  1. Sounds like a plan. May I suggest Summer in Atlantic City, NJ. Sun, surf, gaming, watches, shopping, watches, gaming, drinking, eating, watches, ........
  2. Rolli IS THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!! Need an Uncle Rolli?
  3. Yep, and as Vly said ...... it wasn't the quantity but the quality. And I'll agree, but I mean the people more than the watches.
  4. Funny, I just said that today over dinner with some friend.
  5. I just want to thank JoJo35, vlydog, 82KUBA, and USWatchDude for coming out on this rainy day to share with me. Special thanks to JoJo and US's better halves for putting up with our constant watch babble. I truly enjoyed meeting you all and hope you had an enjoyable time. Hope the food was to your liking as was the wine (thanks Vly). Kruzer00, you really missed out, you'd better make it next time. And to all who didn't show....you missed out on great food, drink, conversation, watches, and most importantly..PEOPLE. I'm a better person for meeting you all. Thanks again from the Uncle no one likes to talk about. Now introduce yourselves by posting captions to my pics.
  6. Rolli has got PVD down to a science, and now seems to be working on a Pre-V box set. t is working on crowns, and I have info on a few other "Special Ops" going on in the shadows. I have a few Pre-V buckles which I will be using to cast buckles, but they will be sew in buckles. I think we will have some great watches by the end of the year, let's see what happens.
  7. Just goes to prove what I've been saying. These "trusted" dealers are getting comfortable with their popularity. DSN and Josh have been praised on the boards so I chose them when buying my first reps here. After reading all their praises, I was confident I would get quality watches. Here's what I got....... Bought 5 Pre-Vs from DSN, of which only 1 was usable. Problems ranged from having non-Pre-V style cases, stuck levers, ARC, loose movements, stripped screws, and more. Here's one I couldn't open the lever and has a loose movement (note the gap between the crystal and dial) it also has the single screw Vendome case with small crown guard. BTW, the use of tubes is impossible because the screws are too thick. Here's a vintage GMT from Josh. The date wheel is not centered and the markers are too shiny.
  8. The original "Gold Logo" was not solid gold but rather gold plated. The plating was done by Vacor AG, the same company who did their Pre-V PVD work. I had thought to make it solid gold, but it seems too costly. I could always start with a 140 case and mod it to fit the Logo movement/dial. Maybe a custom "Logo" dial to fit an auto movement would be best? Below you'll find a link to Vacor, they do great work, check them out. VACOR AG
  9. Ken, I have to say these guys are great. They find a way to toe the line without crossing it. They find a way to use humor and art to lighten the mood. Hell, sql_pl's work is museum quality IMHO! Very nice work all!
  10. Your avi is a classic, I'll guess a European jeans add maybe?
  11. True art, I can see you with your own exhibit soon.
  12. Today I embarrassed myself when I asked a member where he found his avi. I guessed he had cropped a starlets internet pic and asked him to say which star it was ..... it ended up being his GF. I've seen some great avis including (but not limited to) ajosmith, sql_pl, FxrAndy, alt.watch.obsessive, Jawo, and HikeUSA's sig pic is just nuts, did you PS that PAM onto her wrist? Nice work guys, eye candy other than watches.
  13. Sly gifted Arnie a VERY special 5218-201/A during the opening of the Berlin Planet Hollywood in 1996. What's so special you ask, it was gold?! Yep, a gold Logo ..... how cool would that be? I for one would want a few. How difficult would this be? I'm working on Pre-V sew-in buckles molded/cast from an original, so that's done. Dials and hands would be (dare I say) DSN 201/As, and movements aren't a problem. I was thinking the case could come from the same dealer who made the 18K Franck Muller cases. So, would this be possible or am I just dreaming?
  14. Boy am I ever embarrassed. Well, great camera work, did she also set up the pics?
  15. I've been in a situation with DSN lately and I can't seem to figure out. Ordered 5 Pre-V pieces that were unusable (except for one) and had to return them. I've been waiting for my replacements for a while now. I finally get an email saying that my replacements will ready next week (this past week) and that he'll shoot me some pics prior to shipping. Two days later he asks me when I'll be shipping back the watches, as if he forgot I already shipped them. I don't know if it's a lack of communication or organization, but I would hold off on buying from him for now. DSN currently has several issues with members and models, including one with the 104 I believe, which is the base for the 240. Good luck if you do buy and remember to post your thoughts on the watch when it arrives.
  16. Evil, evil Gnomes. They'll be the end to any collection. BTW, I asked about your avi in another post and don't know if you answered. I figure you cropped a pic of a starlet, but can't figure who it is. So, who is it?
  17. Philippe Boney is a great guy. We spent much time in Geneva, lunches, and dinners. My time hangin' with both he and Angelo Bonati were fantastic. BTW, Philippe was president of Piaget before Panerai.
  18. I've been following the 232 and 249 closely, watching to see which I will finally decide on. I'm almost 100% set on the 249, and I'll tell ya why. I've wanted a PAM0021 from day one as all collectors have. The 232 is the closest Panerai has ever come (and probably ever will) to re-producing a 21. I had thought that an OOR version of the 21 would possibly someday be available, but it will not. So my logical choice IS the 232. When Panerai released the 232 and 249, collectors were blinded by the Cali dial and forgot the similarities between the 232 and the Holy Grail 21. 249's are selling for way over retail and barely a 232 can be found on the market. Seems like dealers are holding onto the 232s knowing they will soon out-price the 249 Cali. Now, I'm no expert, but I think the 232 will be THE one to have in the future. Maybe it's just my obsession with the beauty and true historic feel and look of the watch, but I LOVE IT! Which would you get? The PAM0232 Vs The PAM0021 Vs The PAM0249 "Cali"
  19. Looking good Pete, keep up the good work! Now I can only hope to get my watches back from DSN soon.
  20. Please note the new time of 2PM
  21. I hope to see a lot of you there. GTG INFO
