  1. Shooting a few pics over the weekend has inspired me to wear this one for a few...
  2. A blue shirt indeed. And the green is a reflection of some plants in my yard. Yea, normally, I'd go with a hue/saturation adjustment layer and a mask if I were really trying to spiff it up. But these were really just quick shots and I wrote a quick script to boost contrast and sharpness a hair - Levels for global contrast enhancement, Curves for color balance, USM for local contrast, and a touch of Smart Sharpening. That was it. Very little manual PS work done here....
  3. Reflections? What reflections?
  4. Gone. Link invalid.
  5. LOL, guys... Crack the case back, let it air dry. And then if you want it to last send it off for an ultrasonic bath and re-lube.
  6. I think it's gen also. Or at least gen dial and gen bezel...
  7. A few recent words from Mark: http://www.rwg.cc/member/Where-have-I-been-t23473.html
  8. Given the choices listed, I'd go with either the Ingenieur or the Steelfish.... I can't quite warm up to the Steelfish myself, but it's the hot new watch so you probably can't go wrong (except perhaps with the price).
  9. Neil, fantastic review. You've photographed every aspect of this watch (as usual) and have really done me a tremendous disservice as I really didn't need another watch, but now I do. *sigh* Thanks ALOT!
  10. Topic says it all....
  11. The picture below was also shot under natural light. I use two pieces of florescent lighting diffuser laminated together to diffuse the sunlight. But, actually, a light box would be great outdoors also.
  12. Soak it in WD40 inside a ziplock bag for a while. There might be some loctite on the threads, though, so this could be futile. But if you're using the right sized screwdriver blade you should be able to break it free. Make sure to apply downward force into the screw while you're twisting to help prevent the screw driver from coming out.
  13. LOL! Thanks and nice try, Robi!!
  14. Woops... Looks like you beat me to the post in OFf Topic.
  15. I must say, I did do a double take....
  16. Yes, Stephane, very much so.
  17. Thanks for the comments. The Zigmeister gets credit for most of the work. About removing metal from the case, I'm not sure... The case is already counterbored for the gen tube, and has already come dangerously close to breaking through on the underside. Essentially, there's no more metal to remove from the case... The problem is that with the inner O-ring installed, the crown just doesn't fit into the tube. The Zigmeister sent me 3 rings to try and I had no luck with any of them. A true compliment coming from you, sir. Outdoor / natural light pics, just for you! But I still need to attend the TTK school of macro lighting and composition (especially).
  18. Here are a few overdue pics of my franken sub. It started as an old school TW Best with lug holes. This long since discontinued old case is a great modding platform with its deep cylindrical rehaut, centered lugholes, and gorgeous thick crystal with polished bevel. Ubi's lead was followed for most of it, except that I wanted to emulate an earlier 16610 model with the lug holes. So my watch is very accurate compared to an A serial sub from 1998-1999 whereas Ubi's would be a F-or-later serial. The mods are: Genuine A-serial bezel insert, genuine crown, genuine tube, drilled lug holes for genuine spring bars, Noobmariner dial with super luminova, Noobmariner date overlay, Noobmariner hollow midlink bracelet, Noobmariner case back, shaped CGs. A couple issues I have with the watch are: (1) I am not sure if this is the "right" crown. Can anyone tell? Maybe it's too old, but it doesn't seem to fit into the tube quite right. With the inner O-ring in place, the stem will just not go all the way in. So I've removed that O-ring until I figure out what else to do. (2) The hands are the original TW Best hands, and they leave a little to be desired. I'd purchase some surplus MBW hands or the hands than come on Paul's $149 ETA sub in a heartbeat. I wonder if Paul sells parts. (3) Although the lug holes are drilled and do accept gen springbars, I've currently got a set of non-gen bars in there that came from TJGladeRaider. The Noobmariner bracelet can be drilled for the gen bars, but the holes break through a little on the underside of the bracelet. So, I've got two bracelets - one for gen bars that is drilled and one for TJGR bars that is not drilled. The nice thing about the TJGR bars is that they fit into the drilled lug holes and in the undrilled bracelet. A few pics below. Macro photography continues to challenge me. Thanks for looking. Comments welcome.
  19. Yea. Tap 9 to Tap 12 should be the one.
  20. Ofrei, Cousins, etc. 0.9mm female 1.2mm male.
  21. Ahhh I'm doing the same thing. A stem adapter is what you need.
  22. You might want to look at the acetimer model that was recently reviewed... It looked pretty good.
  23. It's like Deja Vu all over again.............
  24. Enough is a enough. I'll drink to that. Time to take action, live with that action, and move forward. Thank you for the thoughtful post, Bill.
