If I was the owner of the shop, that guy would have been out of a job immediately.
Agreeing with Pugwash, selling is not always the hard sell. Sacking a salesman who makes a sale seems a strange business model.
Jnkay, If you're after perfect sub, the easiest watch to satisfy it is to get the gen, congrats
Bet you keep reading the sub posts.

Some blue subs have aged to purple.
The link doesn't seem to work properly, but refresh will bring up the post.

Seems odd that they have so many positive feedback as well. Makes me wonder if it is a stolen ID.
All the feedback is from sellers, none from buyers.

Here is a recent post from a gen forum about Panerai movements, the suggestion is that the unitas is a direct descendent of the cortebert.

The jubilee remains an option today on the GMT II and was original on the GMT going back to the mid to early 60s.
The GMT was available from the factory with a jubilee from around 1970. Before that it was supplied on the oyster.
-
GMTII's originally came on jubilee...and they look much nicer that way IMO.
If this is true it was only for a couple of years at most as they were shown on oysters in early 1990's UK catalogs with the jubilee as an option.

He's having problems deciding if it is the real deal.

Looks like it's been pulled now.

I think they all started with Rolex - at least the earliest ones I've seen.
When the Pams came out with the Cali they talked about it having a Rolex dial . . .
But I can't find any info on when or why it started, or why it's called a California . . .
A frequent question I have never seen an answer apart from the earliest one's are Rolex.

I am not that surprised, a lot of the problems that are highlighted are not that obvious to an untrained eye. Knowing what the faults are make it a lot easier to spot e.g. the hand stack of a GMT II. How mainy salesman are likely to notice that when selling a watch. A good rep, especially in a restaurant with probably less than ideal lighting and a few drinks, would be difficult to spot.
When I went to an AD the salesman had a look at my watch and wound it. This is probably because the feel of the how it winds is one of the most obvious differences.

Old Faithful meets The Legend in a stand off battle!
Rolex have naver made a display back watch to my knowledge.
There is one Rolex with a display back, the Rolex Prince, not great pics, but you'll get the idea.
great pictures of a couple of classics.

It's a custom made order.. Asked for their Swiss 210 (don't remember their model number) BUT with CN movement instead.
CHeers
Kostas

This is the CN movement 210 from Silix. Relume and recessed pin fixed by FInepics.
I'm confused, I can't see a CN movement for a 210 on Silix Prime and there is no 210 on Silx Watch. What is the reference for yours?

A dealer's statements are only a reliable as what they has been told about the watches. Unless they test or are close to the manufacturer of the watches themselves is there any real guarantee on the fine details of the specification. If you want to be 100% sure what you are buying don't buy a replica, get the real thing from a legitimate source.

Another interesting note was the consitancy of the outfits. Every person there wore, without exception (well there was one idiot in madras shorts)
* Khaki shorts
* Polo Shirts
* Golf Shoes
This uniform did not change.
So what were you wearing khaki or madras?
-
Have you got a movement shot. I have looked at a few 210's and this looks the best one I have seen. What do you think?
I thought the group buy was only silix watch.

It looks like the description and pictures are done by different people. The pictures seem to have been done by someone who knows about the watch and shows the features to emphasise , the brief description doesn't tell me anything about the watch. Surely for that amount of money you would say more than what the seller has managed.
I would ask for picture of the papers/receipt and the watch on a recent magazine/newspaper.
