  1. Well, the rep arrived yesterday. I think it may be from Ghetto's supplier as the bezel is polished and it also has the laser engravings on the bracelet and the 4 digit number on the underside of the watch case, in between the lugs. I am blown away by the quality (has a good quality "feel" to it), and I have to say the bracelet has almost as much appeal as the watch itself. The only (minor) flaws I am able to find are:

    1) Perhaps a slightly different date font, although not "in your face" different

    2) Crown on the rep has wider spaced ridges as you can see in the pics above

    3) I have the white dial version and the model/serial number engraved on my rep's caseback is WJF2113 BA0570. I think it should be WJF2111 as stated above.

I have another rep I recently received which is going to require spending an additional $400-500 if I want to get it to the same level of quality/Gen resemblance as this one is out of the box. I guess if I used chrono functions I would have gone for the big brother (asian 7750), but I also like that this one has a Swiss ETA 2824-2 under the hood.

  2. Nice review! So good in fact that I went ahead and pulled the trigger on one of these. Not my typical style but I need something for the office that is subtle and will not get called out. I plan to take Rolexman's advice and get the bezel polished (considering taking only the bezel to a jeweler for polishing) as the pics of Gens I found all show a polished bezel. Anyone else have one of these?

  3. Calling on experts...

Do you think it is worth paying the extra for an ETA rep, or are asian almost as reliable than ETA?

Some time ago I did only go for ETA but now did the asian movement improve significantly?

    Thanks for the advice.

Sorry I am not an expert so I hope you don't mind me replying. I think you should also consider whether the watch is chrono or non-chrono as I have read the chrono function places more stress on the movement for which the swiss eta may be better suited. Just my 2 cents.

  4. Looks like I'm moving to China.

In the Peoples Republic of China, those caught manufacturing counterfeit watches are treated to a lavish dinner hosted by the Mayor of whatever city the offense has occured. They are then subjected to a bevy of young naked women who tie down the offender and subject him to various sexual indiscretions. These events are photographed and distributed to other potential counterfeiters so as to cause them great alarm and disuade them from their business practice. Seems like the law has been pretty effective so far. :whistling:
  5. Great thread.

I think it's missing the point to say that people without money wear expensive jewelry and such. Also doesn't matter if the guy is a jerk or just doing his job. There are many jerks in this world and probably always will be. Point is, if you're wearing a watch that does not match your financial/social class then you should be prepared for it to be scrutinized. It's a good idea to know exactly how you're going to handle the situation (e.g. blow it off & walk away, get tough & macho, or concede & laugh it off) before it arises.

  6. Hi, I am new to rwg and new to replicas as well. I have been lurking around a few weeks and have already learned a lot...although still a n00b. I appreciate the knowledge sharing that goes on here and just wanted to say hello.
