  1. Lume shot: **Note: My white sub dial hands are lumed, and I like it that way. But, the gen doesn't have lumed sub hands.
  2. Old EL 3717 with: * Chieftang double AR * Ziggmeister dial+hands lume (removed plastic indicies) * Genuine ETA 7750 movement + DDWs
  3. The gen kevlar looks really sharp, vlydog. I have a DiModell Chronissimo for mine, but have never even tried it on. Also a sharp combo, I think.
  4. Definitely an early EL after seeing these pics, Ubi. Mine's on my wrist as I type. Couldn't agree more about the "you have to see it to believe it" sentiment. I was unsure about it at first based only on pics myself, but once in hand I loved it and for weeks straight it became a daily wear. The nice thing for you with smaller wrists, is that it'll fit like a large watch and look great at the same time. Now just keep that G10 off of it!! BTW, how tight were the tolerances on the bracelet end links when you removed it? Mine is next to impossible to get off. Anyhow, congrats again on a great pick up. You don't see the early ones around much anymore.
  5. The nice thing about DSN AR - at least the stuff used as a single sided coating that I've seen - is that if you don't like it, you can just wipe it off with a wet paper towel!! And that's no joke!
  6. Best wishes stilty, and here's to turning the page!
  7. I agree with this 100%. Love the 312 as it's the perfect combo of all things Panerai that I like. Out of curiosity, what is MSRP on this beaut?
  8. That is absolutely gorgeous!! Next time I'm down in SoCal..... A must see!
  9. I may have a spare AR coated (chief AR ) UPO crystal... I could trade for your uncoated crystal + cash for my coated UPO crystal... Let me go through my stock and double check.
  10. Lanikai is just trying to be low key.... Here's a pic of his den:
  11. It is a weightless (and IMO worthless) piece of tin. Don't worry about its absence.
  12. Hello, A quick note to notify everyone that I will be discontinuing the UK/EU AR arrangement. I have notified Rocket that I will honor any work he might have already planned to send my way, but upon completion I will not be accepting additional crystal lots for AR coating. Anyone in the UK or the EU who wishes to participate directly in my AR runs is still welcome, as has always been the case. However, going forward, AR projects that involve intermediaries will be limited to the "old timers", The Zigmeister and Vaccum. I have built up a reputation over almost 3 years now for providing the best AR coating on the forums and for having always been dedicated to customer satisfaction, which is presumably why demand always exceeds supply for these runs. And in order to maintain this level of service and satisfaction I need to be in control of every aspect of these projects, otherwise I am in the position of being associated with issues that arise which (1) I'm not even aware have occurred; and (2) over which I have no control. I find this is simply an unreasonable position to be in, and hopefully everyone can understand. FYI, and thanks for listening. B.
  13. More great work from avitt here... Really nice, T. I always drooled over davidws's 196. BTW, I don't know how you painted it but I've heard that product called Lacquer Stiks work really well... maybe that was mentioned in the old TRC thread. Don't remember.
  14. He's wrong. Go get it before he ruins the bezel. The movement and dial come out the case back side of the watch.
  15. Holy Moly! PS How about Hugh G. Rection ?
  16. This is right... Japan lost a decade despite an underlying sound economy. Their public works stimulus programs were self-funded.... Our situation is much different, and in reality, much worse. So, just curious fat.tail, as a portfolio manager who is bearish on the dollar what are your general strategies beyond gold, MERKX (or equiv), and commodities?
  17. Really nice, Vac. I like the 5004 model a lot.
  18. Inspector General: We do not have jurisdiction to go out and directly audit reserve bank activity. Alan Grayson: Well, I have a copy of the Inspector General Act right here, and it says among other things your responsibility is to conduct audits and investigations relating to the programs and operations of your agency. So I'm asking you ... if you're not responsible for investigating (the Fed's) $9T off balance sheet transactions, who is? Inspector General: We have responsibility ... to conduct audits and investigations in that area. Ummm. In terms of who's responsible for investigating ... umm, would you mind repeating the question one more time??
  19. HR 1207 is, last I heard, gaining bi-partisan support and rapidly so. I even heard Ron Paul sounding surprised by its momentum in a recent clip from one of the financial news channels. Fingers crossed!
  20. Nice one guys... Lani she's a keeper!
  21. Well, there's sorting out this mess, and then there's sorting out this mess in such a way as to ensure your reelection... The two do not go hand in hand, and so it'll be a while before this actually does get sorted out because it'll take being in very dire straights. But I remain convinced that at some point even the politicians will be forced to consider whether or not a system that, since its inception, has caused the dollar lose 95% of its purchasing power is the best possible of all systems and then act appropriately, ironically, in order to remain in office.
  22. When asked what he would do to solve the economic crisis if appointed as Federal Reserve Chair, Jim Rogers responded "Abolish the Federal Reserve, and then resign." Here's to hoping he gets appointed!
