Well as I do work in Marketing I think you could have a whole new career ahead of you .
Yet again you've done us proud, thanks for a genuinely interesting post
Well, now I've rationalised my collection - 11 to 5, all get worn in rotation.
The gen Speedmaster pretty much constantly!
PO as a beater
111 for going out in
183 for formal - with suits etc
JleC v rarely
G series had the ERAIPANERAIPAN engraving and the H series had the Cote de Geneve design. The Black Seal name was moved on the switch from G to H. I've got a 'hybrid' 183 with a G dial and H movement, just because I prefer the look of the CDG!
I've been in London through work and decided to visit Old Bond Street and the Burlington Arcade which have some superb second hand watch shops.
This one in the Burlington Arcade was a shop specialising in Vintage Rollies, there were dozens of them!!
Apologies for the quality these were take from my mobile...
The middle one on the top row has a California dial!
A few vintage Daytonas for you.
In another shop off Bond St there was a DRSD in the window!!!
The G series 111 has a 'sausage dial' and ERAIPANERAIPAN bridge engravings and the 111 H has CdG engraving and a sandwich dial. I've recently ordered the Swiss 111H from Josh and have a 183 G/H hybrid from PT (a G series dial and case and H series Swiss movement!) luckily the 183 has decent crown threads.
Hi,
Any strap experts out there?
I've got about £80-£100 to spend on some real good quality straps, 1 or more price dependent. Any suggestions? I like them not to have the 'painted' edges (not sure of the term) in other words you can see the edges of the leather. Is it worth going to someone like HKTan?
Thanks for the help.
Well someone on another topic said that Precious Time (UK based) will have some in soon. E-mail him via his website, he's always been spot on with comms. To be perfectly honest you don't need to put a gen hesalite on and the bezel insert on the rep although not identical is not the biggest 'tell', I wouldn't waste money on them. A genuine soild case back apparantly will fit the 'full size' rep and conversley the reps display back will fit the gen (according to a post in one of my recent Speedy Moon Watch posts.)
I love Speedies me...
Well the 111 doesn't come on a bracelet. The watch shown doesn't have a sandwich dial but the case back shows it as an H series which does. The ERAIPANERAIPAN engraving is G series and it doesn't have a swan neck.
However saying that there are probably only a handful of people in the UK that could spot that. If you like it, buy it and don't worry what others say.
I've bought a 111 from Josh myself ref: PN11104.
Hey Mark, thanks for all the work you've done for me in the past, it's been spot on and improved my watches no end.
Good idea to take things a bit easier, this is as you say a hobby!
Good to hear you're staying on the forum.
Cheers.
