  1. That chieftang strap rocks the house! Then again, I am biased.... I'm chieftang.
  2. no, not gioarmani - bruce. It wasn't really a serious question, though. However I would say, that for modern subs, bruce's wins me over. The gen dial is the icing on the cake. But Ubi's is the one that originally got me started on a sub project at all and I followed his lead on alot. Likewise, Tribal is the modern sub king and has a phenominal piece too. Then, of course, for vintages it is definitely the Ubi 1665 that's bending my arm to do one of those. *sigh* It's only money.
  3. So..... Who has the best sub? Tribal, Ubi, or Bruce?
  4. gioarmani, yea that's the noobmariner dial, just with the maxi markers. Excellent dial.
  5. The first year for solid end links was 1998/1999 with the A serials.
  6. I think you can get through the level 1 class for closer to $200. Granted, a community college class would cost less, but you're not going to find a watch making class at most if any community colleges. So, yea, I'd say it's worth the money. $200-$300 is peanuts for a hobby IMO.
  7. No go. He's unable to obtain straps only from the manufacturer.
  8. If you can provide the precise dimensions, I may be able to locate a crystal for you. Be aware, however, that genuine sapphire in PAM sizes is not cheap. We're probably looking at $75ish USD or so. FWIW
  9. He seems to think it's not a rep. I contacted him. He says: "It was purchased from Tourneau in Texas. I have several Rolexs and bought The Rolex Report and pride myself on spoting fakes. There is some confusion on late P serial no. and No Hole lugs which I verified with Rolex in Dallas. Let me know if you know something I have not learned." I sent him a laundry list and requested that he pull the auction.
  10. How is the noise level? Is this something you could set on a nightstand next to the bed?
  11. Greg Stevens Crazy Horse. 24x24 all the way!!!
  12. How many watches should I wear to this?
  13. Yea I understand the crown issue but still don't think it's the culprit. It is more likely that the bezel diameter is just a hair too small. Remember that with these older TW Best watches, such as Bruce's, the genuine bezel inserts have to be slightly reduced in diameter to fit in the bezels. So that would seem to account for the slight gap that doesn't seem to be there on the modern MBW 16610. The MBW doesn't require a reduction in bezel insert diameter, and I'd guess that the nicer CNs don't either. But then, the gap is slight and definitely visible on the gen A serial from certain angles as shown in my original picture! So I don't think it's the dead giveaway that you think.
  14. Nah the originals looked good. There are a variety of pleasing effects that can be created in photoshop. I like the vignetting that draws the eye to the subject. For still life macro work it can be very effective. While I may have feathered more or done this or done that, overall I think Ubi's images looked good.
  15. Update: I talked to the owner of that sub. He says it is an A-serial that he purchased about 5-6 years ago, and offered to show the receipt. A couple more pics of the same watch show that it is not as big a gap as it appears to be in the first pic, and that the angle of the shot makes a difference:
  16. We should pin the post for sure!
  17. Hmmm.... The picture I posted is from a reputable poster in the Timezone Modern Rolex forum. I'd be stunned if it weren't gen. I don't think it's the tube hole, though... The bezel simply doesn't reach the edge of the case.
  18. Nice!! The third one from the top is my fave.
  19. I have an inquiry in with Drew....
  20. LOL ! It's an Italian thing!
  21. Exactly, the high tensile strength means you won't be able to pull the bracelet apart, such as when the watch slides down your wrist and you happen to flex your manly forearms. The flex strength of an epoxy is probably double the tensile strength, while the adhesion is around half putting this one in the 2000 psi ball park. In any event, the point was that it's damn strong stuff and that the joint itself will not fail. Consider it a cold weld with liquid steel.
  22. Bruce's is amazing as well. Pics here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=17489 Sure had me fooled. But, that's what the gen dial, gen insert, and perfectly modded CGs will do....
  23. Which alphabet are you using? I voted for the Ingy, as it's my favorite rep among those listed. Although I would say that the FM Conq is more accurate.
  24. Top notch, flav!! Keep it up!
