  1. rrai1 .. thanks for that link .. that watch is in terrific shape .. and the lume is rather light cream, and not very yellow .. i think just wearing the watch alot will do quite a bit towards the look -- i managed to scratch the bezel insert and take a small chip out of the crystal when i banged it against the collection box underneath the poker table at the casino tonight..
  2. I'm really liking the red 1680 from Andrew.. Even though it has a large crown and other flaws.. The biggest flaw though is that it's supposed to be a 40+ year old watch.. At it looks like it just stepped off the factory line... So I'm wondering what is everyones favorite method for making their watch more vintage.. The bracelet and crystal will show wear soon, just because I'm always running my watch into furniture.. But what about the dial.. And the hands?
  3. I'm a heartbeat away from ordering this watch too.. Even though I just received a 1680 today from Andrew
  4. well .. i'll be .. -- i just learned something new.
  5. I'm going to guess that Cape Cod Metal Polishing Cloth would hasten the vintage look -- which may not be a bad idea .. -- (so hard to read sarcasm on the net.. )
  6. Got a new red 1680 from Andrew at lunch time, already put 3 scratches across the plexi crystal. .. at this rate it will really look vintage in just a month or so... (right handed + right wrist watch wearer = lots of scratches i guess)
  7. Brand spanking new 1680 that just arrived from Andrew
  8. I stopped in at my local AD, and tried on the yellow seawolf .. -- now i know that i'll be ordering this watch next. - its pretty nice.
  9. I agree with the last poster.. there are some buyers that forget they are buying counterfeit goods
  10. this is definitely on my hit-list ..
  11. The current 441 (from panerai's site) has it struting a P9001 movement.
  12. The images on the panarai website say CERAMICA http://www.panerai.com/en/watch-collection/contemporary-collection/luminor-1950/66-luminor-1950-3-days-gmt-automatic-ceramica-pam00441 so the rep on PT's site appears correct
  13. PAM 089 -- great looking PAM GMT
  14. works fine for me. -- use one of the many proxies on the web .. probably will work for you too
  15. not a very balanced article, but what do you expect? .. forbes to write an article saying -- yeah, a rep is a good inverstment.. lets take a look at it from an investment point of view .. -- spend $300 getting a sub from a TD, or $8000 buying the same sub at a rolex AD -- what would be a better investment? -- 10 years down the road .. with proper maintenance the rep sub will probably still be working.. but even if it died lets say 2x -- and you replaced it, you still would have spent only about $1000 or less .. -- the value of a $8000 sub today in 10 years, is probably less that $8000 .. (they are not that rare). $7000 invested today in a nice index fund is probably going to be worth north of $10,000 in 10 years.. (being genenerous, the value is likely higher). .. so hmm .. i'll take the rep that works as well as the gen, pocket the extra $3k and buy more reps with that money too. - at this point i only own reps, i am 38 have enough money to buy gens if i wanted to, but i just dont see a way to justify the expense given that i am concentrating on building up wealth rather than spending it. -- my net worth appreciates that. -- maybe that is the waht luxury brands are afraid of, people with means loosing interest in spending their money on luxury goods.
  16. The Pam 89 today. My favorite watch in my collection
  17. really great looking watch -- going to have to put this on the wish list
  18. maybe if i keep the purchases to a new watched every few months .. this is a beauty!
  19. wow -- i love the way this watch looks .. how many PAM's can one justify .. already have a 111, 087, and a 061 .. (the 61 is totally busted though atm) ..
  20. Mike -- thats a PAM089 you have there. -- nice little watch.
