  1. Unbelievable. I'm going to have to say that this is easily my favorite Panerai rep of all time. And by rep... I mean veritable gen. (1) Because I want a gen 89 - it's one of the few limited/rare PAMs that are actually highly attractive too (IMO of course), and (2) because of the work that went in to it. Is that an end mill you used on the case? Very, very nicely done. I really can't say how impressive this is. Not to mention that sourcing an 89 -- let alone just the dial -- is no easy task. And the whole thing fit like a glove. Zen-like patience... now THERE is an understatement. Again, wow. Congrats on an incredible accomplishment. And obviously you know who to contact once you get sick of this watch. But if not, can I just be your friend??
  2. MMMMmmmm that new dial is a real winner. The ROLEX OYSTER COSMOGRAPH print is excellent!
  3. PS, When I wake up later this morning, I'll put this one on my wrist and head in to the office....
  4. Did anyone here used to ride BMX back in the day? Just built this old school PK to tool around the 'hood with my kids. Fun to build and brings back some good memories...
  5. Holy crap, it's already Thursday??? I gotta go to bed. Nice watch there, BT.
  6. Wow. Where did you happen upon this one? I've been looking for a 20th Anniv off and on for about 6 months, and am still waiting to find one. I actually purchased one and returned it to the owner after it arrived with scratches on the dial face about six months ago. Very hard to do, and heart breaking. For what it's worth, this particular speedy did come with a 1450 bracelet in 1989. But of course, it looks good with the 1479 also! Anyhow, very nice piece and congrats!
  7. Yea... $250 for a factory fresh 2892 vs $500 to service an unreliable Omega co-axial. Kind of a no brainer. Do a google search on Chuck Maddox... You'll find a wealth of info on Omega movements. Even though he was the chrono king, the search will lead you in the right direction.
  8. It doesn't get any better than this. Very nice. Even though that's not the right CG for the model, I think it looks fantastic. Very nicely done.
  9. BINGO! Cheers, Lani. We finally solved this one!!
  10. LOL. What would we do with out Lani!?!? Sounds like you're having fun. Dying to see the end result!
  11. Delay on my end through the busy holiday work season was unfortuante. But I would just say keep your blood pressure in line. The community as a whole is very understanding and patient, and everyone knows in the end you'll make them happy.
  12. Hehe, good stuff Lani. Glad you stuck around. My only question is have you hit $10K spent on reps yet since purchasing that first one?!
  13. Pic of mine with gen blue rubber below. I'd rather have it on a Pro 2, however. The one with the black baton dial is now on a gen Pro2, and it's an improvement.
  14. Hi j... First off I'd say that I'm surprised you say it stand out loudly. I have a couple of these on my own watches and can't see any hue unless I have it directly under strong flourescent light. I'd say take a better look under normal everyday conditions before you decide to remove it. Anyhow if you do remove it, I'd suggest mounting it on the crystal first, and then buffing it off with rouge or the like. Good luck!
  15. I'd never heard of Ball before seeing these pics. I guess I don't spend enough time on gen forums. This one looks very IWCish to me, and that integrated bezel is very slick... Pics are great too, BTW. I'll bet bead blasted, AR coated watches are a joy to photog.
  16. Hey T one of the outlets for Marathon watches is right down the street from me... Ever since you posted pics of that blasted and DLC'd SAR I've been itching to get in there and get one. Hopefully not too long from now, and then it'll on its way down south for the works! PS Love that Ball too. VERY sharp!
  17. I've got one. Never used. Go ahead and contact me. I'll make sure I can find it. It's in a watch box somewhere.
  18. Wow, Sander, that really turned out well. The date through the cyclops is really crisp. I love it as is!!
  19. Go at it with a metal polish or rouge, and you'll get it off for sure.
  20. Yea you don't want anything that says "gentle" on it.
  21. hackR, ammonia might strip off eyeglass AR (which is a different type of coating altogether), but on the tougher coatings it'll definitely be an exercise in futility as you can see. Lacquer thinner, acetone, you name it. Even with steel wool, it's going to put up a long hard fight! In fact, back when the 3717 first came out with its intense blue AR that you could hardly even see through, I found this to be almost impervious to ANYTHING. The polish I use is super expensive at about $65 per 4oz, but super effective too... Yet any time I get one of those crystals in (and thankfully its rare now), it still takes a good half hour to deal with from start to finish and that's with power tools.
  22. Definitely not Pseudo Gorgeous! JAWDROPPING!!
  23. Any loupe effect caused by the crystal won't be mitigated in any way by an AR coating.
  24. The emails are something else... Translation: "Mother Nature isn't cooperating with our agenda, goddammit! What the [censored]'s wrong with that [censored]? I thought she was a good liberal like us?" It'd be hilarious, if it wasn't such a, well, a travesty itself.
