Welcome to the forum! We always appreciate when someone does their homework before posting questions.
Lots of nice replicas out there. You could probably pick almost any top make and find several excellent reps. Sounds like you need to narrow your focus a bit.
How big? 40mm or larger?
Sports watch or dress watch? Sports watches often "cross over" into the dress watch category but dress watches don't go well as sport watches.
Gold, TT, or stainless steel?
Leather band or steel bracelet? Or rubber band?
Sometimes they do open them. When they do you usually get an extra tax bill.
S.F. customs has opened a lot of mine. LAX only once. Dallas FW will open and keep them. A lot of dealers won't ship to you if the watch is likely to go through Dallas.
Edit to add: I hope for their sake that they don't sniff them. Some atrocious odors have come out of watch shipments! The worst are from Thailand.
Hont from RWI has 40mm PAMs. His site only shows 2 but you could email him and ask.
Josh has a section for them but no watches in the section. You could also email him and ask when they'll be available.
This is a "gen" from Astbury, an English company that sells watches of Chinese origin. It's fitted with an Asian Unitas 6497. Ticks like a time bomb. Astbury sells it but I have no idea who makes it. I bought it off ebay UK for $103 delivered. 43mm case. Decent band. Nice occasional wear.

I got mine from Josh:
Naysayers notwithstanding, I love it and wear it often!
Choose your dealer carefully on this watch. Mine developed movement problems and Josh repaired it 9 months after purchase.
I've only heard of one member who successfully talked his watchman into servicing one of these modified ETAs. It was 20Babies. He said his watchman told him no more because it took him hours to do it. I would be interested to know if your watchman agrees to take it on once he learns about the modification.
I had the correct handstack version. Unfortunately, I played with the GMT function when I got the watch and it was unstable. It would run, then it wouldn't run. The only thing Josh ever told me to do was turn the hands through several day's to "line up the needles." This usually helped, but not always. You problem is different, though, so other than what I just wrote I'm afraid I don't have any good advice for you.
"You told a lie, an odious, damned lie;
Upon my soul, a lie, a wicked lie."
The best threads, in my old mind, are the jests between HFC and Demsey.
Especially,
"This is why we don't talk old leches in English pubs." He says to his two young blond daughters.
The Demsey/HFC vollies were the best.
The old f**ucker. Hope he's doing okay.
I've swam with a $99 Sub and a $375 Sub. Never had any watch tested for water resistance.
I've collected reps for about 3 years--not really an "old timer." I started off with the cheapos, then got sucked in my Best Swiss and paid $1,050 for a YM. It's one of the best-made replicas I've ever had.
Replicas are fun because you can "try out" a model for under $200. If you don't like it, someone will be happy to take it off your hands. It's a hobby.
As for keepers, it's better to get the modded ones. Your DSN is a good example. BK's Rollies are another.
That you started off with a DSN means you have good taste.
