  1. Exactly, tritium is a gas and the bonding agent (phospor) is the key. Panerai's bonding agent is far inferior - or at least it seems to last half as long.

Not to be pedantic, but tritium is what hydrogen with 1 proton and 2 neutrons is called. It is tritium whether it is in pure (T-T), or heterogeneous (T-x) form.

It is gaseous when part of a gaseous molecule, and solid or liquid when parts of molecules in those phases.

Since it has identical properties with standard, single-nucleon, hydrogen; it can be substituted in a molecule almost anywhere hydrogen can.

I used to use tritiated compounds to track drug distribution in animals it works great for that too.

  2. It was indeed, they called it "The Antichrist". :)

My neighbor is from S. Africa and knows the people in that movie, and get this, he speaks Bushman. He hates newer Rovers but he's just happy as a clam at high tide that I picked up this one. So what is a "son of a Moluccan"? :animal_rooster:

Watch out for the rebel leader, Sam Boga!

  3. "Nicolas Hayek, president of the world's leading watchmaker, Swatch Group, remarked at the time: "It's like a bunch of cardinals getting together and robbing the Vatican bank.""

    But that DID happen!

  4. old topic but ive been far far away, having just shot an AK47 in Cambodia and an M16 I would have to choose the latter in a battle of the assault rifles. less kick and NO barrel wobble. Wonder why the AK always takes the spotlight...

As an ex-infantryman, there are two reasons that leap to my mind:

    1) AK-series weapons were designed to be made by stamping rather than machining (we all know about that here). Therefore they can be made very cheaply.

    2) AK-series weapons can fire almost regardless of how clean they are. This is very important in the field.

That said, I'd absolutely choose the M16A2 over an AK-series rifle. It's a more accurate weapon, and the ammo is lighter.

But I think I'd rather have a 7.62mm M14 over either one because of the greater range, stopping power, and that I'm more of a "one shot at a time" guy.

  5. My favorite Christmas song is Christmas in Las Vegas by Richard Cheese:

    Christmas in Las Vegas

    Decorate your tree with chips

Let's roll a yo beneath the mistletoe

    While that angel strips

Rudolph sold the sled, now he's betting on red

In a casino made out of gingerbread

    Christmas in Las Vegas

    It's a trip!

The wise men are rolling sevens

    The elves are doubling down

Light a candle, and pull the handle

    I love that jingling sound

Every showgirl and boy ride in a sleigh of joy

Pulled by eight tiny tigers eating Siegfried & Roy

    Christmas in Las Vegas

    What a town!

    Santa brought me two aces

I wonder if I should split?

Hey waitress, bring me a drink, while I think

    What would Jesus hit?

The strip lights are all twinkling

There's no room at the inn

    But because 'tis the season

They'll comp a suite for Mary at the Wynn!

    Christmas in Las Vegas

    It's Bethlehem with Bling!

Let's hope the dealer brings four newborn kings

'Cause my baby needs a brand new pair of five golden rings

Christmas in Las Vegas really swings!

    Cha cha cha ching

I said Christmas in Las Vegas really swings!

  6. I must be an outlier, but I would rate OHMSS higher in quality than many people.

I like that he has to do some research and go undercover.

Much of the time in other films, he just waltzes all over the place using his real name.

BTW, in the book he removes his Rolex from his wrist and puts it around his hand for use as brass knuckles.
