  1. Haha see the 4fun part doesn't sound so convincing... Where you located? EU? As for now I don't need much, well nothing really, but in the event that I do order another watch and can obtain gen parts... I'd be happy to. PS.. how much does your watchsmith charge for servicing... say a Sub... you can pm me.
  2. The issues here are time and funds. True, modding may be expensive, but it may be costlier to actually have to buy all the equipment and a few watches so you can see if you were really gifted with dexterity and patience. And not to mention getting it wrong a few times and messing up your own watch, etc., that again would cost a heap. Yes indeed, long term costs may not be as much, but then again, I only have two or three reps. So going all handicraft on my watches is not something I'd dare do. There are some trusted modders, I'd gladly shell out out a few bucks for. The Zigmeister for example, bless him. A shame I don't live in his vicinity or in a customs problem free country cause I'd be paying for his services right away. There is or should I rather say WAS Palpatine. I had my Sub (which is most definitely not up to standard anymore with all those noobmariners) and PAM 183 modded with him, he did a great job as well and was always on time and honest with me. Additionally, some people like me, just can't the find time to sit down and mod. I tend to be very active and can't stay seated for a longer period of time, especially for something that requires as much patience as modding. I'd go nuts. Either thats just my tough luck or its common amongst many people. Fact is we will always have/need modders, we will always have people willing to spend money on them and we will always have scammers trying to pretend they are modders. All we need to do is keep our eyes open. P.S. I hate to bring this subject up, may be bad memory for some, but why did Big Red Joe get banned? I think that happened in the period that I was absent from RWG. Regards, VW
  3. Glad I could lighten up a few!
  4. Thats very true, but who says Window users want to use Mac programs? We already have more than enough variety of programs to choose from. (I'm speaking from experience, I owned a G4 Tower for 3 years and a G3 Blue and White 5 years before that.) I think a lot of people would agree with me when I say that Macs are damn good for video editing and animation, but then again the average laptop user knows jack about animation and there are good enough video editing programs for Windows as well. Why spend the extra bucks to get a Mac? Besides.. I don't know if the new Quad-Cores are available for Mac laptops yet, and not sure if the laptops have the graphics capacity that Window laptops have. Here in Austria there is some PC company that make custom laptops with 768 MB graphics card processing power.. If thats not a power house I don't know what is. You won't even need central heating in the winter if you've got one of those mothers.... lol Although being able to run both Mac and Windows programs on a Mac may sound like a good argument, it really isn't... Just my 2 cents... Regards, VW
  5. IMO, forget Sony.... More bucks for the name and not much better than other brands like Dell or Acer...
  6. A teacher asks her class, "If there are 5 birds sitting on a fence and you shoot one of them, how many will be left?" She calls on little TONY. He replies, "None, they will all fly away with the first gunshot." The teacher replies, " The correct answer is 4, but I like your thinking." Then little TONY says, "I have a question for YOU. There are 3 women sitting on a bench having ice cream: One is delicately licking the sides of the triple scoop of ice cream The second is gobbling down the top and sucking the cone. The third is biting off the top of the ice cream. Which one is married?" The teacher, blushing a great deal, replied, "Well, I suppose the one that's gobbled down the top and sucked the cone." To which Little TONY replied, "The correct answer is 'the one with the wedding ring on," but I like your thinking." LITTLE TONY ON MATH (Part 2) Little TONY returns from school and says he got an F in arithmetic. "Why?" asks the father? "The teacher asked 'How much is 2x3,'" I said "6", replies TONY. "But that's right!" says his dad. "Yeah, but then she asked me "How much is 3x2?'" "What's the f...... difference?" asks the father. "That's what I said!" LITTLE TONY ON ENGLISH Little TONY goes to school, and the teacher says, "Today we are going to learn multi-syllable words, class. Does anybody have an example of a multi-syllable word?" TONY says "Mas-tur-bate." Miss Rogers smiles and says, "Wow, little TONY, that's a mouthful." Little TONY says, "No, Miss Rogers, you're thinking of a blowjob." LITTLE TONY ON GRAMMAR Little TONY was sitting in class one day. All of a sudden, he needed to go to the bathroom. He yelled out, "Miss Jones, I need to take a [censored]!!" The teacher replied, 'Now, TONY, that is NOT the proper word to use in this situation. The correct word you want to use is 'urinate.' Please use the word 'ur-i-nate' in a sentence correctly, and I will allow you to go." Little TONY, thinks for a bit, and then says, "You're an eight, but if you ha d bigger boobs , you'd be a TEN!" LITTLE TONY ON GRAMMAR (Part 2) One day, during lessons on proper grammar, the teacher asked for a show of hands from those who could use the word "beautiful" in the same sentence twice. First, she called on little Suzie, who responded with, "My father bought my mother a beautiful dress and she looked beautiful in it." "Very good, Suzie," replied the teacher. She then called on little Michael. "My mommy planned a beautiful banquet and it turned out beautifully." She said, "Excellent, Michael!" Then the teacher reluctantly called on little TONY. "Last night at the dinner table, my sister told my father that she was pregnant, and he said 'Beautiful, just f...... beautiful!'" LITTLE TONY ON GETTING OLDER Little TONY was sitting on a park bench munching on one candy bar after another. After the 6th one a man on the bench across from him said, "Son, you know eating all that candy isn't good for you. It will give you acne, rot your teeth, and make you fat." Little TONY replied, "My grandfather lived to be 107 years old." The man asked, "Did your grandfather eat 6 candy bars at a time?" Little TONY answered, "No, he minded his own f....... business.
  7. @smilingbear Definitely no pricing. That would be totally up to the modder and the customer as per PM or emailing. Just the name with the different services offered, for example which movements serviced, etc... And location as in just country. Exact contact details and address would only be given to the customer at the time of service requirements.. @steppen Only The Zigmeister, eh?? Darn... I just had this 'feeling' there were a few more... We REALLY need more modders... especially in the EU... :'(
  8. Well either I'm just bloody stupid and have just not picked it up or there really isn't a defined list of who mods and exactly where from. It really could be that I have just been lost in this vast forum of information upon information upon, etc.... You get the point. I think this would be a good idea for newbs, veterans with bad memory, or members like me who have disappeared for a long time and come back after half a year and are totally and utterly confused. Sure, we go through the entire forum and often get a general idea of who mods and exactly where. For example, Finepics does luming in the UK, The Zigmeister does pretty much everything in Canada, etc... If we had this list pinned in a certain section, (For example, watch upgrades and repairs) fools like me wouldn't keep asking the same questions over and over again. I don't know... sound like a good idea? Now the only question is... who's willing to undertake this assignment? Regards, VW
  9. What do we do when we LOVE the Fiddy, (127) but our wrists are too small!? We go to the gym like good boys and train those forearms and make sure we eat lots of chicken and beef so ONE day, we won't look like fools sporting a Fiddy! Regards VW
  10. Looks really great rosnik, if I only had the skill and the funds to undergo a project like that.. I will just have to settle for a rep thats a little less perfect than yours... :'(
  11. @jdavis I have to agree with you on that, considering the price tag... Ofrei's components are often just as expensive as the entire rep... I love your camel by the way, reminds me of the times when I used to live in Cairo. @scotty Its a shame the gen bezel wouldn't fit, if it did and you'd be willing to spend the money, you'd have a great rep, but I guess we just have to be careful not to exceed the spending limit. That is the spending should not reach all the way to that of a gen... I feel that sometimes modders overreact and in the end realize they could have just purchased the gen... :/ Good luck anyways, looking forward to seeing your pics!
  12. Hey Scotty, how's your UPO doing? Have you found a solution to your problem? Would it possible to order an original bezel/insert/pearl from Ofrei and have that installed? No idea... hope all is well Regards, Viennawatch
  13. I do agree with you, if the cost of the original is not that expensive. In this case the PO is not a watch thats super expensive. Around the 2000 to 2500 Euros mark... If you end up spending over a 1000 euros on the watch and mods, you might as well save up some extra cash for a few months and go for the gen... For watches that range from 4000 to 50000 Euros or over, modding seems to make more sense. But of course there is nothing like a good relume! Thats def worth it in my opinion! Regards Viennawatch
  14. Ohh yes another project! This is always interesting! I never had a thing for the RWG Special Edition watch... Maybe thats because the RWG logo was too big... Looking forward your watch creation! Best of luck!
  15. Donation made. (20 Euros) Once I find myself a job again, I will become a supporter! For now, leave my broke ass alone...
  16. I have to agree with docblackrock on that one... Back on the old RWG, a member was giving out a free Baume & Mercier rep which I happily accepted. The shipment left from Florida, arrived in Austrian customs. I received the infamous yellow letter... I said the package wasn't mine and it was shipped back to him. Otherwise I would have had to pay a fine or taxes... Not worth the risk and costs for me... Otherwise I'd be all over TWP's watches....
  17. From who did you order your UPO from? Both of you guys if you don't mind.
  18. @Teejay Sorry, but you are wrong... http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/grammar/g_apost.html The apostrophe forms possessive nouns. @Giorgio Thanks man, I almost thought I was wrong... @Rafib Indeed, you are right... @Corgi Sorry Corgi... I guess I got carried away... I hope you can get your watch fixed. Someone did say that The Zigmeister is in Canada! I'm sure he can help you out!
  19. @Teejay Its not about the product guarantee. Its about that 'Ahhhhhhh' feeling you get when sporting a gen, which you probably get as well when wearing a good rep. However the question is, how big is the 'Ahhhhhh' compared to that of a gen's? If you get what I am saying sir. haha :Jumpy:
  20. Haha! Where the hell did you read that I was saying your dad is oriental? Come on, your English seems pretty flawless to me for you to be making a mistake like that. Look at what context 'Oriental' is in. I was referring to his 'Oriental' watch that has been working 30 years. You are really are funny! Well I wouldn't have tried to stir any controversy had I known what 'you read that right' was referring to. Now that it has been explained, I'm at peace. Subject closed. Regards, Viennawatch
  21. My question is, what has Iraq have to do with this? I understand your dad's Oriental has been working for 30 years plus, but was it necessary to mention the fact that he bought it from Iraq? I'm not sure whether Iraq all of a sudden is synonymous to good or bad quality? Or has Oriental been known for bad quality? Sorry man, but I don't see the connection here. All I know is a rep will always be a rep whereas a gen will always be a gen. Whether the rep has an ETA movement or not, it will always have a greater chance of going bust. I understand your fit of rage, but I don't think there is a need for overreaction. Sorry, but I usually get sensitive when it comes to topics like these (Iraq)... I'm sure you didn't think twice when writing that though... Its cool...
  22. This sounds interesting, I will be interested to see pictures taken for this. I shall not participate though, because I for some reason never had an interest in cameras... :/ Good luck to you all!
  23. Nice collection! If I only didn't have that quality itch, I'd have as many or many more watches than in your collection.. Up to date its 3 reps for me only and it shall stay that way for a while... I think....
