If the crown and stem is similarly misaligned then the dial and movement are correctly aligned with each other but the movement/dial unit is not correctly positioned in the case. I would suggest that you remove the case back, loosen the movement clamps and get it correctly aligned before tightening it properly again. Should be a simple fix.

As far as I'm concerned I would be happy to take a chance on the new Asian 7750 movement if the hand sizes were the same as the old Asian / Swiss 7750. This would mean that a swap would be straightforward when needed and a new Swiss movement can be bought for 200 - 250USD. The different hand sizes is the most annoying, unnecessary piece of aggravation in this whole issue. Please campaign for this to be taken up with the movement manufacturer. I am suspicious of the offer of a Swiss movement option as I suspect that the Asian sized hands will be simply glued onto the Swiss movement rather than manufacturing a special run of hands to suit the few who go for this (expensive) option. If you do buy a Swiss movement watch then it may be some time before you find that the hands cannot be removed for a service or repair. PLEASE MAKE THE ASIAN 28,800 DIRECTLY COMPATIBLE WITH THE ETA 7750.

I had considered this but yellomen is correct - it's not the Asian 7750 which is the problem, it is the useless module which transfers the running secs to 6. I had The Zigmeister remove the module from mine, service the A7750 and now it doesn't have any running secs but works perfectly. I just leave the chrono running all the time and I now have a watch which runs and tells the time. The other problem with replacing the A7750 with a Swiss movement is the difference in hands sizes between the two which simply complicates the whole procedure.

I recently bought a gold 6497 movement from a Bulova pocket watch. It is really nicely finished with a circular swirling finish on the main cogs rather than the sunburst finish. The plates have a chamfered edge and are the same shape as the preV Panerai plates without the cut outs where the clamp screws go. Alternatively the CDG finished Swiss 6497 movements are top class and look really well under display backs.

There were a number of reasons why I was initially suspicious, including the cannon pinion. The CG lever does not sit flush with the outer curve of the CG, just like my rep and unlike my mates gen which is totally flush when it's closed. Also the general finish of the brushed case and polished bezel seem to be not quite the normal Panerai standard. However I was just curious......it caught my eye as I scrolled through the post.

Mine would only run while I was wearing it, even when it had been fully wound by hand. It normally stopped approx 10 minutes after I took it off each time. My solution was to send it to The Zigmeister and have the whole movement replaced with a reliable, serviced Asian 7750 that I had been using in my GST, with the module removed and no running seconds. Now the watch runs normally with no seconds and both sub dials operating only when in chrono mode. The GST now has an ETA 7750 which fixes the 'droopy' day issue and the ETA date and date wheels are a much closer font to the original. Altogether 2 watches sorted, albeit with the loss of the constant seconds on the Porto.

It should be a 100% straightforward swap - I have done it without any hassle and the hands fitted properly. However, unless you have a gold movement which was previously fitted in another watch it is unlikely to have the correct height pinion and hour wheel. You would be well advised to chech this out and change the parts now rather than pulling it apart again later.

I have my WM DRSD on a grey Nato and my gen vintage Omega Seamaster 300 on a black one. This protects the gen Omega bracelet from wear and avoids me having to wear the rep Rollie item which feels cheap and nasty, but then gen Rolex bracelets also feel a bit rubbish so I suppose it's accurate. I love the Natos and I think that they suit these 2 watches very well.

Yes, you should be 'able' to wind the watch with the CG lever closed, on both gens and reps, but it is not advisable to do so, as the closed lever puts pressure on the rubber 'o' ring under the crown and winding in this position would cause excessive wear of the seal.

Nice watch. These 001s are the amongst best Panerai reps out there. There were a few 'T' dial B series but most were 'L' dials.

I agree with the reluctance to buyany Asian movement however attractive the watch, particularly as the 28,800 chrono movement has diffrent hand sizes than the Swiss 7750. I have 2 GSTs that I will get swapped to Swiss movements but I'm buying no more Asain chronos with the newer movements. I also totally agree with the confidence in the Unitas / ETA PAMs. Mine all have unaltered movements and solid casebacks........way to go.

The rep crown seems to be a different shape......more domed and possibly a smaller diameter? Can it be confirmed that the subdial hands will be manufactured in Swiss sizes rather than glueing the Asian size hands onto the smaller posts on the Swiss movements? If they will be manufactured to fit the Swiss ETA 7750 they would also suit the GST where ETA movements are being retro fitted.

100% GEN. Yes, H & I series 000 / 005 dials haven't been repped yet and this one has the gen crown and CG. The rep 000 has the correct shape logo, unlike the rep 005, but both have the incorrect 'A' in PANERAI / MARINA and the rep 000 has an incorrect 'R', with a straight front leg, which is totally maddening. Overall I consider the rep 000 to be a much better rep than the 005 as it doesn't have the same pinion problem, due to no running seconds and the hour & minute hands being mounted closer to the dial. I have a rep 000 fitted with the correct caseback rather than the 5218/201A caseback and a brushed Jimmy Fu CG - I think that it's one sweet watch with a genuine Swiss Unitas / ETA that hasn't been altered since it left the ETA factory.

Can anyone please explain how the rotating bezel is assembled on the rep Navitimer. I have one where the bezel is loose and can actually be lifted partially off the case. There seems to be 3? screws that hold the upper bezel onto a lower internal ring but I can't figure out how to get at them to tighten the whole slide rule / bezel up. Can anyone help please?

Yes, there were 2 versions of the 029 tuxedo dial - the 'A' series 'T' dial with the markers set in a smaller circle (like the gen pictured above) and the 'B' series 'L' dial with the markers closer to the edge of the dial (the rep is accurate in this respect).

The IWC GST chronos all had the 28,800 'new' Asian movements. AFAIK these were first watches to have the new movement. The use of different sized hands is the most irritating, pointless and frustrating thing about Asian movements.

Adam-Co's stuff is all legit and he frequently has Panerai parts. If this sells at that price it is a good indication of the profit that can be made from 'breaking' Panerai watches and selling the various parts.
