  1. Hi, guys! I went to an AD the other day and tried on a Bentley GMT, and much to my surprise and delight it fit my puny 6.5" wrist pretty well. So I hurried home and began to study the dealers pix of same watch, I love the maroon dial, it's stunning. But in comparing the rep to the genuine I noticed that the white inner bezel is too wide, rendering the maroon dial a bit small. I dunno, am I being too fussy?
  2. Avitt, thanks much for your reply. I will try your method, hope it works for me. Now I have to get some thin springbars, it never ends, does it.
  3. Hi, everyone - hope you are having a very nice weekend. Some time ago I acquired a superb DW 6263 but it came with weird, sloppy end links. Apparently the factory ran out of the correct 571 end links and instead trimmed down generic 20mm end links and installed them Anyway, it took David 3 months to send me the lovely correct 19mm end links with 571 stamping, but I finally got 'em. So now I'm tring to remove the original end links and install the new ones. I've never done this before, I pushed a pin tool into the lug hole that's drilled all the way through the lugs and I can feel the spring bar compress, but the end link is not budging out of position no matter which hole I try. I don't want to screw up or scratch the case, so I'm being cautious. Is there some trick to this? Any advice would be most appreciated, thank you!
  4. That's amazing - I'm kind of [censored] at this - I ordered the same watch from Maria 1 year ago and it came with one of the worst dials I've ever seen. It was purplish and dull, just awful. I could not believe Maria would send this out. I had to send it to Joe to replace the dial with a much nicer one.
  5. You have great taste and the watches seem very well cared for
  6. I know this is a weird question but, do the lugs curve down smartly as in the genuine? The reason I ask is because I tried one on at an AD this week and I could not believe how well the 44.8 mm case fit my skinny wrist, all because the lugs curve down sharply. I really didn't think I could wear one. Thanks!
  7. If a rep is OK, I would recommend a small or mid-size rolesium Yachtmaster, sporty yet a bit fancy with all the sparkly silver effect going on. Classy, timeless luxurious design.,
  8. looking very very nice, Joe. You & family have a great time, get that that PO soaked.
  9. Nice watch but it should not have the modern brushed/shiny link bracelet.
  10. We vacationed in London end of March and one of the most interesting things we did was to take the ferry down the Thames to Greenwich, about a 4.5 mile ride. You get to see London from a different perspective and I was amazed at the interesting modern architecture along the river banks. Then we went to the Museum of Space & Time at the Greenwich observatory, atop a hill with a nice view of London. The Museum is very cool and relevant to WISs. It houses a collection of eary clocks, pocket and wristwatches including John Harrison's first clock that revolutionized global timekeeping. We spent over 2 hours there looking at everything. Very highly recommended.
  11. I mentioned health issues because because in the past that has been brought up in the forum as a possible reason why she is not responding to PMs and e-mails. I have no idea what her current status is, all I know is that this deal has gone on way too long. Also, I know she won't screw me, that's not the point. From my experience here, she certainly has issues replying to customers in a timely manner. After my first e-mail to her regards this watch, I had to wait over 1 1/2 weeks for some form of response from her, and even then I had to initiate a response from her. That is not the way to treat a customer, it is pretty bad service, I think. I'm thinking of walking away from this deal, but in the end, I'm the one who would lose out by not getting the watch after all this totally unnecessary irritation.
  12. Well, this is why it took 3 weeks. I initially mailed her about an AP RO in her catalogue, I asked her the usual questions - case size and thickness, I knew what movement it has, and of course price. She gets back to me the next day saying that the the photos are old, there is an updated version of this watch and she will send me photos. OK, great, I am intrigued. So I wait. And then I wait some more, nothing. By now well over a week goes by and nothing. So I contact her again, nicely reminding her, asking for pix, again nothing. By now it's going on 2 weeks and I'm about ready to walk away from this deal. So she finally gets back to me (2.5 weeks later) saying she had to leave her home and go away somewhere, the watch in question arrived at her home and her friend is willing to send it to me, of course, the promised photos will never happen now. So finally I think, I will just take my chances and get the darn watch, I am really tired of this. So I tell her OK I'll take it, give me your PayPal info, this was 2 days ago, no reply yet. I know about her health problems and that this is just a sideline for her, but come on, 3 weeks?
  13. Hmm, on secnd thought that's a stupid request, isn't it? I could be sending PayPal funds to someone's personal account. See, she is making me crazy.
  14. I'm about ready to buy a watch from King and I've been waiting for her reply with her PayPal info for over 2 days now. I just can't take it anymore, this whole process has taken over 3 weeks, all I want now is the damn watch already. Sorry for the tone of my post but she is making me crazy. Thanks very much!
  15. Just incredible, Randy. Good for you!
  16. I believe the photo you referenced is cwai's and it is a genuine rubber strap. The rubber strap that Andrew provided when I bought my 4th gen PO from came with these weird spacer pins sticking out from the middle of the strap ends. Apparently they are supposed to fit into holes drilled into the side of the watch case. My PO did not have these holes and the strap fit terribly with these spacer pins pushing against hte sides of the watch case. I ended up selling the PO to a friend who prefers steel strap. I've talked to a few dealers regarding why there isn't a 4th gen PO with properly fitting rubber strap yet and the answers have been vague and noncommittal. I bet your GMT doesn't have these holes drilled into the sides of the case either, so beware.
  17. If he stopped selling watches in late 2004 or 2005, how come he has the bad 2006 AP RO Jumbo offered in his photo album?
  18. Robbie, to get back to your question regarding which part of the bezel should be brushed - I believe it is the face or top of the bezel. May I ask, from which dealer did you get your Royal Oak?
  19. Audi A8 W12 Quattro with every possible option, 0-60 in 5 seconds I like cars that are big, safe, fast and not flashy. Oh, and part of the dream is a heated, enclosed parking space right acroos the street from where I live, right now I park my poor little Scion xA on VERY crowded streets in my 'hood.
  20. From reading your post ( you are a very good writer BTW) I can relate to your state of mind about this experience. A simple "I'm sorry about this" would have helped a lot, I would be pretty anxious and irritated if I had to wait 4 months also. You start to wonder what is going on with your watch. On top of that, asking for extra money to return your watch after you've patiently waited a long time is pretty bold. I hope it all works out for you.
  21. Does anyone know what's going on over at Watch Trader? I can't log on, site is suspended? Thanks much
  22. Yeah but aren't the genuine rubber straps about $150?
  23. I read this on Timezone forum today - from an Omega press release, the official James Bond watch featured in the upcoming movie will be the swirly dial 007 Omega Seamaster, which I think is clumsy and over-designed. Too bad, the PO on black rubber strap is a beautiful watch.
  24. Andrew, sorry to hear you are not feeling well. On top of that, this happening to you. I hope you get better soon.
