  1. MBK and MBW are the one and same. The term 'MBW' was more in use when describing these watches, so the term stuck, and I guess the Chinese rep makers decided to use the same term. But now its generally known as MBK (after the shopping mall the shop is located in) on pretty much all the forums, though some members still do use the term MBW, which of course theres nothing inaccurate in doing so. Just remember that MBK and MBW are one and the same and you can't go wrong The reason why you thought that the google found site was a MBW is because that dealer is inaccurately listing his watch as the MBW version. That is 100% false. It is a MBW copy, a rep of a rep in effect Some of the dealers tried that same move on this board but it didn't wash with a lot of members here, so they were told to remove MBW from the description. The watches don't arrive serviced. The members who had unknowingly bought their Nautilus with the asian ETA clone movement found out when they took to get them serviced. Some of the members here sent their watch off to a master watchmaker, The Zigmeister, who is a member of this forum. The Zigmeister reported that some of the MBK Nautilus were coming with shoddy clone ETA movements made up with poorly finished parts. He had trouble regulating some after he had finished servicing, and if I recall correctly, he also had trouble putting one movement back together (don't quote me on this as I'm not 100% sure). I do wish that the clone ETA movements didn't find their way onto the MBK Nautilus, totally ruins it for me, as a watch that is commanding $450 and is so beautifully made, certainly shouldn't be coming with a $5-10 movement, especially when its being advertised as genuine ETA.
  2. To my eyes the black dial looks better But then again almost all of my watches follow the same pattern, black dial and steel
  3. No problem Yes ETA clones are asian movements, they are copies of the ETA movements but there haven't been much reports on their reliability, but of the ones I have read, they have been positive, with most who own them reporting that they are running fine several months since after their purchase. The only thing which I don't like is that dealers are not lowering their prices even though several of them are aware that the watches are coming with these clone movements, though they advertize them as coming with genuine ETA movements EuroTimez cannot absolutely guarantee that they come with genuine ETA, its because he knows the boss of the watch store that sells MBK watches, and based on their trust, he takes his word for it that watches sold to EuroTimez will come with gen ETA movements if thats what EuroTimez has been told. These can be serviced, as they open from the front. The gasket is removed from the front by removing the screws that are situated in the hinges or the 'ears' on the sides of the case I agree with you that even gens can be inaccurate, in fact the issue with these Nautilus for me is not whether they are coming with clones or not, in fact I'm sure there are several members out there who would happily pay a lower price for a MBK Nautilus with a clone movement, its the fact that these watches cost $450 and several are coming with clone movements worth around $10, if that in China. MBK is the name of the shopping mall based in Bangkok. I don't know the name of the actual store in question, but everyone here and on the other boards just refer to the store as 'MBK'. MBW and MBK are the same, MBW stands for 'Marias Best Watch'. Maria was a dealer who received fame in the rep world because he (or she?) was the first to offer MBK Rolex watches which were known for their exceptionally high quality and their ability to take genuine parts.
  4. Hi Webvan and welcome to the forum! The links you found are of the Chinese copy of the 'original' MBK. The MBK version is so famous and legendary, that the Chinese rep makers actually bought that one and then created their own copies using the MBK as a sample. The Chinese one is nowhere close to the fit and finish of the MBK. The MBK Nautilus I believe is currently the best rep available in terms of sheer quality, and certainly worth its price tag. However these days MBK are supplying some of these with ETA clones, which don't boast the same quality and finish as their genuine counterparts. Unfortunately, the way the Nautilus is constructed is that there is no way for the dealer to verify what movement you will actually be getting, as the watch opens from the front and is not a straightforward procedure unless you know what you are doing.
  5. Have you checked whether or not the one Pix has is available any more in the market. Unless his review states so, you can ask Pix which dealer did he purchase his from.
  6. You can email the dealer you bought the watch from asking if they can supply you a replacement UPO clasp. I doubt they will sell you a latch.
  7. The quartz will have almost zero maintenance costs. All you have to do is swap out the battery every couple of years when the battery runs out. Buy an A7750 and be prepared for servicing costs, these are not cheap either, be prepared to spend around 160-200$ + if you are in the EU. In fact I think it will be a lot more than that, and that is if you can find a watchmaker who has the skill to service a A7750. It all depends on how badly you want the watch to pass as a gen. It will be very hard for someone to spot the ticking subdial hand, unless they are looking dead on at the dial. And as you already said, the AR is an issue that is easily fixable, just get it AR'ed by Chieftang.
  8. The adhesive is pretty strong.. usually. The only problem I've ever encountered was a SMP Chrono I received which during transit, the insert got loose.
  9. I use Firefox. We've been with AOL for over 5 years and haven't used their browser once. At first, I thought it might be a problem with our router (Belkin F5D7632-4), so I connected up the ADSL modem that AOL gave us when we first switched over to broadband, the BT Voyager 100, dialed up and still the same problem! That was yesterday. As of today the sites still are not loading up. Looks like I might have to get in touch with customer services.
  10. My ISP is currently AOL UK and since about 1:00 PM GMT time today, secure websites such as AOL.co.uk, e-bay, hotmail, facebook and a handful of others won't load up, or take very long to show a half loaded web page with words and pictures in the wrong place. I did a bit of googling and read something about the MTU value might be behind this. I then remembered that a couple of days back I was playing around with MTU settings on a program called TCPoptimizer and changed the value from 1492 to 1500. So then I read some posts by people on several forums who said the MTU should be set to 1400 for AOL users. I change the MTU to 1400 but this has no affect. I then change the MTU back again to 1492 and still the websites won't load. Is this anything to do with MTU or are AOL servers playing up? Any help is greatly appreciated.
  11. It is always fast for me here in the UK. I've never experienced slow speeds before.
  12. I don't know if it will resist water whilst swimming, but I can tell you that I have worn several watches with push down crowns in the shower and they have all survived
  13. Thats a gen bro I agree, that is a good collection.
  14. Exactly. Remember when Sanro posted his beautiful PP 5980/1A: Thats a $50,000 watch. No one had a go at him for posting such a watch, and he displayed no snobbish attitude at all. In fact he was really humble and felt somewhat shy posting that photo! At the end of the day, a watch is a watch. Owning a gen doesn't make you any better of a person than a rep owner, and owning a rep doesn't make you any worse of a person than a gen owner. People who judge others based on what watch is on their wrist, well I feel sorry for them, I can't put it in any other way. Theres much more to a person than what watch is on their wrist.
  15. Yes, the same way as a person who has autism can also exhibit symptoms from the condition known as 'Savant syndrome'.
  16. Ah Virtualdub, a fantastic program. When my dad was really into video editing and converting DVD's to DivX, I remember he used to use this program often.
  17. Thanks V I think I may have got inspired somewhat from this :
  18. Thanks man Yes some dials are better suited for certain events. For instance, I've owned the Bond Seamaster in the past, although a very nice watch I thought the blue dial was just too 'divey' or sporty for me. The black dial looks much sharper and seems more versatile to me. Thanks FM, unfortunately its gone (and undersold ) I had no idea that the dial on that one was rare and much sought after.
  19. I'm a wearer all the way. Any which are not getting wristtime are sold. I suppose I can't be a collector as the ones that are not worn sit on a shelf in my room collecting dust, (there is no display cabinet where I can 'admire their beauty) So I don't see the point in that. Before I used to care about every little scratch or mark that would show up on the bracelets, now I can't stand every single one of them looking new so want to age them through wear.
  20. If you're a real hip-hop fan, then you need to listen to this: Only Built 4 Cuban Linx (Niggaz), classic album.
  21. Though this is a rare version, it just might be going for sale. (I'm looking for black dial with dots)
