  1. I have fun modding my skx to make it unique. But trying to spending 1/6th of the the price of buying a submariner on a replica is just too dear. The watch will never be reliable as a genuine rolex and you'll be forever noticing the flaws in it.

Considering you can buy a very good oris or sinn watch for $1000 I would rather pick that option.
I have bought two Oris watches in my life, one is a Pointer Date chronometer back in 1995, and the other is a Pan Europe 3-hander. The Pointer Date was great and had proved to be accurate. The Pan Europe? Not so much...it was consistently losing about 8 seconds a day.

Here's my rep 5513 Cartel based with a gen dial and gen insert. I put in a gen 2824-2 and the accuracy and reliability are top notch, better than the Pan Europ actually in terms of accuracy. Gaining 1.5 seconds a day average.

For me personally? The 5513 is so much more fun to wear than the Pan Europ I gifted the latter to my son last year as his 16 year old birthday present.

Yes there are a lot of watches available in the 1k range...just not a lot that interest me.4a5806c255d18f6317109f59367514bb.jpgf327b4adb996da41c829a8f5c2d4e6f1.jpg

  2. so much talk of fitting genuine parts, gen rotar, gen stem, gen datewheel. Just get the gen watch better spending $6000 on a gen watch than spend $1000 on a replica with gen parts put in.
Sometimes the journey is more than half the fun once you learn to appreciate it you know?

  3. Come on....this is getting ridiculous with these builds. My interpretation: "Hey guys let me show you these pictures of my build of parts you will never find a single one of let alone all of them in one place. But don't worry, I have them all and assembled them into a watch that will make you hate every watch you own. Here look, look look at these pictures in super high resolution taken with my 40 million mega pixel camera with all the perfect angles and lighting. That's right, breath it in. Scroll through each one and open them all up individually and zoom in and really appreciate how amazing what I have done is. Now stare down at the crappy TC on your wrist which you thought was cool because you added a gen insert. Can you feel what I'm feeling...that's right, your watch sucks, it's a turd."

:-) I don't even know what else to say dbane. That thing is like staring at Jessica Simpson pictures from the Dukes of Hazzard movie. (Note no other pictures of JS just those). I'm in awe and envy of what you've created. It's freakin art not a watch.

    This!!

a watch is meant to be worn

  4. Hi Tats,

    Remember your evil twin?

The first things I didn't like when I first received mine was the hands. Gen hands have a curvature to them but the hands on our piece are completely flat. A bit hard to explain in words but if you've handled a TC with V2 hands or gen you'll know. And like some already mentioned the proportions of the hands are wrong as well.

Here's a photo of the TC V2 hands and I think you can see how they are curved and pick up light reflections...

Second thing was the CGs. I trimmed the CGs slightly but since I don't have any power tools it's only coming together slowly.

There really is no point going uberfranken at all. A decent gen is only about 7k so I for one wouldn't bother.
