  1. "BOB Straps" on FEEbay (he is located in Germany btw)
  2. so, back on topic. this IS real ETA on Ruby's web site then?
  3. i'd feel more comfortable taking PAM with screw down crown under water. If the project that is going on right now, with members from this board participating in it, does produce some nice crowns then we can really waterproof our PAM's. The biggest concern is that the gen PAM's have o-ring on the crown (actually more than one i think, correct me if im wrong) and reps dont have it - hence leak, on top of this in a lot of reps crown lever does not apply enough pressure to hold the crown down - hence more leaking. some reps have crystals that were not properly installed by the factory, hence leak. if you have see through back you got 2 crystals that may leak if not installed properly. find watchsmith that can pressure test your PAM and possibly fix the problem...gonna cost you some $ though.
  4. that -swiss made- position ruins it for me.. beautiful dial color though.
  5. watches you buy here (in the rep world) are coming from asia, some movements may start out as low grade swiss ETA's (not decorated, not regulated/lubricated etc.) and get "modified" by asian factories most are 100% asian made. do not get too excited when you read on dealers website that it has a swiss movement, "swiss made" stickers and stamps on the movement do not guarantee anything.
  6. dude, read my post again, you are loosing the point. which is - we should not be afraid to make these drawings public. we are on a rep site after all and all of us are trying to benefit and contribute. the worst thing that can happen to this forum is it gets shutdown and the owners get sued. NO ONE is gonna go after individual posters even if they post drawings or whatever FIY: What Jimmy Fu plans??? He contracted manufacturer to make the parts for his "future" homage watch, then another known homage maker got sued by Panerai and Jimmy Fu decided to not continue with the project (fear of being shut down by friends in Italy) and sold most of his stuff on eBay, also notice the fact that it took him awhile to sell his stuff due to very limited demand for these things (and the prices were dirt cheap too, of course now they are 5-10X higher so there is no secret here.
  7. i bet $1000 that if you put the info here on the forum NO asian manufacturer will try to do what you guys are trying to do! They simply dont care! also the market for this is really limited. yes, they can make a little $$$ (compared to what watch sales generate), but it will take too much time and effort for them to sell everything, again due to a limited market. they will not bother with this $hit.. unfortunately for us ... seeking "perfection" in the rep world. T H E Y D O N ' T C A R E ! ! ! p.s. The only dealer here who is capable of doing something like this is DSN, but he was approached many times with this and other similar requests (people wanted to help for free with the project even provide all needed gen material, which btw he has plenty of access to without any help) and he IS NOT INTERESTED! there should be no concerns after this...
  8. this is super close!!! now my question is why do we need a gen dial??? it probably costs several K USD, and how much is the rep? 100x cheaper? LOL great comparison Kruzz. THANKS!!
  9. i would not want to wear oxidised piece of copper on my wrist... " Symptoms of copper poisoning are very similar to those produced by arsenic. Fatal cases are generally terminated by convulsions, palsy, and insensibility.[citations needed] In cases of suspected copper poisoning, Ovalbumin is to be administered in either of its forms which can be most readily obtained, as milk or whites of eggs. Vinegar should not be given. The inflammatory symptoms are to be treated on general principles, and so are the nervous.[citations needed] A significant portion of the toxicity of copper comes from its ability to accept and donate single electrons as it changes oxidation state. This catalyzes the production of very reactive radical ions such as hydroxyl radical in a manner similar to Fenton chemistry.[30] This catalytic activity of copper is used by the enzymes that it is associated with and is thus only toxic when unsequestered and unmediated. This increase in unmediated reactive radicals is generally termed oxidative stress and is an active area of research in a variety of diseases where copper may play an important but more subtle role than in acute toxicity. An inherited condition called Wilson's disease causes the body to retain copper, since it is not excreted by the liver into the bile. This disease, if untreated, can lead to brain and liver damage. In addition, studies have found that people with mental illnesses such as schizophrenia had heightened levels of copper in their systems. However it is unknown at this stage whether the copper contributes to the mental illness, whether the body attempts to store more copper in response to the illness, or whether the high levels of copper are the result of the mental illness. 10. they look like PAM crowns.. can you get the dimensions (thickness and diameter) from the seller?
  11. Also, i dont know if anyone mentioned this, gen crowns have rubber o-rings and a spring, can you repllicate that too? it would be great to be able to achieve the same depth rating as a gen (or very close) also, the crown should fit standard rep cases, not DSN's only, as many people here have standard reps or start modding with standard reps.
  12. dude, this is not like microsoft releasing new operating system with set dates. how do you know they are working on this rep?
  13. Im thinking of getting NATO strap for white face SFSO for water activities as i dont like rep bracelet. Does anyone have pics of SFSO on NATO strap? i found some pics of blackbird on NATO and i must say it looks really good IMO (even though his wrist is too small for this watch : pics
  14. this is the reason why a lot of people never buy fake gold watches. the only solution would be electroplating more gold (thicker layer, at least 20*10e-6m) on worn case and crown. i have no idea how much this costs. could you post some pictures for all of us to see what happens if you wear "gold" on daily basis?
  15. the caseback is not accurate, the image is supposed to be polished, not engraved!!! Can you see the difference??? gen - DSN "new" rep - also notice how this new rep version does not have any markings on the case. DSN did make a correct case back version back in the days.. i guess this fact kinda increases the value of my 82 with correct engraving now , the big question is How the hell is this improved version???
  16. why did he make the case back not accurate???? the image of the ship is inverted now.
  17. bull$hit. they still need proof to charge you. emails, phone conversations, witness ... anything. i say if properly executed one can not get caught. people get busted because of stupid mistakes. in this case passing info to a 3rd party who is not connected to him and reliable would be a way to go. the thing is that he may not have such trustworthy person.
  18. i tried this IWC at AD and it did not impress me. sorry guys but it seemed too boring for me.......
  19. doesnt DSN test his cases to 3 atm (30m)?? this should be enough for shower and light swimming.
  20. The Zigmeister, you should have put T MADE IN The ZigmeisterLAND T on the dial instead great work !
  21. Ti is very soft, thats why it picks up scratches easily. for SS you'd need something harder. Great tip though! J, are you planning to do a lume job on this 82? do you know what color lume gen has?
  22. are ou planning to sell your DIY homage pieces?
  23. im curious, tell me what they taught you in the history class in middle/high school? Who won WWII?
  24. are you f..g kidding me? that statement is disrespectful to millions of people who died to make that victory happen. you know what changed the outcome of the WWII? people like pavlov who defended single house for 60 (!) days during battle of stalingrad, germans could not get him. people like Lydia Litvyak female fighter pilot who died at the age of 22 with 12 airplane kills. people like Alexander Matrosov who was only 19 when he blocked the machine-gun with his own body, to allow his unit to advance and eventually save many lives.. there were 11000 of such examples on the russian side only, some of them were awarded twice. totally russians lost ~20mil people... (11army,9civilians) americans (who btw consider themselves winners of WW2) lost 500K people and had given out ~400 medals of honor during whole 5 years of war... panerai was nothing more than just a watch on the wrists of not so important italian navy. vogue makes me sick.
