  1. Thought you might find this interesting - a brief comparison of dials. And no, I do not want this showing up on a gen forum. What I have learned from this exercise is that depending on the angle and lighting each dial can look very different and more or less similar to one another. And no cracks about the photography. The Gen: In case you are wondering what a sandwich dial looks like on a $25,000 watch: The Comparisons to a Davidsen dial: And finally a couple of group shots including the two dials plus one of the old school EL 4rth generations: It's all in the number tails and funky cut-outs boys. But our reps are damn good. This dial will be off to the Master for a relume shortly.
  2. Another 18 month odyssey and this one is basically done. Mods include old school 17j Swiss movement with ETA datewheels (in spite of the pictures they do line up ) and fabulous relume compliments of Master Ziggy and a crowning touch - real wood insert from the elusive RepAustria. Outdoors: Indoors:
  3. A big Happy B-day to you TT. Just remember - you're not getting older, your getting better. At least that is what I keep telling myself.
  4. You do need better pictures but I would guess yes. The one on the left looks familiar but is missing gaskets. The one in the middle has the same hexagonal threaded stem insert and unless RXW used the same stem insert I have never seen that on a rep. I can't see the one on the right. In any case the middle and right would have to be second or third generation crowns.
  5. I hope we get a good Skyland and Heritage Chrono. The BCE is a beautiful watch but that rounded crown drives me nuts. And yes, I have had nothing but excellent experience with King as well.
  6. I prefer online. And also prefer to buy second hand. In the second hand market I am also happy to buy without papers if there is significant savings. But I also always buy with serial numbers. With the discount for no papers I use a portion of the savings to send the watch back the Company for service. You end up saving a lot of money, having a newly warrantied watch from the service center and even have a factory receipt attesting to its authenticity. And as someone else said, the best part is you can sell it at a similar or better price whenever you are bored of it.
  7. I would guess they are coming from an authorized repairman who is selling dials that have been replaced. It just means you have to look at them carefully before buying if that is the case. Thanks for posting this.
  8. Sssurfer is right that a watchman cyclops and Lello combo works very well on a 63. I don't have a lot of pics but here is the best I could find of the combination: And with a little bit of luck I should be able to show you the comparison of that combo and a gen crystal in a week or so. And no I did not buy the gen.
  9. I don't need to look at a picture to tell you that there were two versions of both this and the silver-dialed special edition. Folks who own them say the second version is far superior.
  10. I have a bridge to sell you. It spans Brooklyn to Manhattan.
  11. The pictures on the listing are gen. Now you have to decide whether the pictures are of what is being sold.
  12. If any of the engineers/ designers who have so generously posted in this loop have actual experience converting either a scan of an actual case part or more general drawings into CNC usable plans please shoot me a PM whenever you have a chance. I am working with another member on a small CNC project and before we invest real money into it I had a couple of quick questions. Thanks in advance. -Kruz
  13. T- Very pretty watch. Looking forward to seeing the final version. Are you going to offer it with any decorated movement options? And yes I am still lusting for that LaCroix. -Kruz
  14. What makes us so sure that the girlfriend is a girl?
  15. The top of my list is that Chopard Chrono GT XXL or whatever it is called in silver. I saw one at an AD and loved it.
  16. Why would you buy this one now with a seconds at 12 version coming out. You know they will make an EOD as it has proven to be very popular even with the wrong functionality. It is a beautiful watch but at this point I would be inclined to wait.
  17. Of course the double benefit of a Swiss movement are the ETA standard datewheels and proper alignment. I have always wondered whether the 2007 gen has a lumed inner bezel. That is the only other one that comes to mind if it is the case.
  18. Thanks for the info. It is interesting that both this one and the Vegas have movements that are so well done. I once was sitting across from a guy with his $16k gold vegas while wearing the SS rep. Thanks god he knew I collected all kind of watches. When we compared the roulette wheel mechanism we both concluded that the rep mechanism was better than the gen. Then again is was beautiful Rose Gold. Pardon my ignorance but what size are they? Same as the Conquistador? I walk by the Muller window quite often and I really like their bigger pieces. For my taste the Conquistador is border line on size and the Vegas never gets any wrist time as it is too small for me.
  19. That plate on the back is wild. I guess you would need it to set the movement in the right position. It is pretty amazing that they have repped this movement functionally accurate. Out of curiousity, do all gen crazy hours have the same hour pattern around the dial?
  20. Definitely a fantasy. If it makes you feel any better AP does (did?) makes some Royal Oaks (not Offshore's as far as I know) with quartz movements.
  21. Beautiful watch. Wear it well. I will second the Lello datewheel With a franken of this high quality it is a must.
  22. Pick Your Poison: Version 1: Honpo 187 - Best case, crystal, dial, proper engraved he valve but worst movement - first generation A7750. It is no longer sold by dealer. Has to be bought in secondhand market and may be difficult to find. Version 2: 7750 187 - Inferior to above but has newer and more reliable A7750. Readily available from most dealers. Version 3: 7753 187 - Proper movement so working quickset date button. Case is based off of version 2 but IMHO not as good. I know King sells this one. I don't know about anyone else.
  23. Well that style seems to have netted the two owners (including our own RWG member) $175-200 million. I guess we all should be copying it.
  24. Looks really good. Enjoy it. It is one of my favorite PAM's as well. Nice combination of a "rolex bezel" and PAM styling.
