The 3035/55/75 came first (around 1977) and were high grade chronometer movements from day one.  The cal 3000 is a cheapo rendition of a 3035 with a flat hairspring and no date but when they were used in the explorer they ran them through the COSC test.

Imho they were trying to move up$cale (28.8k/sapphire) by going downscale (stripped down cheapo movement).

For anyone who has not read the 14270 Explorer Exposure:

They are between $300-$500 on the average.

But back to your application with the cal. 3000. My assumption was that 3035/3055/3075 were based on the 3000. If that’s the case, are we even sure a ref 162xx case can house your movement?

I have bought a few for around 300ish with caseback and midcase around 5 years ago. Only ones I have seen recently seem to go for closer to 500-600 now.

Thanks guys.  I now have an idea what to offer should one come up.  The reason I was looking for that was because I tried searching online and it seems that the 14270 shared the same case as the 162xx.  I'm not sure though if this was always the case.

  2. Hi,  Sorry to revive an old thread but I'm curious about this case.  Does anyone know where I could get one?  I have a Gen 14270 ( dial, hands, crown and movement )  but no case to put it n.  I currently have it in a Alpha explorer case but the dial and movement do not fit correctly.  I saw one on ebay with riyi for an eta2836, is that the same case being referred to?  Hopefully someone can help me.  Thank you in advance.

  3. Hi Everyone,

My name is Basti and I'm new here. I posted this on another forum but got zilch.  Hope trying here will be more helpfull. I have a question that hopefully some can help me with. I am interested in putting a Gen rolex explorer movement (rf3000)/hands/dial in a tudor jumbo case 38mm. Anyone see any problems i might encounter. Size wise everything seems to be ok. This is not to resell, I'm just a fan of the 14270 explorer but find 36mm too small. 38mm is the perfect size for me and the newer 39mm explorer case doesn't do it for me. Also anyone know whats a good crystal (non cyclops) to get for a 38mm tudor case? I know it sounds like a crazy thing to do but Its for me and something i know ill be happy looking at everyday.  if worse comes to worse I can always flip the 38mm case for a 36mm.  Please forgive me if i placed this in the wrong area and thanks in advance.
