  1. I love how the crown works on that beast! Great pickup!
  2. When I sent my B&R 03-92 it was about 3 months from the time that I shipped until I got it back. He did good work, but many emails went unanswered. I don't really think he liked working on the B&R reps so mine kept getting pushed to the back of the line.
  3. Awesome! You might as well put it together with the rep back and rep crown since you can easily swap those parts out later.
  4. Wow! That thing has it all. Agreed that a gen movement really makes it! I think that some of the rep movements look pretty damn good at some angles or with some photoshop effects, but the gen movement looks great even if you shot it with a polaroid.
  5. Great Explanation. I had and sold a 3rd Gen EL, and I assume it would have been a toploader.
  6. I saw those last night as well. The only thing I can really think would violate the rules would have been the caseback with warranty card. I guess if you had a gen movement in a rep 111 case you could possibly pass it off as a gen with those documents. However between the gen movement and the $500 caseback and card, you really wouldn't be making much money. Had it been a solid 090 caseback to go with our franken that is being sold on the forum, I would have scooped it up.
  7. Hello All, I've been seeing quite a few Fiddy's listed as top loading. It's my understanding that the gen fiddy's movement must be removed from the top because the case design will not let it be removed from the back. Do you think that the people who are listing their fiddy's as top loading are confirming that they can't remove the movement from the back or just stating that the movement can be removed from the front? Wouldn't all fiddy case designs allow the movement to be placed in from the top if the bezel and crystal are removed? I guess my question would be what's more important the case design assembled or the way the movement comes out of a less correct case, or is there a best of both worlds?
  8. I dunno if the pin is recessed on purpose. I do like that the hands are held on the pin by a the hexagon center of the hands. I think that was a unique touch. As far as lume, I thought my The Zigmeister lumed 127 was brighter, but I never had the two side by side. I feel this watch is well worth the money. Sure it's double the price of a rep fiddy, but I think the quality makes it worth the extra cost.
  9. Great watch! I bought one about 6 months ago off this board. Although I had to sell my EL fiddy to get it, I feel in the end it was worth it.
  10. I agree this really doesn't have any use unless people start walking around with the reader to scan the code. "Hey man nice watch. Would you mind if I scan your bubble code to make sure it's real?"
  11. Awesome pictures! The guy has great taste in watches. I wonder what other gens he owns?
  12. Shockey probably got him into them.
  13. You may want to hang around and do some research on this forum, before you go buy a gen fiddy. Find out what tells to look for, so you don't end up buying a fake. The rep fiddy can be very close to the real deal, especially if the rep has gen movement.
  14. I just bought a used gen of this the other day. Battery was DOA. I replaced it and this rep uses the same movement as the Gen!
  15. I remember the guy being kinda humorous. I never bought anything off of him, but then again EL was around and I stuck with him for all my purchases. I hope the rumors of him passing are untrue.
  16. Wow!!!!! Great work. Better than gen, because you made it yourself!
  17. I would think it would be possible, but unless you are doing the swap yourself I would bet that it would be cheaper to sell the watch you have now and buy the one that you want. Chances are the AD will tell you they need to send it to the service center and do a full service while changing the dial. That's pretty much my experience with taking anything at all to an AD.
  18. I work with a buying group of Electronics dealers. Many times, the profit on selling a monster cable with a tv is greater than the profit on the tv. Companies will give you the TV at cost if your willing to buy a cable and an extended warranty.
  19. Just a shot in the dark, but is the surface textured? You may want to look for a bracelet or strap that is smoother surface.
  20. Lol The funny thing is that many modded reps sold on this board will trade for higher value than a used quartz Tag. A top end quartz Link or f-1 chrono had be had for under $400 used, non-chrono models and SEL models can be had for $200 or under, compared to frankens that sell here for upwards $2k.
