  1. Yes I have tried one. More than one, actually. Several of my coworkers are Apple fanboys, and had them the first week. They're a neat toy, but I just can't type on them. Sending short text messages is one thing... U can abbrevi8 wut u say... but anything more than that would drive me nuts.
  2. Hmmmm.... that does look good. I especially like the tumbled leather. And the blue stitch would look great on something like a PAM 89.
  3. Well, that's the tradeoff. Functionality vs. security. If there are a million different ways for the device to come in contact with potentially malicious data, the potential threat is much higher. PC's are much much worse. But at least in some cases there is an infrastructure for getting PC's updated....
  4. Unless you have toothpicks for fingers or tremendous patience, don't attempt to do much with that iPhone keypad. Fun toy, but just not practical. And apparently it wasn't really meant to be practical since they went with EDGE baseband anyhow, provided a non-replaceable li-ion battery that will show noticeable capacity loss within a year, didn't provide any (as in not one) expansion slot, require a touch screen for dialing, and made single handed operation very tricky at best. Oh and by the way, I'm well aware phone cameras suck, but seriously... why even bother including a camera at all if it's only 2 MP, there's no flash, and they don't even provide video capture capability out of the box? BTW here is your SSH client: http://www.kwtmac.com/2007/11/20/iphone-ex...e-ssh-terminal/ But you're not REALLY going to be logging into your employer's systems as admin from an insecure device, are you? Apple essentially has root on the iPhone... And anyone who has admin privs on your iphone can steal/destroy data on the corporate network.
  5. Glad you're happy. But I wouldn't trust the rapping-on-hand regulation method, and you might want to talk with Andrew about some of the issues. Obviously the watch came with the wrong CG, if it had to be brushed and wouldn't close on the crown without grinding....
  6. Nice indeed, Angus. Thanks for sharing!
  7. Hehehe, OK. 48,49 I can't keep my PAM numbers straight. You knew what I meant.
  8. Which watch were you wearing?
  9. You don't think it's a PAM 48? I don't think that bracelet is titanium, despite what he says.
  10. I don't think the injection of personality is a problem. It's the injection of personality minus any topical content ad nauseam that's a problem, whether it be vbarret, TTGay, or anyone else. It's happening far too much now, both in the starting of new topics and in the hijacking of / thread crapping on existing ones. To the newbies who say "But person X really helped me!" That's great. But the truth of the matter is that the forum as a whole is your greatest resource, not any single person. There is more collective knowledge here than anywhere else and nobody knows it all. That's what makes this place great.....Still. And I don't want to find myself having to restate that as "That's what made this place great........"
  11. Right, the single sided AR is an interior coating as on the gens. BTW, rnewbie is probably in for 1 on a 188.
  12. LOL - surely you realize I was *not* chiding.... ChiefDung does have a nice ring to it though. And at least we know we'll never lose the forum maestro. When the going gets tough, TTK gets rejuvenated.
  13. TALK about posturing!
  14. Corgi. You're not helping.
  15. Yea, I hear you. I've never been much of a Tag fan, but the Carrera is one that I've always given a second look... And, boy, that chrono is speaking to me. Will have to see what the rep gods bring us, but I'm not overly confident that this one is ever going to be a "super rep" either.
  16. I have to agree with andreww, but not in any way directed towards a single member. The content of the board has changed within the last 6 or so months, and unfortunately not for the better. Yes, much of it can be and is ignored, but it does become dominant and somewhat overwhelming. This is a rep watch forum. It used to be the best rep watch forum. But, unfortunately it is not heading in the right direction. Ubi is gone. The Zigmeister is losing interest. And I'm having a hard time finding interesting posts these days. What can we do? Well, for one, "cluttered dial" and "new Fiddy price" posts could be initiated where they belong on a replica watch forum: in the Off Topic section. Another point I might make, is that the Repair And Upgrade section seems to have seen much less activity since the last board update when it was moved further down toward the bottom in the sub forum list - coincidence or not, I don't know. Maybe a combination of both things. In any event it used to be my favorite sub forum and chalk full of information, but now it's rarely more interesting and/or informative than RWI's mod forum. This is sad because honestly if I wanted a forum that was 80% banter, I'd spend a lot more time on RWI. Oh well, hopefully we can chalk it up to one of those "down periods" that we've undergone over the years before (and recovered from).... Hopefully.
  17. Actually with that bracelet, a PAM 48. Same diff. Link: Another Ebay Auction
  18. I think it's a gen PAM 49 (or something like that).
  19. Lousy pics, but I think it's the real deal despite the thin crown (some gens look like that). Why would you bid on a watch without knowing if it's authentic, though?
  20. GM - I don't know what color you're looking for but I'm probably going to be buying a cognac hornback croc hide to have 3 custom straps made from... If you're interested, let me know know. I only plan to keep one strap anyhow.
  21. It's actually a pretty lousy rep. Just look at the poor date mag and conical rehaut. He's clearly trying to cover it up and avoid embarrassment, but apparently the keen photographer was too fast.
  22. Hmm, that might be the first Sinn I've seen that I actually like!!!
  23. Turned out nice, Joe.
  24. Don't worry about Silix. Everything is fine.
  25. Always best to work out problems of this sort directly with the person...
