  1. sweet; dropped dime for the one year membership
  2. Ok very strange. Went to post something in for sale but it says I am not a member. No problem; I figure it is time to spring for the 1 year subsription. I go to buy it; and I have a current session paid - it just isn't showing up. I think whatever; I will just buy the 1 year anyways - but I can't because I have an ongoing member subscription (it shows up in my subscription center, just under my name). If someone could sort this out I would _greatly_ appreciate it! (either buy just canceling out the current one so I can buy a new one, or making the current one active - no difference to me) Thanks so much, you mods are the best! Cray
  3. Arithur? I didn't see it in the offers section...? I am afraid of the date model though; tritium could crumble and fuzz up the movement; as stated here many times previous.
  4. I have this and love it as well. Really beautiful watch. Only time I have broken my "no gold" rule. Could you post a link to where you got the strap? I am thinking of getting one like that, or maybe brown.
  5. edited because I read it wrong and am retarded. I want to buy daylight and 113 white face next. For mfg; I would like to see better vintage. Also, the new cali dial with the engravings on the lugs is a top pick of mine.
  6. Be sure to post pics! The panerai are relatively easy to pick out; not so much difference between the models. I have eddies and love the little bugger to death. One tip on the 111h: they will probably be upgrading the movement in those with a functioning swan neck soon, as they did to the movement in the 127, etc this month. If I were you I would enjoy the submariner a month or two, rest on your laurels, and snag the 111h on the next update.
  7. If I were to buy a modern sub today it would be the TW Best Classic
  8. i was about to post that thread.... your best place to start dude.
  9. Wow good job on the inlay. Would love to have a custom dining table done like that w/ a parque (spelling?) finish top one day.
  10. I would leave it out to dry overnight just to be safe? That can't be good for the movement...
  11. Someone say Cartier? Someone say Chopard eszecha (which I need to sell soon). My personal favorite is the second cartier from the left. Something new for each black tie occasion!
  12. Allow me to clarify my short response. Well there are reps; but they have the subdials functioning as day of week and date on the "Gulf-style" ones and the "Steve McQueen" ones. At least on what I have seen.
  13. The McQueens seem to be reasonable at under 2K. The thing holding me back is I know I would never wear it; I would just look at it (I would be buying it because it was the Steve McQueen Monaco and I liked the movie, I know my panerais or 1680 red sub would always jump on the wrist first). If there was no connection to McQueen / LeMans I know I would never buy it; so that seems like a silly reason to pull the trigger. Perhaps Ms. Future Craytonic will purchase one for me as a gift to pay back all that crappy david yuman stuff I buy her (She loves his jewelry, I am not the biggest fan). One can always hope.
  14. You are right; I think if I was going to get one I would go through a more reputable dealer though. The only 2 watches I have though about getting off ebay are an old Bulova Accutron and a Tag Heuer Monico Steve McQueen (not repped and I can spot problems on it well enough).
  15. BTW a post of yours on vintage rolex datewheels saved me about $200; didn't realize the gen ones go in the wrong direction!
  16. I also think there is somewhat of a hierarchy around here with knowledge. The questions I ask some of the most knowing members probably are silly and simple to them (i.e. ubiquitus). They are also probably answered somewhere else on the site and I just couldn't find it. But usually I get some help. Likewise I think in turn those of us who aren't in the expert category owe it to the board to help with the easier questions when we can. Perhaps we will learn something from the poster another day.
  17. I just don't see the point in a 100 word diatribe on not answering a question. It seems best to either answer the question or not and move on... Taking 10x the time it would take to type a 1 sentence useful response to opine about questions seem silly.
  18. The seamasters aren't too expensive; I keep looking at them on ebay. Cost of a good rep or two for the gen.
  19. My mother used to tell me "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." I think it is a good rule most of the time. I don't see the harm in posting a useful reply/answer to this sort of thread if one is so inclided (as I was). If you think it is a waste, don't waste your time with a reply. I had some spare time and felt like opining an answer. Next time someone else may feel the same way. You can probably guess from the title of the post what it is about and just not click on it if you don't want to help the poster. I think posting "do a search" or this has already been answered is the worst response. If people do indeed search, they will just get a zillion threads where the poster is told to do a search. If people only post useful replies, instead of just jumping all over the poster, it will make the threads more useful to the reader and more concise at greater benefit to the site generally. Having five "do a search" replies just clutters the site and does no one any good.
