  1. I own this dial so im not sure what the value of this is worth in its current state....

Nice dial. hmmm, its a tough call regarding its value in its current state. The dial is certainly tough to get but since a genuine 250/236 watch can be had for 5-5.5K USD,

I would guess that a perfect dial with hands would fetch around 800-1K USD. So one that's not perfect without hands - perhaps in the $300-400 range.

  2. Guys,

I need the Fiddy experts to chime in here.

I've seen lots of postings regarding the El Fiddy and it appears to be the standard. However, I've seen Angus's Ultimate Fiddy and they look just as impressive.

But since there is a much higher premium place on the EL Fiddy.

I'm wondering if there is any real difference other than the top movement install on the EL Fiddy's ?

If someone wanted to build a franken - is the El Fiddy more compatible with Gen parts?

    thanks.

  3. Also, that CG and crown are to 'die for' :)

    cheers,

    babola

Thanks, It actually going to get better.

The CG in the pic is a Gen CG from my gen 240 caseset. I only mounted it for the pic (with one screw that I didn't even tighten).

I'm taking delivery in a few day on a Gen TI CG that correct for this model so it should look even a tab better.

  4. Just a "Thank you" to the members who upgraded to "Supporter" .. we need more of you to step it up !!

I firmly believe that it is not a matter of Apathy, or thinking .. "I don't need to donate" .. just to reaffirm, the funds collected through donations supplements the "Monthly Usage" that is pretty huge on this forum .. absolutely no funds are for private use.

I have asked permission of the member (to post this, but decided to leave it up to him if he wants to post an acknowledgement of his upgrade) ... Long story short.. we have a "New Supporter" .. and several others who did so not for anything but to "Share" the load with the rest of us. and for this I (as a fellow member) thank all of you..

and to the member that in a way prompted this thread .. here is your DW going out tomorrow .. and also as communicated, I will send along a genuine Croc Strap for Panerai .. from TC Straps.. brand new.. never worn .. only by the reptile that donated the hide.. B) As a Thank you

Seriously.. This is Home a lot of the day and night to hundreds .. thousands of watch enthusiasts., but only a handful "understand" what it takes to keep this forum running, I believe that the more members that "understand" what we need to do.. well, I just hope you all get the message.. as for me,.. I'm just a member .. rank and file .. no better than any other member .. and I feel that by "understanding" .. from one member to another .. what all of us need to do.. we can keep moving forward..

    Aloha~Cheers

First, I'd like to extend my gratitude to the many people that I've had a chance to deal with here. And there are many of you. I've been lurking here for quite a long time and it was about time that I stepped up to the plate and became a supporter. Actually I am quite embarrassed that its taken me this long but I guess it better later than never.

For those thinking about becoming supporter, don't wait as long as I did.

    Cheers.

  5. Congrats on the case. Given that it has a strap changing system you are obviously working with a J or later so it would have to be a 240 or perhaps the 296 Special Edition (but that is on a bracelet). I thought the 89 was discontinued with the G series and so it wouldn't have that particular system - but I could be wrong on that and someone can correct me. On the manual side I know they still make the 177 and 176 but I don't know if they updated the strap changing system. I wouldn't normally bring up the hand winds as they require milling the case but crystals with proper magnification can be hard to come by and I would probably go that way without an automatic crystal. These cases do occasionally come up in the second-hand market as the strap system tends to break and owners sell the original. But spring bars solve that.

I would hang on to it until that dream project or gen dial comes along. The one benefit of the strap changing system is that there may well be future ti watches that you like better than what is out there now. And you never know when that gen dial comes along which makes that case the icing on top of a wonderful cake. :)

Great points K-. I think I'm going to stick to Autos as I'd prefer not to enter any project that requires case modification. And I'm in no rush to build this one up.

In the end I'm more concerned with building a PAM with the best parts. I am a sucker for a GMT so I am definitely leaning towards that.
