  1. NOt our model. Thanks for the tip on the article.
  2. I have always known about stem adapters but have wondered if they cause the crown to sit too far away from the case.
  3. Very nice collection. My initial foray into reps was for the purpose of trying out very different watches that I would not have the nerve to buy as gen with the risk of not liking them later and facing resale.
  4. Looks great. Very elegant watch.
  5. They certainly can do it. Ask them if they will.
  6. Got mine today. Really feels substantial on the wrist. IMHO, relume and AR and this is top of the line.
  7. 253. Has correct caseback markings. Blue second hand also breaks it up. I like the 2893 PR and GMT with textured dials. And yes I know the textured is not as deep as the gen. But how many flat black dials can you have.
  8. If you go the movement swap route and the hands don't fit you can always pick up a set of gen hands (tritium or lume). But then you have to budget another $220 to the project. Buy the 2893 version.
  9. Received mine today. It is truly a high end rep. Feels very substantive. I do feel an AR coat will give it that final zing though. I just had to stop by Wempe and take a gander at the gen after receiving mine.
  10. A springbar in the fixed lug vintage. I will be very curious since many have been sold to date and no one has mentioned it. I don't own one but was wondering if the lugs could be moved if you removed the caseback. Otherwise, slit the strap and apply velcro. Actually, I am not so sure I am kidding.
  11. Oops. My bad. Iget the PR's mixed up with GMT's. This one is lumed to L color. And it is the color before C-3 became the standard.
  12. Strap looks great. I still like the dial. How many black PAM's can you have. This was my first original movement PAM bought from Honpo representative at the time. Still in the process of modifiying it to 95%. -To date it has been relumed to tritium color and Watchmen cyclops added. When Finepics datewheel and Palp crown are added I will be finished and it will be as close as can be.
  13. V- Great find. I come out where a number of others do. Important upgrade at an affordable price. If you are obsessed with perfection you pay more for Palp 2.0 which should be forthcoming. In truth between 2.1 Palp and this one I would choose Homer's in terms of closer to gen (irrespective of price). With the upcoming 2.0's from Palp, us lucky members will now have a number of choices. People can choose whether they want to get as close to gen as possible and pay up for "more teeth" on the 2.0 , buy Palp 2.1 for that "fat" look or purchase Homer's which look very good and are at a very good price. Needless to say, I certainly hope anyone who had ordered from Palp and has yet to pay will live up to their order.
  14. I didn't know any version of Sub, Comex or not, comes with he valve.
  15. Beautiful watch but for that price there are other watches that come to mind first.
  16. Interesting. I don't remember seeing a Comex Sub from WM.
  17. I believe King has them for one. I do see that Andrew and Josh do not have them any longer. Perhaps they are getting rare.
  18. I think I would sell the 2836 and buy a new 2893 - 63 or do nothing at all. They seem to have come down in price. One of the benefits of buying a 2893 already made is the rep makers seem to have made some effort to duplicate the movement decoration with the only real flaw being a missing "i" in Officine. The 2836 with GMT hand adds a separate hand which moves in concert with the hour hand. But you have to set the gmt right in the first place. The 2893 actually sets in 1 hour increments exactly in sync with the hour hand as a dedicated GMT movement should. I have heard a couple of folks complain that you can't reset the GMT hand on the 2893's in 1/2 hour increments. Someone here said that makes one timezone impossible to replicate. If that is true there are quite a few gen GMT's watches which won't do that either (including the gen 63). Beyond the decorated original movement most 2893 63's come individually numbered and with a good quality metal movement spacer. IMHO, if you do not want to replace what you have, I would stick with it as is and not bother with the transplant. By the time you factor in the movement and the installation you are adding another $300 or so. If you can sell what you have for $200 (??) you can buy a 2893 for $400-500
  19. I am with V. What's a Rolex? There really is nothing to do until you receive further correspondence.
  20. Just looking back at the post and they look fantastic. A DW, a couple of MBW's and a matching set of original movement Daytonas and you have conquered the Rolex world. I may have to give in over the next year or two. Those Daytonas are just too pretty.
  21. I do understand Narikaa's point of view. Mine is a little diferent and has more to do with my interest in reps and enjoyment finding the best version and making them as good as they can be. I have a number of relatvely rare reps that I will never wear but am proud to own. Kind of like stamp collecting. And I suspect there are a fair number of folks here of that ilk. In truth I am at an age and have a good enough job that no one would ever doubt what was on my wrist (other than the Sky Moon - although no one knows what it is) and so I simply wear whatever (rep or gen) for my own private enjoyment. My comment on the Sky Moon simply reflected the fact that wearing a watch like that (IMHO) screams I am rich (and if you are knowledgeable) how dumb I am trying to convince you how rich I am. That is probably not a fair way to think but that is how I do. Robertk- Too funny.
