  1. You should get your watch professionally pressure tested before you get it wet. Even Patek suggest that their watches should be tested annually.
  2. You're going to go to prison... you're going to go to prison
  3. Savage was offering an interesting leather earlier today... black - but looks blue-grey as the light or reflection changes. Sounds good for a Ti watch.
  4. Great siggy, Slay. I expect that single-handed, you will drive the cartel into the ground. Although I prefer to think of it as a consortium... But that aside, now that you are on the Consortium blacklist, tell us, please... who is your favoured dealer? I think we should be told.
  5. The link is active. But Krezer was too lazy to click on it
  6. Get a 111 and a strap from BOB (budget - but bloody good) or HK Tan (excellent) Here's a genuine alligator from HK Tan (because it was on the clipboard :-)
  7. Why a mouse when it spins? It has one leg the same.
  8. Here is my small contribution to this thread... directions for your taxi-driver: Be aware though... if you are visiting GZ during the April or October "Canton Fair" seasons, you may not find many reps on view. It varies. Sometimes there are acres of reps... more that you could possibly believe. But last October, there was a police clamp-down and there wasn't a rep in sight.
  9. Around 50 - 60 half-turns is usual for a 6947. But one of my Asian 6947s takes about 150 half-turns... low-geared, I suppose. I love the watch (a Davidsen) so I don't gripe. Well, not much...
  10. Run all the way! It closes at 6. Which means that you need to be there a lot earlier.
  11. Absolutely agree. I give them a gentle swirl, set date and time (in that order) and strap them on. I never wind my automatics.
  12. I am so jelous... I have been waiting so long for that buckle. But, for what it is worth, in my (not very) humble opinion, the tan strap is best... and can only get better with time. Let me know if you get bored with the buckle :-)
  13. I like these two: and this one is on my list...
  14. Just throw it out and fit a tang buckle. The deployant, in my opinion, is both ugly and uncomfortable. Here is a nicely engraved PVD tang that I received from Davidsen recently: Much prettier than the deployant.
  15. Show a nice clear photo of the movement and someone might be able to help you.
  16. Joshua Radiomir California on HK Tan vintage distressed leather strap: Wrist shot - on original strap: Love this watch...
  17. Davidsen can supply a replacement crown tube & crown set
  18. I could forgive so many other faults if the manufacturer could get the "hometime" hand right...
  19. You do not have the skill. You do not have the knowledge. You do not have the tools. You will destroy your watch. I know. Oh, yes... been there, done that...
  20. I'm not out to contradict the Zig... but did you try advancing the date by manually winding the watch 24 hours? It once worked for me...
  21. www.banda.com will make a strap any size you want. So will HK Tan. Here are some custom made Banda straps, in genuine crocodile and genuine alligator: The Banda straps cost $80 and were on my wrist within a fortnight. Here is a custom strap by HK Tan. Made from aged, distressed leather salvaged from a derelict railway coach. It took longer and cost more. No regrets on either score. And yes... I have another HK Tan strap on order. Patience... patience...
  22. @Shultz... great... I am green with envy. The date mag makes a huge difference! @Jetsons... this is what an OEM strap looks like:
  23. Look carefully and you will see that one end of the "T-piece" (the bit that goes into the buckle end of the strap) has a screwdriver slot in it. Simply unscrew, remove, wriggle the remaining bit into your strap and then replace the part you removed. Be careful. Some of these deployants have two removeable parts. They can be a bugger to assemble again - yfor these, you'll need two screwdrivers, three hands and a lively sense of humour. Having fitted it, you will probably find that the deployant is bloody uncomfortable and you'll will remove it and revert to a tang buckle as soon as possible.
  24. Why don't Polar Bears eat Penguins? Because they can't get the wrappers off. (This joke is available to UK citizens and ex-pats only)
