Got your emails, B. Unfortunately, I've tapped out that resource for the time being.
Good luck with your project. I'm sure it'll be another masterpiece!
Probably gonna cost and arm and leg, but it does look good. I couldn't believe what these bakelites were selling for the last time I checked... 6-9 months ago.
The SS 16520 did dip close to $8k at one point. But they've gone back up again. Anyhow, the advice you've received thus far is sound. If gen movement is what you seek, then go to TRF and buy a gen movement with the rest of the watch wrapped around it.
Nice pics, and great information to have! Between ball peen hammers, punches, and blow torches . . . or some combination of all the above, these unskilled mainplate "mods" never cease to amaze. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what their "tools" of choice actually might be!
It's very rare and has been seen auctioning at obscene prices. Most people - even Rolex people - don't know it exists. Can't fault the pawn guy for saying it doesn't.

In fact, the things the pawn guy says are all very, very reasonable even if known by rep maniacs like us to be less than 100% accurate. He's simply reporting what he knows and has learned from his experience owning a pawn shop. I'm sure most of what he sees is canal street stuff.
