  1. It depends. But SS rocks. Depending on the design, it can go with almost anything.
  2. It looks like an homage to the birdsnest stadium in Beijing.
  3. There really aren't any in the US. We just bite the bullet and risk it with customs.
  4. That Speedy is total madness and I love it.
  5. Polar bear in a blender?
  6. What's the lug width on this model? I can't find it anywhere.
  7. Toomuchgear -- Love the Tudor on the leather chrono strap.
  8. I want this: http://www.doxawatches.com/sub750_sharkhunter.htm My brother in law had a Doxa blackface about 35 years ago when he was a SEAL. The ricebead bracelet broke one day as he was jumping out of an airplane. He watched if fall below him, noting where it landed. After some searching, he found it again and determined that it gained about 2hrs a day. Into the sock drawer it went for 30+ years. After he sold it last year, he told me he would have given it to me if he's known I was into watches.
  9. Hey Nanuq, what's the story on that Orange Monster's bracelet?
  10. Cancers need to be cut out. Fortunately, he did that and you don't even have to do anything. On a totally unrelated note, when depositing hidden treasures to rot away and stink, seafood is good. I like wedging squid into bumpers.
  11. That particular watch pic is from interwatches, which is a gen watch sales site. If it is being sold as a rep, it looks shady to me.
  12. I'll post the watch that got me to join this board and start doing proper rep research. A couple of years ago, I ordered a rep of an IWC Portuguese from Tic-Toc Watch. The pics of the watch looked much like this model on Josh's site: http://www.jpc8118.com/iw10065-portugese-c...ron-p-3082.html What I got (after many emails and weeks of waiting) was this piece of cheese: And no, the year indicator doesn't change, so it will evermore read 2006. During the many rounds of email nastygrams, the vendor was foolish enough to CC all of his customers instead of BCCing them--this was when he told us that US Customs had seized his latest shipment and he needed some more time to work things out. His mistake allowed us to exchange horror stories about him. One of these other buyers put me onto the RWG and the idea of "trusted" vendors. I've since purchased several good reps and have been very glad I found this place. It's a tremendous resource for those with our affliction.

The pig was real. The story was busted in the sense that it was farm-raised and released into a private hunting preserve.
  14. Yeah, I'm all over that---in the most literal way possible!
  15. I am reminded of a couple of quotes attributed (correctly or not) to Socrates: "The children now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority, they show disrespect to their elders.... They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and are tyrants over their teachers." and "The young people of today think of nothing but themselves. They have no reverence for parents or old age. They are impatient of all restraint. They talk as if they alone knew everything and what passes for wisdom with us is foolishness with them. As for girls, they are forward, immodest and unwomanly in speech, behaviour and dress." That said, can someone please hurry up and tell me what the best Submariner rep is???
  16. I bought a silicone rubber strap from them some time back. Good transaction, helpful people answering the phone. I'd buy from them again.
  17. Agreed. Everything that's wrong with Roger Moore as Bond is encapsulated in the scene from The Spy Who Loved Me where he's driving the Lotus out of the Mediterranean, disgustedly tossing the fish out the window. Connery would have left it alone and dealt with it later; Daniel Craig would have bitten its head off as a warning to other sea life.
  18. Anyone catch what Felix Leiter was wearing? Was it a Hamilton X-Wind?
  19. One man/one woman is not necessarily the only traditional form of marriage. How many wives did King Solomon have? And he was alleged to have been favored by Yahweh with great wisdom. Maybe the Bible is saying that having hundreds of wives is the wisest way to live. Posters who have suggested a strict separation of civil and religious marriage IMHO have a point. But, it would have to be done at the Federal level so gay civil unions would become marriages for tax and immigration purposes. That would be the only way for them to be truly equal without being separate. I've tried to think of ways that gay marriage would harm hetero marriage, but can imagine none. I have several multiply-divorced Krazy Konservative Kristian relatives who have damaged traditional marriage far more than any gay people I know.
  20. Excuse me, that last line should read "If either one goes against McCain, it will be mathematically impossible for Obama to lose.
  21. Here's a gold Planet Ocean: http://www.shopnbc.com/Invicta_Men_s_Off_S...ch/J173580.aspx It's made by Invicta, how could you go wrong?!
