  1. Except that glossy gator straps aren't always cheap. Witness the Hirsch Venice Louisiana gator strap. Sale price: $235 Now, I do *prefer* matte to gloss personally. But I don't think glossy gator or croc straps look cheap.
  2. Don't you think it would be fun to drop a coke bottle down to them like in The Gods Must Be Crazy though?
  3. I'd consider $10/month reasonable. But I think $5/month might likely generate more revenue through volume.
  4. Mind boggling, really. At first I thought it was a joke, like a fake news story from The Onion..... but, it's not! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10...ows-arrows.html
  5. No, I'm not saying that new members have no say. I am saying no members except The Zigmeister have a say in what The Zigmeister does with The Zigmeister's articles, and that your assumptions were wrong and out of line. And I'm further saying that many of us have read The Zigmeister's tutorials and are still sharing what we learned from them on this forum. So the information is not lost. It is retained and dispersed to the forum through the membership.
  6. It's actually not lost. Those of us who've read it have it upstairs.... And FWIW, as RWG Member 11010 having just joined a few months back, you can not and do not understand why these articles were removed in the first place. So your not so subtle inference is not only spurious but also out of line. -Chief
  7. Interesting. I was at a Tourneau last night and looked at the Mark XVI, which is basically a non-chrono 3717 (right?), and confirmed it had no lume on the numbers... The guy asked me why I was interested in it given that I had a 3717 on my wrist.
  8. Wow, my friend, what a story. I am sure you were wearing your Franken Explorer. Congrats and glad to hear everyone is happy and healthy.
  9. The DW is such an inexpensive upgrade, that I'd just do it regardless. But more importantly, I have heard that recent 3717s have had some serious QC issues. So beware.
  10. Yea, incredible. The burst this horse has at the end is just ridiculous. A triple crown seems a foregone conclusion!!
  11. Wow! I hope you got pics and can't wait to hear about the unveiling! EDIT: I see I'm a little behind here... Nice Nice Nice!!!
  12. Green rouge + dremel won't take so long. FYI
  13. I'd guess not gen.
  14. No plans for anything new here. Maybe I'll finish up everything that I already have in the mod queue, which would be a 2892 FM Conq, a UPO, a 2892 PAM 28, and a MBW 1680.... Or maybe not.
  15. Interesting, pizza.... So the inner ring is lumed on the Slevin but not the CD?
  16. I've got two of the stilty 2892-A2 -> 3135 holders and they're perfect!
  17. Second the GS Hypo. It is holding various bezel rings and dial markers on my reps.
  18. Do you mean teeth? The palp crown has the correct number.... I forget what the number is though. Someone probably knows.
  19. Great ideas here. Definitely search through some of the old posts to get a feel for all the issues that Palp encountered with the bevel, size, threading, etc before they were usable. But if you were able to produce a 2.0 palp (instead of a 2.1) and a Jimmy Fu CG.... It'd be huge.
  20. If the crystal doesn't pop out with moderate pressure using your thumbs, then I'd stop and use a press at that point. If you start applying too much pressure that isn't evenly distributed around the diameter of the crystal, I would think you could break it. The 3717 is on the thinner side. Not as thin as the VCO, but close. Some are pretty stubborn too. Others pop out rather easily. Your mileage may vary.
  21. I'd agree that the bang for the buck is pretty low with gen crystal and bezel. Single side AR - whether it be gen or not - is so subtle that I could never detect what it is. If the crystal by itself is coming at a price that is lower than a rep sapphire + aftermarket AR job, then obviously it's worthwhile but probably not otherwise. The JF case is nice to have, but of all JF parts the cases do seem to be the most available / least sought after. They come around from time to time, unlike the JF CGs. And finally, on the bezel, I'd also say it's not a good value. Who can differentiate between a gen and JF or even rep bezel?
  22. Sneak up on it... In other words cut it too long, install the crown, install the stem, see how much more needs to be cut. Remove cut a little more, repeat until you get it just right. That's what I do. I think trying to get it perfect with the first cut is likely to result in a stem that is too short and unusable.
  23. Do you see a crystal gasket inside the case or on the crystal itself?
  24. Well the good news is that if you've found us, then the addiction has already started. So you can stop worrying about that. Welcome aboard. You'll find everything you wanted to know and then some here.
