  1. how do you know when the watch considers it 10 PM or 10 AM if the watch hasn't been worn for a few days...? better to just avoid making adjustments to day or date between those times at all? I also heard it is bad to do any adjustments when the chrono is running, is that true?
  2. I wonder where the good Chinese street markets and shops to get these, I was thinking of visiting China next year....maybe I'll just go completely off and get like 10 watches. With this much money being made hopefully some other places pop up that can provide good service with less markup.
  3. These prices start to add up, for a few of these you could have a nice Gen. Kind of disappointing because I just discovered the hobby.
  4. the gen bracelet does look much nicer in the underneath shots. The gen of this watch is better lume and the blue areas on gen bezel are anodized and have a more appealing hue, and like I mentioned the bottom of the bracelet appear much more precise.
  5. This is likely because it is a poor quality youtube video and the video itself is jerky. I wouldn't base anything on the video.
  6. Thanks for all the great replies, the design is so striking I couldn't resist it despite that I'm not into brands like LV. One thing that concerns me is that the dials are placed in different positions than the usual 7750 (i.e. 6, 9, 12) and I have heard it can affect reliability. Do you think the modifications that are made can impact long term reliability of the movement.
  7. This one caught my eye, curious to hear opinions on it. Usually I don't like the Louis Vutton brand but this is a pleasing design.
  8. I'm curious to know if anyone has bought or seen the Men Roadster Cartier replica. It is listed as "made with genuine watch as sample" which was also how the Tag Aquaracer super rep was described.
  9. Not sure where to get reps but if they made them I'd want some reps of the Oliver Peoples glasses. I have a pair and they are my favorite, they are so comfortable and great design. For optics I like the Maui Jim glasses that have some amazing clarity on their Polarized Plus series, obviously a rep could not reproduce the polarized lens quality. Oliver Peoples also makes some nice eyeglasses, maybe they could rep the frame since it is just stainless steel.
  10. The textured leather looks interesting, like a football almost. Still that's a lot for a rep item, for that much you could get a nice Tumi bag that has a lifetime warranty.
  11. Thanks for the tip, that works. I read the site at work on my lunch break and I was embarrassed that I saw the ads and left them on my screen. I contributed for the site and when I saw the ads I though oh shoot I can't read it anymore at work or I might have some embarrassing situation when my boss walks up or worse yet I'll trigger something that makes it appear I was browsing an adult site. I hope there are more creative ways to generate revenue like ads for watch sites maybe? Oh well, maybe that is for the best people were probably spending too much time browsing the site from work.
  12. Kenberg, you're from Australia which reminds me there used to be a great clothing company I bought stuff from here in DC called Country Road Australia. They closed their stores about 7 or 8 years ago here. I still have wool pants and sweaters from there, the quality was tremendous. Not super stylish but more classic style. I tried to get them to mail order ship stuff to me in USA but they said they don't do that... You have an awesome tailor in Australia who can produce great quality and design, but for me I think it's hard to replicate the fabric, design and assembly of the Zegna or other top quality clothing items. In terms of people buying no-name over brand name, I think that brand name is better in most cases because they have a reputation to uphold and if the quality is bad then this harms the brand. I'm not talking about tacky stuff where you actually see the label. I know some people actually wear clothing that shows off a label, I did this when i was a little kid, I thought it was cool to have a Tommy Hilfiger shirt on! But now that I've grown up if I wear something nice I want it to be for the design and quality not for some tacky logo or other garish advertisement. If it has a visible logo I will never wear it. As far as spending lots of money on a suit like a Zegna, Hugo Boss or Incotex pants...It depends on why you wear a suit or a quality piece of clothing. Some people who wear suits are stuck in a different era, they have to wear them for a job or they don't mind if clothing doesn't fit them just right. Average american is fat and doesn't care of the clothes is doesn't fit them. I'm a younger guy and I work in IT and don't have to wear a suit to work, I can show up in a t-shirt and jeans. So when I wear a suit it is for a special occasion or important meeting. Sometimes I'll also wear a suit with just a t-shirt or something non-formal when going out at night. I have jeans and sweaters that cost 100 or 200 dollars so it's not a big deal to spend some money to look nice at my sister's wedding or have a perfect fitting suit that I can use for years just having it dry-cleaned. I've gotten great clothing for cheap before (you can get great quality t-shirts and things at discount stores) but the best thing I've found to save on more complex clothing is to wait until the end of the season and you can get 50% off on Hugo Boss or Zegna. I had a few custom tailored suits made from English wool in Korea but they don't compare to the Hugo Boss stuff which isn't really that much more expensive when you look at how it holds up. Some luxury things are a waste of money but this is one thing where you can feel the difference like good shoes which are actually not a waste of money. A good pair of shoes are worth it too, because they are going to last longer and be nicer to wear. I bought some in Italy that I still use 10 years later. I'm not putting down people who don't want to waste money on expensive clothing...but like anything sometimes you get what you pay for.
  13. Is the reason the URL changed for Josh's site because of this trouble with hublot?
  14. At first my wife thought it was a little annoying because I'd be sitting at the computer all night looking at the watches. But when my little Chinese boxes starting coming in the mail and she saw how happy it made me she didn't mind anymore.
  15. There is a big difference between generic and designer clothes. Go buy a Hugo boss suit sometime and compare the quality. The top brands have better quality control, designers, materials, and factories. Gap is really a bargain bin label.
  16. One other thing I forgot to mention that omega1 pointed out was the bezel on the Gen is anodized, it does not appear to be on the rep.
  17. How about pictures of beautiful girls and watches, those are nicer to look at then some guns...I want some new pictures from sql_pl
  18. Switzerland and Canada all have guns and I never saw them cited in this debate. Those countries just don't have as much of the kinds of social issues (breakdown of family, no good male role models, poor parenting, poverty, lack of education) that some areas of USA does. Judging from the relatively low crime and violence in those countries I would say guns are not really the issue, it is other things that are causing the violence. I think unrestricted access to guns can be dangerous but I also think that a country where owning guns is allowed does not mean everyone is at heightened risk. It's also difficult to make generalizations about places even if it is backed up by statistics. Colombia with a noted history of violence was mentioned here. I traveled all throughout that country and never had any trouble, the people were very nice. Most of the people are super nice there, it is the FARC and narco terrorists who ruin it for the peaceful good folks. I don't recommend sporting a replica Rolex though in a country with that many poor people. That's a good place to break out the plastic Timex.
  19. Why do you have this pre-occupation with talking about USA like it is some crime infested hellhole? Americans are proud of our country, even with its failings. Have you ever been to USA? Did you feel afraid the whole time? Were you affected by crime? Did you feel in danger visiting our amazing parks in the west, the rocky mountains, shopping on fifth avenue, strolling the beautiful beaches of North Carolina, the clear warm water of Florida...the ski slopes of Colorado..seeing shows in Vegas. Before you are so quick to be condescending toward Americans let me remind you that you live in a country with a disintegrating culture and radical Islamist homegrown terrorist threat. You also have plenty of regular criminals too, my friend lived in London for a year and was robbed up by criminals there. He lived in DC and LA his whole life and never had any problem with crime. Why are so many native born British leaving UK to work and live abroad? Why is this Exodus taking place?
  20. Oh really? What is this then about a 11 year old boy shot to death recently. http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/europe/08/23...reut/index.html England has worst crime rate in world In the capital alone this year, 18 young people have been slain — 11 of them stabbed and seven shot. James Andre Smartt-Ford, 16, was at an ice rink when he was shot dead Feb. 3. Three days later, 15-year-old Michael Dosunmu was killed by gunmen who broke into his family home. Government figures released this month said the number of youths prosecuted for firearms offenses increased 20 percent over the past five years. Many people have erroneous assumptions based on what their media tells them to think...hey sorry the average American has it a lot better than you think.
  21. For me it would be Jaguar XK no question about it!
