Great looking build, and fantastic fade on the bezel.

Looks nice, the case aging is looking great just a few marks or nicks a little softening and it won't look a day over 58. The vintage pieces are what I prefer and this is on the mark. Thanks for posting.

Congrats on the new phone. I've been using (or is it using me) an iPhone since 2011, smart phone but still unsure about the user sometimes.

Looking good, I'm thinking of building one of theses in the near future. Great work.

When looking for a thread before clicking on it look to the left there is a dot if you have posted in the thread move your mouse over it it will say go to first unread post. If you have posted it will be a star and just click it as well.
Hi Boss,
Any update on the "Go to first unread message" functionality with the new layout? I know I miss it for navigating some of the longer threads!
I meant to quote you on this. See above.

JMB builds a very nice case for the pre 80's 1016 builds.
-
Great collection, some of my all-time favorites you have there.
-
Simply amazing, a work of art ! Thanks for such a thoroughly detailed build and post.

I know very little about Cosmographs, but I really like this one. I love the dial. Great looking build.

Such a beautiful build and photographs. I'm sure I'll end up with a white dialed 1016 at some point.
Thanks for posting.

Hooray! Good for you for taking the courage to just get in there and try it. That literally is half the battle right there. Now that you have opened it up once and successfully closed it, the next time won't feel nearly as daunting.
Agree a 100 percent. Congrats.
I'm working my way up to hopefully a franken build in the near future.

These have the best lenses http://www.mauijim.com/.
But for style it has to be http://www.persol.com/australia/sunglasses
These are all I need as well. I've owned all kinds of glasses over the years, I always go back to theses two brands.

Looks like fun. How's the fishing ?

Great topic and comments.
The way I see it Rolex 40-50 plus years was a very nice watch / tool watch that was priced right for the time. Fast forward to the current Rolex and it appears they are becoming a luxury brand in the upper echelon of watchmakers not at the top but they sure seem to be trying with their current pricing structure. JMHO
Thanks

The original hole is very small. The center of the new hole is just on the inner edge of the old hole... Tricky. Case has to be held super steady
I was thinking you laser welded the old holes and drill new ones.
I still have a lot to learn.
Thanks

There are quite a few links not working, too many to list. Thanks for all the wonderful reviews and pictorials.

Fantastic review on a wonderful watch. Love the history behind the watch and how your mother's will be passed on to family members. Thanks for another great pictorial.

Nice review on a beautiful watch. Thanks.

Combination looks great. It has that early 1970's look.
-
Great collection, thanks for the detailed descriptions.

I've had several pairs of Persol's not sure how cool they are, be they are definitely timeless.

Actually, it is more of an eye trick... When you place a bracelet endlink you can hardly see the difference. The 1600 is much slimmer and rather pointy. Shortening the lugs a bit creates a look very similar to the 1016 in my opinion. At least much closer than a 1600 unmodified.
Very nice work. How did you relocate the lug holes ?

Great looking watch, the dial is simply amazing !

Great work on a nice resource for hand sets. Bookmarked for future reference. Thanks for posting.
