  1. Hi mate that's pretty close to the gen one. I am planning to get one as well from either Trusty guy or Pure time.

Quick question for you, they mentioned this UPO version now uses 316F Stainless Steel which different from the older one being 316L. Accroding to some reviews, its brighter and bit shinier that previous one.

How was it for you? they said the bracelet looked like gen now? Would you also be able to post pictures of the clasp?

    thank you

  2. Hi

Managed to take picture yesterday. The day-date now looks perfectly fine. The watchsmith friend did a good job on replacing the crystal with Dome one but without AR. It snagged into place with fine glue.

The lume on 24 hour indicator located at 9o'clock position has been removed as well. Looked to me Gen now.

    Will post detailed pics sooner.

  3. Hi Agrippa

You're right, it was only the crystal that was yellowish. I have managed to open the watch today, and seen the dial has deep black, bright silver markers and hands. I am little bit frustrated on this crsytal.

Now, I have tried to use solvents on the crsytal (inside and outside) but no luck, I think I'll just go to my watchmith friend and see if he has clear (no AR), dome sapphire crystal which would fit my watch.

Let me know your thoughts, anyways thanks again.

  4. Hi mate

Thanks for your kind help. I will try to have the watch opened and find out if this was actually due to the crystal coating.

If that's the case then I will remove the AR then. Some sites suggests to use abrasive solution such as metal polish, sunblock etc.

Anyone recommend anything else which is really effective?

    Cheers

    Ruel

  5. I recently acquired an Omega Speedmaster Day-Date Black edition from watheden.com. The replication is very good indeed, the case has serial numbers and when opened it has correct engravings on the back of the case back and the rotor :Omega 3606. The bracelet is very comfortable and the clasp with buttons are safely secured.

Only two things are easy tell, the 24-hour indicator on the subdial at 9 o'clock has lumes instead of nothing. And the other one is the entire dial. It looks to me somehow yellowish or old. The silver markers and hands looked gold and dial being brown. Is this due to the overcoating of anti-reflective treatment inside or is it the dial itself? I would not bother on opening my watch at this early stage.

Anyone here has the same issue? How have you fixed this?

    Thanks for any help

  6. Yes Bytor. I could say that, this is the best Quartz Chrono rep I ever seen. You'll be amazed when you get hold of this model.

Also this rep has a good looking Logo where the manufacturer used paint (a bit thicker and embosed) compared to other cheap reps where they use hand applied sticker like logo.

Other reps (Note I have cover the Seller's name to protect me :black_eye: :

  8. Tag Heuer Formula One Chronograph Review

    Ref: CAH1111.BA0850

This is a review of an entry level Tag Heuer. I know its odd to review a quartz watch here but will try my best.

So time for a little change and a little lighter version. I purchase this formula one model from rolex2u.com. Their customer service was very attentive and responsive on my inquiries from purchasing, tracking and delivery of the product. I got my watch delivered for exactly 7 days only by international registered mail.

The watch arrived clean and free from any form of damages during the shipping. The packaging was done well to protect the watch. When I opened the package the watch runs as usual since it is a quartz model. I adjusted the time and date accordingly and tested the chronograph. I stop and reset the seconds and it runs smoothly turning back to zero position.

This model is entirely different ones you may normally see from online replica shops where they sell for less than US$100. Actually only few bucks and you'll get this version. This one has a Swiss ETA Quartz movement inside where the date font can tell, one of the reason why I go for this model not to mention the subdial size and spacing where accurate to gen unlike the cheap ones where you can notice even from a far view.

Now for the review. Below is a comparison from the gen:

    Gen

    Here are my observations and findings;

    Dial

    DSC01462.jpg

Overall the dial is 9 of 10 and can be aligned to one of the best reps. The dial looks pretty amazing, and looks like a gen to me. The position and sizes of each subdials are correct.

The dial may look off white from far but its actually silver when closely looked at.

Only few glitches first, the running second hand is smaller and thinner than the gen which is easily noticeable (Incorrect).

The two subdials on the top are correct with the engraved and spiral effects. The subdial below is also correct with the spiral effect on the lining on black. (Correct)

spacing and size are pretty much close which is a good deal (Correct!) The red numerals on the 12th, 3rd and 9th are almost invisible and darker due to the black background (slightly incorrect). [FYI, only white version carries these red marks including the wording "Formula 1" circumference the subdial on the 6th. The black, orange and red version does not carry this so choosing the white is a safer choice.].

The shorter lume markers does not have a box surrounding it.(incorrect).

The calendar window is a bit off from 3 o'clock, I have ignore this since I have a beautiful date font over there. (incorrect).

    Bezel & Crown

    Gen

    CHA1111-11.jpg

    Mine

    DSC01476.jpg

    DSC01466.jpg

The rotating bezel is crisp and clicks 120 times (correct).

The brushed numbers are not that sharp (slightly incorrect).

The tag logo on the rotating bezel is slightly incorrect, symbol on the top is a bit awkward.

Note that the gen's bezel is coated with titanium carbide, a blacker black and a bit shiny compared to rep which seemed to be more a paint to me (incorrect).

The ''Tag Heuer'' insignia on the left side is thinner and sharper on the gen. And a font spacing in between (slightly incorrect).

The chrono buttons are thicker on the rep which feels a more plastic (slightly incorrect).

The crown is coated with black (paint?) but has a perfect looking Tag logo (correct).

    Case Back

    gen

    CHA1111-9.jpg

    mine

    DSC01464-1.jpg

Almost identical to the gen but it's not that sharp, the chequered flag and tag logo is deeper and embossed a bit more on the gen (slightly incorrect).

Note the model number on all 4 colours are the same CAH1113, correct if you go for orange ones, but for the other colour its incorrect. White is CAH1111. The serial numbers are all the same which is a normal issue. (incorrect).

The rep has a flatter case back cover than the gen (incorrect).

    Bracelet & clasp

The bracelet has the same feel with gen (correct).

Only missing are the dots (incorrect).

Clasp is almost identical to the gen except that the gen has more rectangular base (slightly incorrect).

The tag logo on the gen is sharper and embossed higher.

    Movement

The movement is a Swiss ETA, specifically it is G10.211 same engine used for chronograph models of Tissot, Swiss Army and other popular modes.

The watch has simple, split time and intermediate chronograph timings. It has 3 registers, the subdial in right for minutes, 1/10 of a second in right (which works after stopping the chrono) and second (the big red hand on centre).

Since the movement is genuinely an ETA it works flawlessly however gains 3 seconds/day.

    Thanks for viewing

  9. I believe I am the first owner of this model who tried a test.

My aquaracer was bought last December 2007. Last February I got bored, I went to a Seiko Authorised Service Centre and asked them for a favour. I asked them to modify my watch same as tough (a bit closer maybe) as the original. So he have done few changes:

    (1) Changed the spring bars and pins to a descent one with thicker barrels

    (2) Replace the 7750 automatic wheel

    (3) Oiled and calibrated the engine including the date alignment

    (4) Calibrated the day/date. Date changes at 11:55 PM and Day will change at 12:15 AM

    (5) Replace chrono pushers and crown stem's gaskets

    (6) Water pressured (okay it's not 300M) only to 50M

    (7) He claimed that he shocked proofed the entire engine and movement (I have no idea what he was talking about)

    (8) tighten hands on dials and subdials

Right after receiving it on a 7-day labour for this watch, time for a torture test.

Try this at your own risk, do not blame me after any damage has taken place on your watch. This is my own opinion and am willing to sacrifice the watch just for the sake of observations and experimentations to help other owners' curiosity.

    Here we go:

    1. Torture Test 1. Soaked the watch with the chrono off to bath tub full of water. - Passed. PS Bubbles came not from inside only from the Rotating bezel and bracelet

    2. Torture Test 2. Soaked the watch again with chrono on the same location. Passed. Same bubbles after on exact locations.

    3. Torture Test 3. Dropped the watch with chrono (4 times) on a 7 feet high to a carpet. Passed. Slight scratches due to impact from bracelet to case back

    4. Torture Test 4. Dropped the watch with chrono on a 7 feet high to a concrete. Slight passed, chrono stopped but after resetting it works again. Got high impact scratches on the crown but unnoticeable.

    5. Torture Test 5. Dropped the watch to a concrete with face down, Miraculously it did not damage the glass. Same side effects as above,

    6. Worn the watch while having shower. No damage.

These are my own test, will see the watch after some time. Will keep you posted for any results.

  10. Hi guys,

Please reply into this topic. show off your box or box sets for your Tag Heuer reps. Got mine just few days ago to house my Tag Huer Aquaracer Automatic Chronograph. This makes my tag more complete, its just amazing simply like the Gen version that comes with exactly same set. Here are few pics:

  11. Indeed, still I wonder if a better solvent/thinner would have saved me from 1 hour of hard work :cc_confused:

Don't spend too much time and causing damage to your watch. I used only Acetone (used for nail paint removal) and a piece of cotton ear bud. It safer to your fingers and to your watch as well. I tried to use a sewing needle once but it sometimes scratches the entire back so I stopped and changed option.

It worked really well. I only spent 15 minutes to give it a flawless look (just like the gen) Here's the technique:

    1. Put the end of the cotton bud into the bottle of acetone.

    2. Rub it gently first to each word, Then as it start to get the acetone into each letter, rub it quite harder. Do this to each word. Until no sign of paint is visible.

    3. Wipe it with a dry soft cloth.

Should give you result like this:

    DSC00809.jpg

    DSC00808.jpg

now its 99% accurate to gen...

  12. The day changes around 2am, it's normal. Never set the day or date between 10pm and 2am.

Also, always try to reset the stopwatch when the stopwatch seconds hand is near '12 (just over it). This reduces the risk of its "slipping".

The power reseve is an individual thing. On some 7750 I've had very long PR, on some others much shorter. It's a luck of a draw, really.

The stopwatch buttons are a bit tight. Very common thing with many 7750-based reps. Just live with it.

Thanks very much for your very informative response (you're really are my saviour). One last quick question, when I saw your wrist shots, I was just impressed on the date window perfect alignment, did you made some adjustment on it? cheers

  13. I could say I am one of the proud owner of this watch. Got mine via EMS just 2 days ago and loving it. However, as days gone by, here are my few concerns,

(1)Chronograph Movement - The subdial on 12'o Clock seemed to have up to 30 minutes only? (I know its a pathetic question).

    (2) Chronograph Restart - The stopwatch second seemed not to rotate (clockwise) again to 12. I mean compared to my other chrono reps when you start and restart stopwatch it rotates on the whole dial back to 12' o clock position. On Tag AR, it just fall counterclockwise back to 12?

    (3) Day Window. THe day window seemed to changed only after reaching 1:15AM different from the Date window which is accurate? Is this fine?

    (4) Is there a Power reserve on the watch, ie on cheap Automatic reps when you did not wear the watch for only 12 hours it will stop working and giving you trouble adjusting it again to the current time. But on the TAG AR could this also be an issue?

    (5) And last thing the chrono (stopwatch) buttons seemed to be so tough, you to press it deeply to work. Is this also issue to other user.

Thanks to anyone who can help me on my inquiry.
