Concepta warned everyone that franken portu's would be heavily delayed as his watch smith is backed up. By the way, what is the "35"? i have never owned a Portu other than a cheap rep years ago so I am not familiar with them,

Very nice write-up. I didn't know the gen is so tall.

I loved the concept but have to agree the head to bracelet ratio makes it wear funny on my wrist. I am glad I had the chance to try the rep first. Although I never owned the gen I have had the opportunity to try it on several times and concluded the same thing on gen. But make no mistake, the gen oozes a whole other level of precision, fit and finish. if they ever adjust the bracelet I would give serious thought to saving up for one.

Give it time and you will be storing your watches in multiple 8 watch flat boxes. Your significant other doesn't notice as quickly.

Finally settled on a long term strap. Went with the AP Bands rubberized croc and their buckle. The buckle is so much more comfortable than the deployant as I prefer the long straps on my wrist. Still need to do some fitting of the strap endlinks but you get the picture.

Simply put this is one of the worst second at 12 reps. WHy would they come with this one so late and so wrong. Nothing is right - not dial, not pushers, etc. The gens I have seen also came with the old style case but there may have been a subsequent version.

That is good 4 to have as a collection. Wear them well.

You can buy them as movement alone or in watches. There was a batch of new ones for $400 or so but many of them are missing a couple of critical parts - hour wheel and canon pinion. I have also bought complete watches (Tag Heuer and Concord) for anywhere from $500-1000. if buying a watch make sure to check as it has been recently serviced and check on the chrono functions. Although my watch smith can service the DD module even AP simply replaces them when they go bad.

Storm- I understand your concern. I was wondering the same thing but loved the strap and his quality and pricing is excellent. I did put on some conditioner after these pics which slightly darkened the skin but will hopefully help. It is my first light colored JV so we will have to see. I have a couple of darker JV's on other watches and they have held up well. I just couldn't resist.

I would suggest a smaller watch repair shop which services gens. if I am reading correctly below you have a gen and I have generally gotten better prices from smaller shops. When I asked at Tourneau more than a year ago they quoted me $1200.

Go for it. What is the point of owning it if you are not going to wear it. I wear all watches everywhere with the exception of watches that don't fit under my shirt sleeve and delicate watches for menial labor (read as gardening).
