  1. Once we get to 40 commits I'm going to cut it off. I'd actually thought 40 would have been reached by now, but oh well.
  2. ETA 2824 and 2836 based watches don't exhibit this - or at least none of mine do. But my ETA 7753 does - and I love it. That rotor will get spinning so fast sometimes that it'll almost tear my arm off!!! Hehehe, seriously.
  3. You've found the right place!! Check out the dealers section and feedback sections. Many of these dealers have been around for years and are tried, true, and stand behind their sales with post-sale support. Read up.
  4. Well, mid-January is upon us and I call SHOTGUN!!! First in line anxiously looking forward to the sale.....
  5. I'm not sure who you guys are buying from but the ones I see on EBay look like generic / non-genuine wheels to me.....
  6. This is a tremendous shame to hear, and it makes me think twice about the potential hassle of the AR group runs. To those people who committed and then subsequently disappeared off the face of the earth: The RIGHT thing to do is to pay up even though you'll get nothing now. I guess my 7753 196 is forever doomed to remain inaccurate. Oh well. At least my GMT will have a perfect datewheel. Thanks for your painstaking efforts, Mark. I can't wait to receive my wheel. But, what a shame.
  7. Excellent analysis. My thoughts exactly.
  8. My favorite watch on RWG!!!
  9. A very fine specimen!
  10. Right, but where is the fun in buying a rep watch and then simply . . . . wearing it????
  11. Dander you live in SF. SF customs doesn't care about your rep watches. Don't worry.
  12. Current Count (1/9) - 20 crystals We're half way there! chieftang 2 flav 4 cjeffers58 1 subzero 5 mezzanine 5 shultz 2 avitt 1
  13. There's no guarantee that the gen crystal is going to fit. Like I said, you're going to want to measure the crystal in your watch and then buy a correctly sized replacement.
  14. That is just coarse steel wool, probably 1/0. No reason in the world to pay $14 for a small pad like that...
  15. Looked to me like he was referring to the insert/inlay and not the crystal. But my question would still be who or where did Rolex OEM the inserts from 35 or however many years ago? EDIT: OK I stand corrected. I reread the original post. Hehe, so yea, the source might be the same but the look of the crystal definitely is not.
  16. I've thought about converting my TW Classic to a no-date with a gen dial. I like it. It has a more balanced look, IMO, without the date cyclops. Criticisms of this one: Dial print too blunt. Rehaut ring is conical in shape rather than cylindrical. Positive comments: Nice hands. Nice rehaut depth. CGs appear to only need minor work.
  17. Canon 100mm f/2.8 by any chance? Great lens. L lens with a non-L price tag IMO!!
  18. Anyone who can scratch sapphire while partying and not recall how must have been having a great time. Excellent. Pop the crystal and measure the diameter and thickness with a set of calipers. It's the only way to know what will fit. PS, I doubt it is actually sapphire.
  19. Crystals With Cyclops: The crystals are not clamped in the machine, so there should be no risk of damage due to pressure. However, this AR coating is a high temperature (600F / 315C degrees) process in a vacuum chamber. There *is* a risk that the glue joint could fail during the coating process. My AR company doesn't know how high this risk is, either. So this is something to be aware of!!! That said, anyone who does lose a cyclops during the coating process would have the opportunity to buy a replacement from me when the 7mm cyclopes are available early next month
  20. As of yet still unmodded....
  21. It is things like this that have made me decide to cease being an early adopter of new models!!! *sigh*
  22. My AR guy will strip existing AR coats at a cost of $100 per lot using an acid wash. But this extra cost would be yours to bear, unless there are others who would be willing to split the cost with you. Both crystals of mine have no existing AR, so I wouldn't be contributing to the $100. There should be no issue adding a second side to a crystal that already has one side, but I'll need to be aware of it so I can make him aware of it. I don't know what kind of AR coating your crystal will have, but it's probably a cheap one that can't be touched with bare hands - so care would have to be taken.
  23. I think once we have 40, I'll just cut it off and send everyone shipping instructions. It will then just be a matter of receiving all the crystals. Those mailing crystals from the EU would hopefully use some sort of expedited shipping method. As far as the cyclops goes, I had already asked my AR guy about this. He didn't mention any risk of the clamping mechanism cause a problem, but he wasn't willing to guarantee that the glue wouldn't pop under the high temperature vacuum inside the chamber. I will double check this though and post his response....
