidder at £57.
  9. Shipping is £2.80 So, hardly a big factor. $150 would be approx £98. So, £100 delivered.
  10. I'm watching it. I'll pull the trigger in the last few minutes. I like to stalk my prey haha. See what the other bidders are doing. What should I put as my max bid?
  11. There's currently a 007 Seiko I'm looking at on eBay UK. Someone's unwanted birthday present basically. Brand new, still in wrapping. Looking promising. It's sitting at £50 with 20 hours to go.
  12. Some great recommendations so far guys! Seems like a Seiko 007 is on top in terms of number of "votes". I have to say I am a fan! I'd probably put it on a grey (Bond style) nato strap.
  13. Firstly, let's clear up this whole "what are you doing on a rep forum then". i used the term fake, in quotation marks, because that how the ill-informed view them. Secondly, I don't know about you, but if you're wearing a Rolex where I am, you'll regularly be asked "is it real" and regardless of your answer and explanation of it being a high quality rep etc....it's still going to cause some people to stick their back up in the work place. And I'm not in the position to want to annoy or irritate people at work. Day to day, I couldn't care less what people think. Next. This is partly to find a watch. But also partly to get some friendly back and forth and debate on the go. Anyway, thanks for the ideas so far. I'll be sure to consider that name change.
  14. ah right. But that goes against the whole purpose of this purchase. Avoiding a rep. I just want to avoid the negative stigma with "fake" watches with work colleagues.
  15. perhaps i am tired. Or generally being a moron. But elaborate. "Stock TC"?
  16. So, I'm looking to get myself a daily beater watch which I can wear without caring too much about smacking it around. I want to avoid going down the rep route. Purely for the fact that I don't want to have to explain my reasonings when someone asks me if its real or not in the office. I thought this little search would open up some interesting debate between the guys. So, here's the rules: - Can be new or used UNDER £200 - Must be automatic - Must NOT be a rep - Homage watches ARE allowed. Ready. Set. Go! Haha but in all seriousness. What do you guys think I should get?
  17. I am using the correct size driver. Unfortunately it's a very small one, so getting a good grip on it is a nightmare. Anyone recommend any other good screwdrivers?
  18. Just put it up against the cooker at full blast until it was scolding hot (I realise this isn't particularly safe...but I couldn't find a lighter). Still won't even budge a smidge.
  19. I've tried submerging the link in boiling water to see if it loosened. No help. Tried WD40. No help. Might see if I can find a match somewhere and use that
  20. Evening lads, Got my latest addition to the collection today. Something I've wanted for a while. Before I provide you with the obviously required pictured of said beauty, I wondered if anyone could shine some advice on me. I'm struggling more than I normally would to unscrew the bracelet screws to remove a couple of links. So far I've only managed to remove one link, but it's still very lose on my wrist and could do with another link. What are your secrets for loosening link screws? Picture:
  21. The picture isn't of the actual watch, that's just a Google images jobbie. I wanted advice in terms of pricing I should target to get a good deal.
