  1. So, for the raffles case there is no aftermarket possibilities?
I think I'll cut it and solder it again until reach the minimum possible. Since the 1601 caseback exists also rounded, I'll sand it down. In a real 1601 the case has a sort of stair that can accept the caseback. This doesn't exist in the raffles case.

  2. Hello,

I'm doing a fun franken project, it is based on a 1601 Rolex GEN dial. I've already done a franken 16014 Datejust with the Raffles 2836 case.
I checked by build and notice that the caseback has a lot of clearance to the movement rotor. Since the Datejust 1601 is really thin I'd like to change the caseback or modify it to be more flat.

Have you ever done something like this?

    Thank you

  3. Hello everyone,

I got a 1601 dial in bad shape for few bucks, only 10$. I'm still waiting to be shipped since USPS has some problem in this period. So, my idea is to build a 1061 on budget, having the best result spending not too much.

Since I love the idea of having a "worn" Datejust, I'm planning to age the hands and ruin a bit the case.

The main problem is the case, where I can find one? My budget is 50-60$ for the case, so I was thinking of using the Raffles case for 2836, replace the crystal with the 25-135 acrylic, drill the holes and try to reshape the bezel (the bezel from Raffles is too tall). Do you have other solutions? Is a good idea?

I've already made a 16200 franken using a Raffles case for 2836 and a gen dial, I have all necessary tools for this type of project.

    Thanks!

Rolex's "gents" watches are pretty plain-Jane, so it's all in the details & dimensions. It is impossible to make any judgements without knowing which model you want to assemble &/or without measuring that case to see if it matches the gen. What I can say is the case looks pretty beaten & the crystal looks a bit too tall. Once you know which model you are building, why not just buy a gen case? There are plenty of them floating around & they can often be had for reasonable prices in similar condition to the 1 in your pics. That way, you know gen parts will fit without much fiddling &, in the future, you have the option of swapping any rep parts for gens to end up with a total gen.

I have a 1601 dial that is in poor condition, I was planning to build a fun project with a low budget. I’m trying to find a cheap case

  5. Hello everyone,

I'd like to put an acrylic glass on the DJ 16200 case from Rafflesdials. It comes with a saphire glass that is 2mm thick and has a lower diameter of 29.5mm and the upper one 30.5mm. I found the 25-135 acrylic glass from Clarks, it is compatible?

    Thanks
