  1. I go to Hong Kong and China two or three times a year. I usually only take two GMT watches with me - I need to leave room in the suitcase for all the contraband that i want to bring home.
  2. Yes... but look at the crown... so thin! Gentlemen., I put it to you that this is a cheap Chinese replica!
  3. Anytime you need help with this task, Slay - just give me a call We now return you to your scheduled program... which isn't funny. I feel for you, Gioarmani
  4. A Rolex LV that I bought in a Chinese street-market had a stuttering second-hand. It didn't affect the timekeeping but it drove me crazy. So I gave it to my brother. I don't like him very much.
  5. Health permitting - I will be there.
  6. I think that DavidSen's PVD is tough enough. I have been bashing this one for months... not a mark on it - and I bought it second-hand>
  7. I'd say a Davidsen PVD but you might find this too casual for the office.. so go for Joshua's latest Pam 212 with the 28,800 movement and sapphire crystal. It has a 44mm case, but because the face is smaller than most 44mm pams it is not quite so "immediate" as your 111. Here is a comparison shot: This has the best fit and finish of all my Panerai reps... and I have eleven of the buggers, so I know wherof I speak. And - it comes on a carbon fibre strap with deployant... so you can wear it, straight out of the box, without having to wait weeks for a decent aftermarket strap to arrive. I love my 212! (Yes - I know that the ticks are inside out. Frankly, my Dear, I don't drive a tram.)
  8. People who enjoyed that site also viewed: http://www.zvisuel.com/montrespassion/english/index.html Animated complications in 3D - complications that you can tear apart and reassemble. Wow.
  9. This older Kompressor is auto - no alarm - but uses the alarm quadrant as a second time-zone. For me, that is a more useful function than an alarm: There are several versions of the VC Dual-time regulateur... all have inaccuracies, but all are pretty good. The rose gold is my favourite. You have to be impressed by the concentric calender and seconds subdial! The GMT subdial functions correctly on all but the earliest versions: Early version with non=adjustable gMT subdial: Later version - GMT is adjustable: Joshua's version has an "officer caseback"
  10. Go to Tesco and buy a pot of Lord Sheraton Leather Balsam. It costs about £1.25, I think. I use it on all my straps. It will darken a dry strap and but will only have a very slight effect on the stitching. Here is a before and after shot of a Davidsen strap that was received in very dry condition: Treating your strap will preserve it, offer a degree of protection from water splashes and make it soft and supple.
  11. "Pan-er-eye" Bob straps are good. http://www.waccex.de/catalog/ You should also look here: Don: http://www.homestead.com/rlx/DON.html HKTan: http://s32.photobucket.com/albums/d25/HKTAN1/ (password: hktan) ABP: http://www.abp-paris.com/ ... there are many others.
  12. I hope that this means that we can look forward to a decent rep of the Timewalker GMT.
  13. No, not a joke. Jokes are funny.
  14. The damned bag and pen adverts will still appear when I click on "View new posts"... wherever you put them.
  15. That oversized GMT pointer is the only reason that I have not bought one of these, yet. A fix would be nice.
  16. Genuine alligator? I thought that BOB only offered fake alligator... the so-called gator-print straps. Was I misinformed?
  17. With respect, Sir, not all. Probably just the Swiss versions. Here is my Asian Unitas Radiomir "California" from Joshua. Note that there appears to be a big fat washer between the hands... looks like a short canon pin movement could have been used in this watch as there is no small seconds subdial to get in the way of the minute hand.
  18. I find the GMT complication really useful... I travel a great deal and when in England, do business with China and the Far East. Here are some of my low-end GMT/timezone watches... I have others
  19. Nah - false alarm. Its back up again. Waving, not drowning.
  20. The DavidSen PVD 026 is high on my wish list: http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e230/watchmmx/PVD%20026/ Yeah.. PVD and destro... how cool is that?
