That OEM brown strap looks like the one I have that tore.
How much is he asking for the black one? $140 is more than I paid for the rep (used), not looking to drop near that much on a strap....
That black is beautiful!
-
I am looking for a Big Pilot black strap, with the buttons, not the crock strap.
Anyone lead me to a good rep strap for a reasonable price?
Wow, nobody here is willing to help a guy out?
The strap that came with it looked fine but it must have been poor quality because it tore all the way across where it connects to the watch....

For those of you that haven't seen the past and the watch lineage... this is a great read and has pictures of their beautiful watches.

I have had a nice looking Panerai Radiomir sitting in a watch box for about 6 months....
It is a copper color and has 4 L-Shaped posts that hold the strap.
Well, 2 of the TINY screws that hold those posts have fallen out.
Where can I get a few screws for this thing?
HELP!!
-
First off, may I say in the most cordial way....
DAMN YOU ALL!!
You have all slowly continued to get me addicted to watches!!
I miss the days when I viewed a watch as a simple thing to tell me the time, and the only thing that mattered
was that it didn't cost too much so when I banged it up I wouldn't care and that it was waterproof and could handle some G Forces....
sigh...
Those days are long gone, and it is all your fault... DAMN YOU!!!
LOL... <chuckles>
Anyway, on to my true questions here.
I am slowly accumulating various reps, and slowly becoming more and more willing to spend more and more on them....
Did I say...
DAMN YOU ALL!! already?
Oh, I did.... OK, good....
So, now that I am beginning to accumulate some reps, some good, some not so good...
I need a few items.
First of all, my dresser top is starting to look like a scrap heap of watches, I need a case.
Nothing fancy, don't want to spend watch money on a storage case,
but I certainly need one to protect the watches and keep them organized...
and to "hide" the growing numbers of watches by not making them so obvious to my wife!!LOL
I am hearing this more frequently....
"You bought ANOTHER WATCH!!"
LOL, I think I am going to record it and post it one of these days!!
The second thing that I need is some basic tools for switching straps, dang, some of those straps are pricey!!
Did I say...
DAMN YOU ALL!! recently, no?
Well OK, now I have!!
What I am cursing and thanking you all for is getting me into this great hobby.
I got a great comment on an IWC Schaffhausen I have been wearing for a few days, and it is a kewl
to connect with other watch appreciators
So, suggestions on where to get a case and what basic tools would you suggest?
I am not yet into modding watches or getting into that side, but I see my OCWD (Obsessive Compulsive Watch Disorder),
kicking in, and I probably will start modding watches at some point.
First thing first... lets just start with changing out straps and giving me the ability to take a caseback off.
I found this on eBay... garbage? basic starter set that is ok?

And a case like this?

Give me your thoughts and comments please....

Cool thread!
Impressed by the F-15 pictures.. that is one big fighter, far bigger than the F-16 we have in Europe! ( and still, the F-14 is bigger..)
I have "always" been an aviation buff, even though I only was an Air-Force weapons and avionics technician in the Norwegian AF. :-)
Norwegian Air Force? You didn't happen to know Col Hans Magnus did you?

Doc, out of curiosity, what are the other guys in your squadron rocking?
In addition to all of the above, strongly consider the Omega X-33 (which as USAF, you will have no problem obtaining) or the good old fashioned Omega Speedy Pro.
If I was a pilot, the X-33 would be my only choice just because it is incredibly good at what it does and is one of the few watches conceived as a utility watch for modern flight missions, not as a fashion watch with an aerospace schtick.
Is that a special order watch? Only through the AF or can you get it direct?
$3291 USD
-
Oh yes, a few more.
I like the Sinn 757
And I like the Graham Chronomaster
And I found this Omega Carrera and Speedmaster, not specific pilot watches, but I like them:
Of Course, the Spitfire is very nice:
-
LOL, I actually have one, and that is the watch I wore on my last deployment to Baghdad
Didn't care how beat up it got, and it can take the abuse
Realistically? A Casio G-Shock!Another decision to be made is which of these 3717's?
Probably both at some point!

OK, so here is the list of suggestions so far:
IWC 3717 Flieberchronograph, ETA 7750 Valjoux
IWC Big Pilot
Breitling Navitimer
Oris Flight Timer
Rolex GMT Master
Bell&Ross (What Model, is this really a pilot watch?)
Rolex Explorer II

I always thought the Breitlings were the "professional" pilot's watch of choice.
Here is my list or reps to get so far:
Breitling Navitimer
IWC Big Pilot
What others?

As the flight surgeon for my figher squadron I get plenty of back seat time.
All the enjoyment of flying without the negatives
Here is a shot taken of us by a friend in a tanker

I accidentally hijacked a thread when buying a watch and decided this would be a good topic.
What are the"Must Have" watches in the Aviation world?
I would be looking to build up my gen collection based upon those, but I am going to buy one of these gens that are currently being offered to my squadron by Bretling:
This will probably be my only gen, the rest of my aviation watches will be reps, based upon your recommendations.
I took some pictures of my first ever rep (Rolex) in the Eagle last year and got some chuckles out of members here that I would take a sailing watch into the sky
So what are your thoughts on aviation watches for me?
-
It cost a couple hundred bucks, does not have AR and I believe is asian movement.
The movement is fine if I can adjust the accuracy.
-
I did not realize that you can adjust the accuracy of these.
-
OK gang, I have never opened up a watch or changed anything before, but I hate this movement in my SFSO.
I think it must be the cheap asian because it gains minutes every day.
How difficult and how much would it cost for me to pick up a nice movement and change it out?
Suggestions and thoughts are greatly appreciated!
-
Love it and would like one on a black leather strap.
Who did you order it from|?
-
the reason I ask is that I have read on other posts that the subdials don't work on most gens... these work and are relatively accurate?
-
I love it, would look great with a black strap.
Does the chronograph work like the gen?
-
That is beautiful, I would love to see it with a black strap.
