  1. Interesting thing I got going here. A few months ago I picked up this really nice 6204 rep: Cool modded 21j, nice case shape, good brass showing on the bezel teeth, keeps terrible time like a mistreated gen . But the insert (as you can see) is just brutal. Looks like a cheap rep insert with a SubC pearl surround filled with yellow clay. What's the best insert for this model? Yuki's? Not sure what would be correct. Also not sure how to get this one off. Thanks
  2. Can you make me one just like it? That is awesome.
  3. This is awesome. Thanks for making these. Now I just need to be able to source a good non-wokky case.

I've seen a carbon fiber auto dial before. I think serge had one.
  5. So is an MBK dial too small for a PT case?
  6. There's an ingod 5513 dial listing, if you want to look: http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-SUBMARINER-5513-METER-FIRST-/260828174206?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cba92177e#ht_2371wt_1163
  7. I like ingod44 dials, and they're cheaper. But you kind of have to take what he's got. He has a red 1680 dial or two right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-RED-SUBMARINER-DIAL-REF-1680-METER-FIRST-/280718024135?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415c191dc7#ht_3184wt_1163 http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-RED-SUBMARINER-REF-1680-/260827294719?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cba84abff#ht_2371wt_1163 I am waiting on a white 1680 dial from him. I thought NDT and Natalie's Passion (np0234) were the same seller.
  8. Thanks. So would I be better off aging the insert while it's still attached to the bezel?
  9. Thanks. So the bezel pops off like the gen SD?
  10. Hey, sorry for the total noob question, but I'm about to take possession of a PT 1680, and I'd like to age the insert a bit. Found lots of tutorials on how to do the aging, but I couldn't find any on how to actually remove the insert itself. I understand that the bezel itself pops off, and found this tutorial on how to do that for a gen SD: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=8561 Does that same method work for the PT 1680? Next, how do you get the insert off the bezel? Conversely, how do you get the insert back on (is it glued? if so, which glue?)? Can anyone briefly explain the mechanical part of the process? Thanks
  11. PB managed to get gen springbars in mine.
  12. My Yuki rivet purports to be a 7206 with 80 endlinks.
  13. I see all these great Ingod dials, but his ebay store only has watches. I'm assuming he's lower profile on the "refinished" dials - so how can I get in touch with him to see what he has available? Thanks
  14. According to the auction company, it is a 3599 from the mid 1940s, but they stressed that information had not been "verified," so "do not base any bids or bid ceilings upon that information...not liable if it's wrong...make no representations...blah blah blah.
  15. Saw this in tomorrow's Treasury auction. What is this? It is absolutely beautiful: Is it repped or reppable? Lots of good stuff in the auction, btw: http://www.treasury.gov/auctions/treasury/gp/ftl_watches.html
  16. Hey, question for the experts. I've seen a lot of vintage Daytonas lately posted with a description that includes "6:00 subdial frozen" as a mod. I get why this is a good idea on the modern A7750 sec@6 Daytona, but why do you do it on the vintage sec@9 models? The 6:00 dial is the hour counter - doesn't seem like it would come up much. Thanks.
  17. PB agreed it would be a risk. What I really need is a good rep 93160.
  18. Or just sell it to me..
  19. I guess you're picking up the check at lunch.
  20. Sorry to dig up an old thread, but does the bezel on Angus' 6542 glow? My belief is the gen did when new (probably not so much now).
  21. Which of those two will work? The first one has all the right numbers, but the second one seems like the right time period. Also, I'm worried that the holes PB drilled to modify the SSD case won't line up - I'm guessing since he used the existing bracelet, he lined them up for looks rather than to match a gen bracelet.
  22. The A/R is amazing. Mine is nowhere near that good. Is it stock?
  23. Sure! Here are a few in this earlier thread:
