  1. Also, with digital watches, 10:08 is the setting with the most component line segments illuminated (or darkened, depending on whether it's LCD or LED). That would also be true of the date numeral "28".
  2. I bought a small item from wheaton26 which was lost in the mail. He stood behind the transaction and gave me a full refund.

  3. That is some excellent photographic evidence!
  4. If you're looking to have something for barter or maybe bribing the local constabulary, why not tuck a couple of Noobmariners or Air Kings in your pack?
  5. On the bright side, when someone doesn't use courtesies, you've just learned a piece of useful information about them.
  6. If you absolutely need a mechanical and hate the Seiko Monster, then you can try the skx007/skx009. But personally, I'd wear my Casio g shock solar atomic.
  7. From Esquire magazine: http://www.esquire.com/the-side/feature/best-duty-free-shops-073109 Check out the TH Aquaracer on slide #5.
  8. +1 I like to have one solar atomic watch around to use as a benchmark. Solar atomics are thought-free, and perfect for that. We all know that the mechanicals stray from perfect. I like my watches to be right on. A couple of years back, I found a Casio solar atomic G-Shock at Costco for $40. (They had a pallet of them) Much like my Ruger 9mm...I never wear it, but it's good to have around.
  9. No, never. When I first get up in the morning to do my personal hygene tasks, I strap on last night's watch as I walk to the bathroom. If I want a different one for the day, I change it after coffee.
  10. That knife looks pretty big too....maybe somebody just hit him with a shrink ray.
  11. I wish I'd known that. I would have taken my sons over there.
  12. I was trying to cure Multiple Sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis until I was laid off in February. Now I get by playing poker tournaments.
  13. This is one of my favorites: The Morning Call, Allentown, PA, 5/25/85 State: PA American Rifleman Issue: 8/1/1985 Nathan Weisman, a 73-year-old West Allentown, Pa., man, was awakened by a burglar in his home. He picked up a .38 cal. revolver and investigated. Weisman fired one shot upon confronting the intruder, who left the scene in a hurry. Police said they found what appeared to be human excreta on the Weisman lawn, indicating the burglar fled in fear. Giggity!
  14. That sounds like a bit of a struggle. Nice job, though. I had the same issue. I took it to Geneva Watch Repair in San Francisco. They fixed it for free (well, it was in for a full service, which I did pay for).
  15. A couple of months back, I bought one of the Parnis watches from the Bay. It was an homage to an IWC minute repeater. Repeater lever was non-functional, of course. However it has a decent asian Unitas movement, with decoration. Black face, chrome(ish) hands and numerals. It keeps excellent time (~+4 sec/day). The band it came with was [censored], so I replaced it with a good calf strap. But the watch was well worth the $31 it cost me, + $10 shipping.
  16. Do you intend to go into the water? That's an important question that will influence both your watch choice and strap/bracelet.
  17. Maybe if I had a job. I love the Kobold, so this is very tempting.
  18. Well-done. I got 3 Seikos, one of which is an OM with SS bracelet. I think it is the finest value I've ever seen in the watch world. I'm going camping and waterskiing later this week and that's the watch I will bring.
  19. I bought from a dude called Watches Jackson a couple of years ago before I knew better. Inexpensive fantasy A. Lange & Soehne. I no longer wear it.
  20. I play poker. When I raise all-in, I'm slappin' folks with my chips. I play on Full Tilt if anyone out there does too.
  21. +1 Tritium emits beta particles. Beta particles are unable to even penetrate the layer of dead skin cells that covers all of us. It will not make you glow. It is easy to handle safely. I have used it in the laboratory more times than I can count. The problem is if you swallow, breathe, or absorb it through your skin. In such a case, you have it doing its work on your cells from very small distances without shielding. I don't know exactly what the U.S. NRC licensing requirements are for possession and transfer of the material, but I do remember keeping copious records of every microCurie used.
  22. Hitler was a vegetarian also....except for the methamphetamine.
  23. One of my favorite Antoine Preziuso watches. He has other similar ones in the "Hours of Love" series.
  24. Aw, come on. You are just judging him because he was a penniless pedophiilic and closeted pill-addicted trans-racial-sexual with narcissistic body-dysmorphic disorder that just happened to have a penchant for buying the remains of severely disfigured individuals, lonely monkeys and carnival rides. Now, is that any reason to judge anyone?
  25. I will absolutely miss him more than Michael Jackson.
