  1. It is the "moon watch" but a real mmon watch is "black" face etc. but everyone knows that. I bought 2x Moons/Lemania from Joshua, had pins put in for the band and picked up a NATO watchband....it looks Awesome...however...the watch doesn't always keep time, even when wound...and it must be wound a lot. I'd love to see it in "automatic" which is available through some channels except the face has numbers around the dial which, in my book, throws the accurracy of the watch way off. This one doesn't have that, and seems to have automatic movement....hmmm, do they have it in black>?

(These are old photo reviews rescued from the original RWG site; I didn't want them to get lost forever! Old hands will already have seen them; some newbies might be interested.-- Dave)

    Omega Speedmaster "Moon Watch"

Received from Abay 3 September 2004

SS with black bezel and white dial; case back with usual NASA inscription. Asian movement.

Diameter without crown: 40mm. Actual subdial functions: day, date, 24-hour.

Here is how the watch originally looked. It came with what was called a "brown" strap but what was actually one of those typical, poorly croc-printed straps that is very nearly red in colour. Abay discontinued offering this particular watch shortly after I bought it. It had been incorrectly listed as a Broad Arrow but obviously was not, from the pictures. Neither should it have been termed a "moon watch" since it is not. I liked the appearance of the watch itself and had wanted a "Moon Watch" caseback to show some younger space-related friends who had not been around during those days. But for some reason I was never inclined to put it on and wear it. It was a long time before I realized that its appearance was quite ruined by the strap...

Voilá! I very recently installed a nice black strap with Omega deployant, and suddenly this has qualified as one of my daily beaters! The white stitching on the black strap also complements perfectly the watch's bezel. I think it made all the difference in the world and its 40mm size is for me almost perfect:

    Thanks for looking!

  2. I don't think that worked. EMS...ok, ordered 2x watches from Josua, only one iarrived in the envelope. The Caveat is the watches are going to a BFPO (British Forces Post Office) address, headed to Diego Garcia (thus avoiding US customes.)

An HKTAN ordered same time, arrived on Diego Garcia aproximately same time.

Joshua said the 2nd package is on the way...if both were drop shipped at the same time, would EMS keep the same tracking number? I heard today his e-mail was highjacked so he might be slow to respond, if that helps anybody.

As everyone else urges, I too urge patience--though the owner of the 2nd watch is anxious.

    Regards all..

  3. How much are the used reduced day/date going for these days? I picked one up from Omega in the UAE after the sales representative talked me out of the moonwatch..."Hey, I'll surely use the date function!" Then I got in on a good deal for an X-33, my daily wear/and alarm. Regardless, now I'm jonesing for a moon watch and I just dont wan't to pull the trigger on an authentic....I'm looking at PT's.

  4. Yes I am a newb. I have already bought a watch from Joshua. But I keep coming across references to an MBW and WM watches but I haven't been able to find a photobuck/selection to view, or much information beyond that (without hassling luckyy--one of the apparent dealers.) Can somone please explain to me, how to get one if that good and maybe provide a rough figure.

    Regards all...

  5. True true on age. I'm sure banging aroudn the inside of a B-52 will do well to 'age' it some...I popped off the bezel today and added kinks to the spring, suggestions by Klink....and now it's a lot tighter. I'm fine with the crystal but may try running a bead of epoxy sealant around the crystal, for when I forget to take it out of the shower...and likely run a dremmel over it when I get back.

My wife knows I have the propensity for spending money when I deploy (Persian rugs, Omega watches)...I can't wait to see her face on this one.

    Thanks for the reply-

  6. 5517--Water 'resistant' I can dig. IE, could handle taking a shower etc. The inside of my crystal on the 5517 military sub fogged slightly. So..with that a few questions.

    1. Is the bezel suppossed to click? Min spins freely and removes easily from the watch...

    2. What 'mods' if any would be good for this watch? I'd like to be able to at least get in the shower with the thing.

But it is a pretty watch from Joshua

  7. I have an Omega Day Date/Reduces Chrono from Dubai, since I'm not actually at home to compare the two up close; the pictures available on kingshowbox.com look fairly accurate to me. The casework looks fine, as well as the lip between case and crystal. What impressed me the most was the quality of the band--even though I would prefer to have the NATO strap.

I joined the forum yesterday and I would like to ad that all of the 'dealers' I have emailed (the ones with the most compliments) have posted speedy response and been very professional (important!) As everyone says, read-and-learn! I cannot agree more.

The introduction email from "Klink" also serves a helpful guide. As for Omega's, look for the Omega review/information boy "ky-tor" I think I got that wrong...do a search for Omega Review, and you should find him. He also has good information on polishing your rep.

Personally I own 2x Omega's, the Day/Date Speedy-Pro, and an X-33. Since I have a fetish for watches larger than my pocketbook, this site was a breath of fresh air. PM me for the list of professional dealers I have spoken with and I will be glad to pass along.

    Best Regards,
