  1. A friend of mine (who lives a little far from me), when he knew I had a great looking daytona (TT 14k black dial with golden "not-filled" but just outlined subdials) was so enticed, he ended up getting it (NOW HERE IS THE INTERESTING PART): when he receives the watch he immediately calls me saying I sent him a ladies watch! He kept on pestering me for 3 weeks saying he was tempted to ship it back as it was totally impossible that Daytonas would be that small! With websites and other proof I managed to convince him to keep the piece but to this day (a year after) he is still not fully convinced!!!
  2. Additional Infos: Initially a Tryed to open it with the Bergeon to tool, but the biggest one (29.5) wouldn't fit properly (Ceramic's back is slightly bigger), so I went to a watch smith and he used a weird tool I never seen (it adapts to any case) and we opened it up. The movement is the Asian 2836-2 and we could simply put the rotor back by pressing with our fingers. It seemed fine, I scrolled the watch violently to see if it would fall off, but it didn't so we closed the thing and all was fine and dandy for around 3 weeks after which, it fell off again and so we did it again. This is the third times it falls though. I have to bring the watch to him in order to open it and take some pictures, but since he's far from me, I can go next week. In the mean time if someone wants to suggest solutions, they are certainly welcome!
  3. Hi Everyone, A couple of months ago I received a GMT ceramic from Josh, the movement arrived with its oscillating mass (the rotor, the thing already detached and loose inside the watch case. I manged to open the watch and place it back but it keeps falling off! I am tempted to use a needle and just "dirty up" (oh so slightly) the internal ring of the loose part with just a tiny bit of glue (as I said just an ultra slim layer). Do you think it will work? Or what would you suggest instead? Thank you all for the help!!
  4. What seems weird to me, is that I tried the 29.50 on the following: GMT II Ceramic, GMT II Pepsi, Date Just man size, Daytona. It doesn't work with any of the above (it would seem "half a mm" smaller than it should be) aside from Subs, is there any other REP RLX watch that you open with the 29.50? Or should I assume that thi kind of "six chucks set" is only good for Subs and Ladies watches?
  5. But Gio's wrench doesn't seem suitable for oyster type cases (shouldn't it be with the classic chucks?) I fear that the case back could slip underneath if it doesn't grip tightly (thad dented part in the case back is finicky to say the least, one problem being the part that the wrench should grip which is not perpendicular...). Does anybody have hands on experience with the tool Gio's mentioned?
  6. So the wrench that Gioarmani pointed out is the only one that will open a GMT ceramic? What about a Daytona? (same story?) You mean even a Bergeon branded wrench (the one that comes with the 6 different chucks) will not open the GMT?
  7. Tried both... (I bought a sticky ball a couple of months ago) they are very tight and won't budge... I don't have a case holder/bech vice though, are they needed? Or using the correct wrench (Bergeon) should I be able to open the case holding the case with one hand and applying force with the other?
  8. The fact is, Bentson part No5537 (the original one at least) is Rolex certified, and costs a lot (paid mine 60Eur), but as I said I'm not convinced this is original, shouldn't the chuck fit firmly on the case back (going evenly down)? Mine, if I put it perfectly ot the center, doesn't go all the way down and doesnt "grip" the caseback. If I press a little more, it goes down on one side while staying "up" just a little on the other side, it would seem that if it was a tad larger (say, half a millimiter or less) it would fit... (and sadly this is the biggest one in the set,) I tryed to adjust the position in many ways but it just doesn't firmly fit...
  9. Hi Everyone, I just bought a set for opening Rolex Cases (Bentson No5537) but it doesn't seem to open anything. The biggest one (29.50) is slightly smaller than both my Rep Daytona and Rep GMT II Ceramic (also tryed on a non ceramic GMT II and Datejust, same story). The box doesn't seem to be original in my opinion (a picture I saw online displayed the word "ROLEX" on the side of the package - not on mine - and the internal blister was different too, also the the whole Benston print on the cover box is a sticker...) Could it be that this is a rep-case opener that doesn't work? Am I doing something wrong? Any help is appreciated!
  10. SOLVED!!! It turns out Adreww was right (BIG THANKS MAN!!! ) in my case i put the watch upside-down on a puffy leather wallet and banged the thing lightly with a watch hammer (those that have one side metallic and the other anti-scratch, I used the latter of course). After two hours it didn't gain a single second (it would have gained 8 minutes as it was before!!!) Hope this might solve other fellow member's problems too! Thanks a lot to everyone you for all your different advices and thanks again to andreww!
  11. Hello, I indeed slapped the thing Sadly though it didn't produce the slightest change the watch is running ultrafast as before Could it be that I slapped it too lightly? Should the watch be running during the slap or should I stop the seconds hand? Please let me know
  12. I will think about it during the week end and I will let you know on monday
  13. I don't think that if I slap it the problem would get "much worse" to the point that bringing the watch to a watch maker afterward he would find it unserviceable. Or would it?
  14. The more I think about it the more I become prone not to ship anything back... Now this accounts for the one I have given to my brother in law (we ordered 2, mine was still in bubble-wrap untill 20 minutes ago...) now hear this you're gonna love it... Mine doesn't work at all!!! It seems that the rotor is dislodged (a metal "thing" that would appear to have the same size as the rotor, is movin freely inside) Since I will probably have to bring it to a watch smith (no more problems with customs and RLX lawyers thank you very much) , my question is, would it be difficult to install it back? (maybe it would be cheaper to buy a case-back opener for RLX cases and do it myself?)
  15. Oh well, I will try the slap then How strong should I spank the thing? Should it be upside-down when I do it?
